I am a Real Estate agent in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills for the John Aaroe Group. From my early school years I can remember riding my bicycle to all the neighboring new housing developments in Miami, Florida where I was born and raised to look at the furnished model homes. My life long love and appreciation for quality design began there and continued to my college and early work years in Texas and my 34 years in Los Angeles. This is property # 17 for me. I am certain I have a few more home projects in me but for now I am content. I have a second bedroom & bath planned and beginning to explore installing an outdoor spa (plunge pool).

Why JOHN BURNS chose Palm Springs

I am quite fond of the Warm Sands Neighborhood for a number of reasons. It is one of the oldest if not the oldest neighborhoods in Palm Springs. It has had many famous residents from Bugsy Seigle to Walt Disney. It is primarily Spanish in it's architecture (Adobe and Stucco) with a good representation of 40's and 50's Ranch and Mid Century. The mountain views are some of the best and walking and bicycling are great modes of transportation to downtown Palm Springs. I see a bright future for this area along with positive growth and enrichment.

Perfect Palm Springs Get Away

This was a great value/property for our first visit to PS. The house was in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of the main strip/shopping/restaurants. Loved the backyard patio where I could enjoy a beverage and listen to the mourning doves coo /mockingbirds sing. Loved the 1950s vibe of the house and the excellent artwork. Bed was comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Definitely recommend

As good as it gets!

What a wonderful place and location! We could walk to restaurants, shopping, markets, etc. From the kitchen to the bath, to the living space, John anticipated everything that was needed to make our stay comfortable. We hope to stay there again.

Great location for International Film Festival

John Burns was a very thoughtful host. He was easily accessible to answer questions about heating & wifi access. The kitchen was fully equipped & the property is located in a quiet neighbohood, close to uptown & downtown restaurants & theatres. The gas fireplace gave a warm glow on cool mornings & evenings. The artwork was a delight. Only downside was the shower which changed temperature abruptly, but there were lots of towels.

Great PS rental!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at John’s house this past holiday season. Let me start by saying that the house is in impeccable shape and very nicely decorated. The kitchen is well stocked (lots of pots, pans, coffee maker, wine glasses, you name it) as is the bathroom and bedroom. Location could not be best, within walking distance to coffee shops, movie theater and short bike ride to downtown. John is also very attentive, and the couple times that we contacted him, he was quick to respond and had an answer for us within less than an hour. Other than the fact that it rained for most of our stay, this was one of the best experience we’ve had with VRBO. We will definitely be back to Palm Springs and this property!

Charming Home Close to Downtown Palm Springs

We had a great time staying at this property. The owner was accommodating and communicated well. I love to cook so some of our meals were prepared there and I found the kitchen was stocked with all the cooking accessories I needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, which we appreciated after spending days in a hotel. The property is very conveniently located to restaurants, grocery, liquor store and other retail shopping. The only challenge we had was navigating the many light switches but we eventually figured it all out.

House needs a good cleaning

There were many very nice things about this house, but unfortunately the lack of cleanliness detracted from our enjoyment of this accommodation.

The pros and cons are as follows:

Pros

1) Very convenient location, close to airport, downtown shops and restaurants, even hiking.

2) Quiet neighbourhood of modest 1940s homes, many of them quite charming.

3) The kitchen was was well equipped with cookware, utensils and dinnerware, really everything required to prepare and serve meals and drinks.

4) The house was well stocked with bed linens and towels.

5) The house itself was charming and functional, and the small private patio was great for outdoor meals.

However, here is the con:

The house needed a good cleaning. Some light switch plates can best be described as grimy. Handprints and dirt were especially noticeable on the fronts of appliances, knobs of the stove; the bathroom door hand a brown edge of dirt on the inside. We arrived on a Friday night for a 9 night stay. On Saturday we alerted the owner to the need for the house to be cleaned. He indicated that he would meet with us on Sunday to review our concerns, but he did not. We contacted him again on Sunday but did not get a response from the owner. On our last day, a week later, he sent an email thanking us for pointing out the housekeeping items.

As well, there were a few other glitches. The first day the stove did not work because the gas was turned off. A few days into our stay the hot water malfunctioned and we had no hot water. The cable TV did not work. These 3 issues were resolved quickly, but along with the lack of cleanliness in the house, the hassle of having to contact caretakers made our stay less enjoyable than it could have been.

1)Palm Springs Museum is a must see. An new addition to the museum has opened featuring home Furnishings & Architecture from the Mid-Century Modern period. The new addition is located downtown @ Palm Canyon and Beristo RD. The art museum is located behind the old Palm Springs Mall (under renovation).

2) The Living Desert in Palm Desert is also a must see.

3) Uptown District- Located in the fast growing North end of Palm Canyon Blvd features Art Galleries, Mid Century furnishings, Trina Turk Boutiques, soon to open Arrive Hotel.

4) Many wonderful Hiking Trails are located within a 5 minute drive of the house.

5) Joshua Tree- is a wonderful day trip

6) It's a quick 2 hour drive to LA, Hollywood, Santa Monica, and San Diego.

7) Palm Springs Ariel Tramway... Largest Tramway in the world, and it rotates!
