This property is perfectly situated to walk to the Grand Canyon Railway or Route 66 filled with great little shops and restaurants. During the summer months the town is bustling with tourists from all over the world visiting the Grand Canyon. The town of Williams hosts a wild west shoot out on the the street (route 66) every night at 7:00 pm. And there are local attractions such as Bearizona, deer farm and Williams mountain for skiing and tubing that are minutes away.

While the home wasn't as described, this review reflects the owner's attitude more than anything. First, she gave us directions and access to a different property. When we arrived with young children, I called and texted her to let her know this wasn't the house we rented. After 2 hours of trying to reach her, our calls went directly to voicemail and I was very confident she was trying not to deal with her error. Out of desperation because it was 9pm, I asked my mother to call her (she had a different area code and Melanie might not send her calls to voicemail). It worked! She answered right away, then started berating my mother saying she had a "bad attitude" and that she didn't want us staying at her property and that she'd evicted prior renters. We stayed one night, but didn't feel safe in a home that she had access to. We checked out the following morning and stayed in a hotel for the rest of our trip. DON'T give this owner the benefit of the doubt as I did. Find another place to stay before you end up paying for this place and another place to stay! You'll be happy you did!
IF you find you absolutely must rent this place, ONLY do it through VRBO's system. Don't let her send you a PayPal request because you won't get refunded when something goes wrong. And DON'T communicate with her via cell phone. ONLY email her through VRBO. That way, VRBO has a record of it. We didn't do that, so we are out the money we payed, and the owner won't refund. At least not yet. If she does, I'll update my review.
As for the home itself, it smelled like mildew, there were cracks in flooring and walls, and the TVs didn't work (it seemed to be the satellite system).
I read negative reviews ahead of time (owner removed posting and has now reposted somehow without those negative reviews), but thought that travelers could be the problem. I gave her the benefit of the doubt given other positive reviews. Never again, and a good lesson learned. I'm confident she will try to post a response discounting us as travelers, but we have used VRBO for years and have had all wonderful experiences. Be forewarned.
My family of 6 stayed in this home for 3 days during our visit to the Grand Canyon. We loved the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed grilling during the evenings on the patio. The home was very clean and nice linens and comfortable beds. The home is older but has been beautifully renovated and has alot of charm. Williams was a great place to visit and we enjoyed going to Bearizona (literally 5 min from the home) and walking around to all the different shops and restaurants. We cant say enough nice things about the owners who truly took great care of us and promptly answered any questions we had. We highly recommend this home to any travelers and would gladly stay again.
Thank you to the owners of the Grand Canyon Casa. We loved staying here. The location was absolutely the best. We walked each night to dinner. The home is nicely renovated with modern furnishings and very comfortable bedding. We had such a relaxing stay and would definitely rent this home again. It had everything we needed.
This is my first experience using a vacation rental home. We met up with my in laws and their family here to spend a long weekend visiting and sightseeing at the Grand Canyon. The home was very clean and cozy. We felt very welcome and had a great stay. We fit 2 families of 4 here with lots of room to spare. Melanie was great to work with and even made accommodations with our requests for different check in times. This home is really close to Route 66 and Bearizona(doesn't open till March 1st), as well as a variety of diners to choose from and a grocery store nearby. We are planning our next trip to the Grand Canyon and plan on staying here again!
The listing description was accurate and the location was excellent. In fact, we parked our car at the house and did not use it the entire weekend. The house itself was very clean and the bedding/towels were 5 star. There was plenty of room for everyone - enjoyed having a kitchen for weekend. The owner provided timely communications. We enjoyed the area and the little shops within walking distance.
We stayed in the house 2 for nine days. Location was excellent for exploring the Grand Canyon and surroundings. We found the house in perfect condition, well equipped and very clean. The ambiance of the house is comfortable and the layout excellent.
Melanie was very helpful during the entire process of renting and clarifying the questions we had.
Williams is a nice city with a very commerce; besides has a very good supermarket (Safeway) with prices lower than in Houston, TX.
We recommend this house for vacation.
