This characteristic two bedroom apartment is located on the top floor (fourth) with an elevator of an old Florentine liberty style palazzo. It is located in the heart of Florence one half block from the cathedral square. This is a no traffic street.
The flat has the most spectacular view of the Cathedral Dome with its lovely rooftop terrace (unforgettable views). It is situated on two floors. The entry level houses the two bedrooms (one with two single beds and one with a double bed) and 2 bathroom with a shower stall.
On the next floor (reached by a small wooden stairway) there is the living/dining area and small (but functional) kitchen alcove. There is a lovely corner fireplace in the living area.
Up a few steps is the study area with a day bed (single) and its spectacular view of the Cathedral dome. From the study you enter the terrace. The terrace has outdoor furniture and a big sun umbrella. The furnishings are comfortable and reflect the owners many travels to the far east.
We are a family of three: my husband is a doctor, my 30 year old son and I am a math teacher. We are native Florentines and we live on the third floor of the building. Our English speaking skills are fairly basic so please be patient and excuse any mistakes when responding.....thank you.
P.S. From my precedent American guest.
We stayed at a delightful place in Florence and want to let you know
about the place.
It is no problem communicating with Angela by e mail but she does
not speak English although her 30 year old son, Marco, speaks English.
The location is fantastic ! It is about a 10 minute walk from the train
station and smack in the middle of everything.
As a matter of fact, when you step out of the building you are in one
of the main thoroughfares and surrounded by about 4 restaurants and stores.
Amazing thing is that when you are in the flat you cannot hear the street
noise at all .. it is only when you are down on
the ground floor about to step through the door that you hear the street
So, you find number 11 .. press Angela's flat (she lives on the 2nd
floor and the flat is on the 3rd floor) and she meets you at the door. You
go through the old main door .. then an iron gate .. then up a short
stairs and you come to the elevator; which is amazing in itself. It is a
modern elevator but will hold only 2 people .. or one with bunch of luggage.
The unit itself is on 3 levels .. as you enter there are 2 bedrooms
and 2 bath (shower) on the main floor. This can sleep a couple in the double
bed room .. and two singles (or 3 as there are also 1 extra bed!) or other couple in the other room.
The you walk up a short set of stairs and you arrive in the living room which has a fire place .. dining table and comfortable chairs. Also a kitchen well equipped whit microwave , mini oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher washing machine.
The you go up one more level to the study; which is attached to a marvelous roof top deck with fantastic view of the Florence
The study has a wonderful couch where one more person can sleep (sofa bed) .
Other than that .. what a find. The location is perfect .. I love all
the restaurants and shops around her place .. And we lit the fire in
the fireplace and it was marvelous .. to be able to make a cup of tea
in the kitchen .. on an on ..
Perfect location - literally just around the corner from the Duomo, with a stunning view from terrace. Bedrooms are comfortable, with air conditioning. Living room and library are lovely, comfortable and also air conditioned. Terrace is phenomenal- bigger than photos indicate - views even better! Elevator is tiny but entirely functional. Hosts are wonderful- there to welcome us, helpful and warm. They provided maps, advice and suggestions for dinner spots. A lovely place!
Angela and Sandro are perfect hosts. They were at the flat to meet us, and showed us through the three story apartment completely. The street is pedestrian only, but the flat is easily accessed from either the Duomo or P. Di San Lorenzo in two minutes. The buidling has a modern elevator. The street is full of several excellent restaurants, many of which Sandro and Angela personally recommend. The flat could easily sleep six - two full bedrooms and two full baths. It has a wood burning fireplace, tile floors, a nice kitchen with a great washing machine. The best part of this flat is the rooftop garden room with a spectacular view of the Duomo. The area is very quiet - only birds chirping!
I have been to Italy 30 times, and I thought this flat was one of the most comfortable and best located ever - rent this flat for the vacation of your lifetime!
My family of five stayed in this amazing apartment during spring break. The apartment was everything we could hope for being centrally located in a nice neighborhood. We walked everywhere, including from and back to the train station. We dined right outside the front doors in great restaurants and also shopped at the grocery store just steps from the front entrance. The neighborhood was very easy to navigate. The apartment amenities were perfect (washed some laundry, relaxed on terrace, ate a couple meals in) Most amazing was the two level patio overlooking the central cathedral. Owners were very nice.
We just completed a week in this apartment and had a wonderful experience. We were one of two couples staying here. Sandro and Angela were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped with some minor problems we had and left us a nice bottle of wine when we arrived. Their son Marco checked us in on Sunday after we walked from the train station. Sandro and Angela were available during the week if we had any issues. The highlight of this apartment is the rooftop terrace. We hosted a party of about a dozen people comfortably on the terrace. Most of the people at this party were natives of Florence and they were amazed by the views. Almost every one asked how they might rent this apartment for friends and visitors.
The location is ideal and is about a two-minute walk to the duomo. The apartment is surprisingly quiet as it is on the back of the building. The street was very noisy but the apartment was very quiet. The elevator was appreciated after walking all day and was quite helpful with luggage. We were also able to do laundry and there was a clothes line on the terrace that we could set up. There is a grocery store a few doors down which is quite convenient.
We were very happy with this stay and will certainly try to stay here again.
My wife and I travelled with our inlaws and stayed in this apartment. The owner was very helpful providing directions and meeting us at the apartment on the day we arrived. It was a short (10 minute) walk from the train station, although with the 90+ degree heat we were all very tired!
The location of the property is amazing. Very close to the Duomo and near the big market area.
The apartment was very clean and well maintained and had lots of room for our group of 4. For the price and the location the apartment was excellent and we'd definitely recommend it to others.
There were just a couple issues we ran into:
1. The hot water seemed to not work very regularly. Even being the first to shower at 4:30am there still might not be any hot water. Sometimes it was luke warm, sometimes it was downright cold.
2. The mattresses in the beds could use an update. They weren't very supportive
Overall we really enjoyed the apartment and chalked up both issues to part of the "charm" of being in an older building in such a great location.
We traveled as a family of three (parents and teenager) to both Rome and Florence. Upon arrival we were met by the owners who introduced us to the apartment and offered to assist us in printing out tickets for the museums.
The apartment is exactly as you see in the pictures, accommodations were perfect for us. It is in the center of Florence and literally five minutes from everywhere. The apartment is very clean and has everything you could need, although it would have been great to have laundry detergent available, rather than needing to buy from the grocery store. We fell in love with the view from the terrace and opted to eat there every evening utilizing the grocery store to prepare simple pasta and cheese dishes and then venturing out for gelato and dessert. The kitchen is small but very functional. Our absolute favorite memories are of the terrace in the evening, enjoying the view, listening to the street noise/music and enjoying (several) bottles of wine.
