Al Pozzo dei Scoacamini or in english The Chimney Sweep Well apartment is located in one of the most historical parts of Venice, the sestiere of San Marco. The apartment has two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, closets and chest of drawers. Each bedroom also has a queen size bed. One of the queen size beds can be converted into two twin/single beds if you prefer. There is a sitting area where you can sit and relax. There is also a television and DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave/ oven. A refrigerator and freezer. A dishwasher and all things necessary to cook with. The dining room table seats four but can be made larger and will seat up to eight people.
We are new European travelers so we did not know what to expect. If you are American and have not done this before it will take a little getting use to the smaller size of things. With that said.... now that we have stayed in multiple European VRBO locations on our trip we can stay that this was one of the best best for what it has to offer. In a building that was constructed likely before America was even discovered this was a very updated and Modern apartment. It is a SOLID two bedroom apartment with a comfortable living area. The bedrooms are very large and the bathrooms are outstanding. Everything is updated and new. The remodel was done very well. It has a view of the canal just outside one of the VERY Large windows. You can open it and literally say hello to the Gondolas that travel by constantly. I would stay here again no doubt. The owner is also very helpful and kind. The only critiques I have are likely an american viewpoint. We are use to very well lit homes at night. It was hard to read in the evening without extra lighting. This is not a negative on this house. I think it is more of a European thing as we noticed it in all locations. You will need to have a go with the flow attitude when traveling aboard for the first time.
This apartment, conveniently located just a few blocks from St. Mark's Place, was an absolute delight! The owner, Kimberly, was very helpful and timely with communications and advice. The apartment was so charming, with every attention having been paid to the details of the decor, which really reflected a love of Venice. The apartment was spotless and had every amenity we needed (although if we were into cooking and eating a lot of meals in, we might have needed more kitchen equipment, dishes and glassware.) The big draw for us was that the apartment overlooks a canal, and gondolas glide by all day long. Could it be any more romantic? We had a spectacular stay and would highly recommend this property for stays in Venice!
We stayed in this delightful apartment with another couple and it was fabulous. The location was in walking distance to everything, close to the Rialto Bridge and market, and a quick walk to San Marco Piazza. We enjoyed sitting at the table with our antipasti platter, vino rosso, and watched all the gondola's and boats as they passed our window each day. We felt like we had the gondola experience just from watching and listening to the musicians sing as they passed. The apartment was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed and Kimberly was great.
We were 2 couples and spent 6 nights in this terrific apartment which exceeded our expectations
It was immaculate. And sooo convenient
to major attractions
The owner Kimberly is delightful --she went above and beyond to orient us to the apt and area. And to respond to all our needs
Even meeting us at dock to guide us to the apt
Would highly recommend this property
My sister and I stayed here for three nights. The location was fabulous; a very easy walk from the Rialto vaporetto stop, and only a few minutes walk to St Marks Square. Kimberley's instructions to get to the apartment were very easy to understand, and check in was easy. The beds were extremely comfortable, the apartment very clean, and the best part was of course watching the gondolas glide by the window. We had issues with the power at one stage, and after contacting Kimberley, the problem was looked into very quickly. We would definitely recommend this apartment, and would love to stay there again!
There's a reason Kimberly's 46 Reviews are all 5 star. It's because HomeAway doesn't allow 6 star reviews!
A beautifully renovated, secluded, easy access (ground floor) apartment just off the Rialto - San Marco trial. Two large bedrooms, modern kitchen and laundry, a private courtyard and a spectacular view of the canal and gondolas right outside your dining room window. What more could you want?
I spent a bit of time tracking this rental down from some references on the internet and it was worth the effort. Kimberly and her family live in the same building and she was extremely gracious, helpful and a native English speaker.
If you want to get as close to the authentic Venetian experience as a short stay visitor can, this is the location. I can't wait to stay again and couldn't recommend the Chimney Sweep Well more highly. Thank you again Kimberly.
San Marco is one of six sestrieri that make up the city of Venice. It is the most visited by tourists of the six. There are many historically significant attractions located in San Marco. There is the famous Saint Mark's square. Saint Mark's Basilica. The Doge's palace (a gothic palace where the Doge's lived). The Doge ( doge derives from latin, which in english means Duke) Various doge's ruled Venice for over 1,000 years. The chiesa (church) of San Moise. The famous La Fenice (the phoenix) theatre. Harry's Bar which was made famous by Ernest Hemingway and many other celebrities that visited it over many years. This is only the tip of the iceberg of all the places you can visit in San Marco and Venice. There are another 5 sestrieri to visit.
