This characteristic two bedroom apartment is located on the top floor (fourth) with an elevator of an old Florentine liberty style palazzo. It is located in the heart of Florence one half block from the cathedral square. This is a no traffic street.
The flat has the most spectacular view of the Cathedral Dome with its lovely rooftop terrace (unforgettable views). It is situated on two floors. The entry level houses the two bedrooms (one with two single beds and one with a double bed) and 2 bathroom with a shower stall.
On the next floor (reached by a small wooden stairway) there is the living/dining area and small (but functional) kitchen alcove. There is a lovely corner fireplace in the living area.
Up a few steps is the study area with a day bed (single) and its spectacular view of the Cathedral dome. From the study you enter the terrace. The terrace has outdoor furniture and a big sun umbrella. The furnishings are comfortable and reflect the owners many travels to the far east.
We are a family of three: my husband is a doctor, my 30 year old son and I am a math teacher. We are native Florentines and we live on the third floor of the building. Our English speaking skills are fairly basic so please be patient and excuse any mistakes when responding.....thank you.
P.S. From my precedent American guest.
We stayed at a delightful place in Florence and want to let you know
about the place.
It is no problem communicating with Angela by e mail but she does
not speak English although her 30 year old son, Marco, speaks English.
The location is fantastic ! It is about a 10 minute walk from the train
station and smack in the middle of everything.
As a matter of fact, when you step out of the building you are in one
of the main thoroughfares and surrounded by about 4 restaurants and stores.
Amazing thing is that when you are in the flat you cannot hear the street
noise at all .. it is only when you are down on
the ground floor about to step through the door that you hear the street
So, you find number 11 .. press Angela's flat (she lives on the 2nd
floor and the flat is on the 3rd floor) and she meets you at the door. You
go through the old main door .. then an iron gate .. then up a short
stairs and you come to the elevator; which is amazing in itself. It is a
modern elevator but will hold only 2 people .. or one with bunch of luggage.
The unit itself is on 3 levels .. as you enter there are 2 bedrooms
and 2 bath (shower) on the main floor. This can sleep a couple in the double
bed room .. and two singles (or 3 as there are also 1 extra bed!) or other couple in the other room.
The you walk up a short set of stairs and you arrive in the living room which has a fire place .. dining table and comfortable chairs. Also a kitchen well equipped whit microwave , mini oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher washing machine.
The you go up one more level to the study; which is attached to a marvelous roof top deck with fantastic view of the Florence
The study has a wonderful couch where one more person can sleep (sofa bed) .
Other than that .. what a find. The location is perfect .. I love all
the restaurants and shops around her place .. And we lit the fire in
the fireplace and it was marvelous .. to be able to make a cup of tea
in the kitchen .. on an on ..
I stayed in Angela’s apartment during the week of Christmas, with 3 other adults (two over the age of 70). We completely enjoyed our time in Florence, and it would be fair to say our stay at this property added to our experience. Even after reading reviews and seeing pictures and the location on the map here, the view in person from the terrazza looking toward the Duomo was more stunning than I had envisioned. Also, facing the other direction are the Medici chapels and Laurentine Library. It is located on a very busy street with shops and restaurants below; yet, this noise does not reach the inside of the apartment. There is a grocery store just a few doors down. Two or three short blocks away is the San Lorenzo leather street market, as well as inside produce market, with a food court type area above. It is about a 15-minute walk from the train station, when orienting yourself the first time, and even with lots of luggage. Once familiar with it, though, it is a quick, direct walk to the station, which makes it easy to catch trains for day trips. As noted, there is one flight of stairs outside the apartment before getting to the elevator. (They helped us with bags when we arrived.) The apartment is on 3 levels, but the rooms are on the first floor when you enter from the elevator, which is very convenient. The bathrooms have larger showers than one typically finds in Italy. Another plus about this apartment was the living room. It could comfortably seat all of us at once. There is so much to do and see in Florence that we weren’t in the apartment very much. The times we were, however, we appreciated this option. The table out on the balcony was a good size as well, and the views out there, of course, are the highlight of this apartment. (When you climbed the Duomo, you could see and wave to those back on your balcony.) The kitchen is not only stocked with place settings, but also basic ingredients for a few meals you may cook. This makes using the kitchen more practical than if you had to purchase all the ingredients from scratch. Angela was easy to work and communicate with from the day I first inquired about the apartment, and she was just as warm and friendly in person, a wonderful introduction to the Italian people and culture. I have stayed in hotels and another Homeaway property in Florence before, and even though all were good accommodations, I would still check availability for Angela’s apartment before looking anywhere else, upon a future visit!!
My friend and I brought both of our mothers to Florence for the Christmas holiday and stayed in this lovely apartment. It was a wonderful experience - truly amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. All the rooms were comfortable, the bathrooms were just fine, and the kitchen adequate. There is a washing machine, which was very helpful, and the views from the rooftop terrace were absolutely stunning. I wanted to stay there forever. Sitting up there even in winter was an unforgettable experience, looking at the Duomo, listening to the bells from Giotto's Tower, and breathing in the beauty. The elevator worked well, and everything was neat and clean. The owners were so gracious and brought us cookies on Christmas Day! I accidentally left a package at the apartment and they so generously mailed it back to me in California. I could not recommend this apartment highly enough. only hope it is available next time I go to Florence.
Great location - Great view
Close to train for day trips and close to all the action of Florence. The view from terrace is Fabulous. The place is clean and well taken care of. Recommended for families and couples.
There is a steep stairway to 2nd floor -- difficult for people that have a hard time getting around or that have little ones..
This apartment was truly amazing. The view is more breathtaking than the photos and we spent all of our free time on the deck. Angela and her family were the kindest, most lovely hosts and we felt as if they were family by the time we left. The location is perfect - near the train station and all of the places you want to be in Florence. A grocery store is right below the apartment. There are many places to relax and the bedrooms are very comfortable. I cannot say enough and have already booked the apartment for my trip in February.
Perfect location - literally just around the corner from the Duomo, with a stunning view from terrace. Bedrooms are comfortable, with air conditioning. Living room and library are lovely, comfortable and also air conditioned. Terrace is phenomenal- bigger than photos indicate - views even better! Elevator is tiny but entirely functional. Hosts are wonderful- there to welcome us, helpful and warm. They provided maps, advice and suggestions for dinner spots. A lovely place!
Angela and Sandro are perfect hosts. They were at the flat to meet us, and showed us through the three story apartment completely. The street is pedestrian only, but the flat is easily accessed from either the Duomo or P. Di San Lorenzo in two minutes. The buidling has a modern elevator. The street is full of several excellent restaurants, many of which Sandro and Angela personally recommend. The flat could easily sleep six - two full bedrooms and two full baths. It has a wood burning fireplace, tile floors, a nice kitchen with a great washing machine. The best part of this flat is the rooftop garden room with a spectacular view of the Duomo. The area is very quiet - only birds chirping!
I have been to Italy 30 times, and I thought this flat was one of the most comfortable and best located ever - rent this flat for the vacation of your lifetime!
