Why Teri Baer chose Chesapeake Bay

For years we crossed the Choptank River bridge and drove through Cambridge on our way to vacations in Ocean City and were intrigued by its quaintness. We spent a few long weekends exploring the area, decided to purchase a home, and found our property on Jenkins Creek. We've decided to share our home as a vacation property. We hope you enjoy our home and the Cambridge area as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

Our home is located at the end of Jenkins Creek Road overlooking the water and only several minutes from downtown Cambridge with its unique shops and restaurants. Minimal local traffic make walking, jogging, and bike riding safe and pleasurable. The school and city park at the town end of Jenkins Creek Road (1 1/4 miles away) have tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, play areas for kids, and views of the Choptank river. Great Marsh Park, with its public boat launch, fishing docks, and picnic areas is only about 2 miles away. Also, because of our location, you can explore the Cambridge area without the hassle of the beach traffic on Route 50.

Peaceful Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Baer Necessities was perfect for our group of 6 (2 couples + 2 singles). Even though we were exhausted, went to bed late every night because it was so pleasant sitting around the Baer Necessities living room. The house is so expansive and well laid out that those who went to bed early were not awakened by the laughter in the living room. One of the group couldn't resist the lure of sitting on the porch reading a book..he even took a day off from bicycling to do so. We started and ended our bike rides from the Blackwater visitor center (about 14 miles from Baer Necessities)so that we didn't have to ride in traffic any day. The Blackwater loop was a nice bike ride to get our legs warmed up for the rest of the days riding, the visitor center is very nice, and spectacularly clean. The Harriet Tubman museum (very near the Blackwater visitors center) was awesome. We'll be back!

The perfect choice for our family!

  • 5 of 5

Baer Necessities was a perfectly lovely place for our family to gather. The setting, looking out on the river, was beautiful. And for birders, it was great! We watched half a dozen Ospreys fishing, and a pair nesting just across the river. Being able to watch birds from a bench on the pier, or from chairs by the fountain in the garden, was idyllic. The home was beautifully and comfortably furnished, and spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking and eating utensils we needed, as well as spices and condiments. Teri was super friendly, and always available by phone or email to answer any questions and to respond to our requests. Please don’t think of Baer Necessities as “bare necessities.” It is so much more. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had the pleasure of spending three nights at the property. Teri and Lauren do an excellent job keeping the house fully equipped with more or less anything you will need. They are also extremely responsive to any questions. The house is only 5 mins from town and located on a quiet street.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Baer Necessities for 3 nights, from March 5th through the 7th. The home was lovely with plenty of room for the 4 of us. There are beautiful views out to the river from many of the rooms and all the amenities you could want in a home, lots of comfortable rooms, books, games, a new pool, a dock out into the river, multiple televisions, great internet access and, yes, peace and quiet. It is located close to the town center where there are several very good restaurants and a local brewery, however, the kitchen in this house is so beautiful and well equipped you could prepare all your meals at home if you prefer. It is only a short drive to the Blackwater Nature Reserve where you can see wintering water fowl and bald eagles, a must see for nature enthusiasts. For history buffs, The Harriet Tubman Museum was slated to open on March 10th. It was only an hour’s drive to see the wild horses of Assateague Island. All in all a wonderful place, I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in the Cambridge area!

Peaceful and pleasant

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our weekend and are already trying to figure out when we can all return in the warmer months. The house was spacious yet cozy. Everything one would need to prepare delicious meals was found in the updated kitchen. I can only imagine how pleasant it would be to spend a balmy night on the pool deck overlooking the creek. Just a weekend was far too brief, but we did get to sample the most delicious beers in town at RAR brewery!! It is a very special property and I would highly recommend it to my friends and family..Thank you for being such lovely and helpful hosts!
