About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

Newpark is a wondeful location, close to everything that's great about Park City with much less hassle than staying in town. This condo is warm and tastefully decorated. It is a quiet respite after a day in the snow, or a day wandering the shops or mountains nearby.

From the deck, looking over the gorgeous nature preserve, you can see The Canyons, Park City Mountain Resort and the Deer Valley ski areas in the distance. The views are even prettier from the master bedroom or the hot tub on a star studded night with a glass of wine in hand. If you cross-country, snowshoe, run or bike, you can jump on miles of a well manicured trail right out the back door. Think of this condo as your activity center and home away from home!

About Susan Koch

I live in the Washington DC area but travel to Park City whenever I can.

Susan Koch purchased this condo in 2009

Why Susan Koch chose Park City area

Newpark has everything you need. From the Whole Foods grocery store, to the bowling alley and movie theater, there are great restaurants within walking distance and a Starbucks for morning coffee. I love the area because it has the charm of a small village without the hustle and bustle of town.

I vacationed in Park City for more than 10 years before deciding to buy this condo. I love it because I can be on the deck less than an hour after landing at Salt Lake City airport. Plus, there are 3 great ski areas within minutes and more than 10 total, within an hours drive. FRESH POWDER everywhere!!

I also love the summers in Park City for the fresh air and the access to nature. From here I've ventured to other rugged places like Moab, and St. George as well as Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon in south Utah.

Our 7th year here

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this great condo for 6 weeks Jan & Feb for the past 7 years and hope to return next year. It is in a terrific location, literally a few minutes away from stores, restaurants and shopping. The views of all three ski areas from the condo are gorgeous. It is a short, easy drive to all three ski resorts and Main St, Park City. It is well equipped and clean. The carpets are newly shampooed and all bath and door mats are brand new. There is an abundance of extra towels. The kitchen is easy to cook in and the in unit washer/dryer makes doing laundry easy. There is a huge walk-in closet and we love the inside garage. No clearing off the car in the morning. The owner is very accommodating. Must admit we haven't used the hot tub but it is serviced weekly. All of this only 30 minutes from the airport. No wonder we keep coming back.

This Stay Altered My Confidence in Renting Condos In The Future...

  • 1 of 5

What went right: The owner and property manager were quick to return my emails and calls...nice people thru all interactions

What went wrong: We arrive on Sunday night. No instructions sent a few days in advance of arrival how to enter unit, had to contact owner, wrong code to get into garage (lucky garage door opener handing on front door handle), condo condition..previous guest left garbage in garage, never given front door key, all the following had food crumbs left in them-microwave,refrigerator,freezer. Kitchen counters not cleaned, greezy fingerprints exterior microwave, bathroom had hair in sinks, obvious toilet use...in other words after late Sunday night arrival we were cleaning the condo which appeared to not have been cleaned. Photos taken and sent to owner. Quick response from owner stating "unacceptable". Put in touch with property manager who came over and verified. Next call from housekeeper telling WHY (other jobs) she couldn't clean right away and could come Thursday...we departed on Friday. Then she offered Tuesday evening (when we would b returning from day of skiing). Contacted owner again asking cleaning that wouldn't inconvenience us. (Now 2 of our one trip a year to park city spent on resolving this issue) Another email from owner asking "trying to help u just tell me what u want". That had been expressed Sunday evening upon arrival already...a full cleaning. Later she emailed back cleaning on Tuesday around 10 am...perfect...finally! But no cleaning occured (I sent her photos Tuesday evening detailing microwave still have food particles in it)later learned according to property manager the owner cancelled Tuesday cleaning. I am guessing in reaction to my final frustrated email that she had (3) options:clean asap, compensate us, or do nothing...I guess she chose the "Do Nothing" option. Bottom line: It's a Heavily used condo(black spots on all carpets including bathroom carpets), responsive owner & property manager who are ineffective at solving problems, don't expect to receive resolution (either thru correcting problem or compensate). From the reviews I can't believe we stayed in the same property as previous guests. Our entire trip was documented with pictures, emails & visit by property manager. Now I know that unanimous positive reviews on VRBO/Homeaway still don't ensure the property will be what you expect. My advice on this unit is Buyer Beware.

Owner's Response: In the six years I have owned and rented my condo I have never had a more difficult guest. I will not respond to all her details, most of which I disagree with, but I will say that this guest told me to cancel the cleaning that I had gone at length to arrange. It was done at her direction in spite of the pains I took to work around her schedule and multiple emails at all hours of the day and night.. The 5 star reviews on the property are very accurate and at least 75% of my guests have returned multiple years because of their positive experience at the property.

Like our second home in Park City

  • 5 of 5

This cozy condo is a little larger than neighboring condos because it is on the corner, and it is one my family loves to book. The living room and master bedroom have a beautiful view of the nature preserve and mountains. It has been decorated with thought and care, comfortable furniture and fully furnished with all the amenities, including a corkscrew and nice wine glasses. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and grill on the outside porch. Our adult children and grandchildren came for a cookout dinner and there was plenty of space for all to visit and enjoy our meal together. The property manager was available if we ever needed anything. Our host is wonderful and we feel like we are in our Park City home away from home. I would recommend this condo without hesitation!

Always great!

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in nearly all of the areas around Park City over the years, I've really come to appreciate the Newpark area. While it's obviously not on the mountain or in PC proper, it's convenient to all of the ski areas, it's easy to navigate, and there are a ton of great restaurants and shops nearby. While Newpark is great generally, I think Susan's condo is particularly nice: you have a great view overlooking the ski resorts and the Swaner Nature Preserve. For my part, I think it's the best of all possible worlds if you're not going to be ski-in/ski-out. She and her property manager Ron do a great job, and both are incredibly easy to communicate and work with. Kudos to both of you! This is always the first property I look for when booking in PC through VRBO. It never disappoints.
