This place was as great as advertised, if not better. I came out with a big group of friends (10) and it was our first time in Oregon/the Portland area. We were looking for a place that wasn't in the heart of downtown Portland, yet not too hard to access downtown, and this was the perfect place. The house is very spacious and has a comfortable, welcoming vibe. My friends and I joked that we couldn't even choose a couch to sit on because there were so many. The host was very responsive and had instructions throughout the house on any questions you could have. I definitely will be staying here again, if possible, on my next visit to the area.

"Our 11 person extended family stayed here for a family reunion over labor day weekend and I just can't say enough about how fabulous this Riverfront vacation property was for us!! There was plenty of room for our group gatherings. We sat on the downstairs couches and talked for hours. The several of us watched a few movies upstairs in the large open very nice common area. The kitchen was sufficiently well equipped and the large grill was on the deck. We swam every day in what were the warm, calm, slow moving waters of the Tualatin River off the backyard dock. We rented kayaks for one whole day from the park just upstream of us and explored up and downstream -- all loads of fun, exceptionally beautiful, and exciting. (We found a secret rope swing for more fun!) "

What a gorgeous place this is. The Raccette family had a fantastic Thanksgiving here. We could not have asked for a more beautiful home or a more gracious host. Thank you so much for everything Debbie."

"We had such a great time. We celebrated with a grand dinner, evening of fishing, topped it off with marshmallows around the fire pit. There was plenty of space to stretch out and never felt crowded. We loved sipping coffee on the deck in the morning. Many memories."

"This is a very comfortable home, in a beautiful and fun filled setting!! There are homes on either side, but one was totally hidden by mature evergreen bushes, and the other is largely oriented to ensure a level of privacy. And, while we were there we felt as though we were far from civilization, in fact we were only 10 minutes from Costco, Whole Foods Market and all sorts of shopping! Not to mention, only 20 mins from downtown Portland and all the many excellent restaurants in the area."

Tualatin is an upscale community just 15 miles south of Portland. This riverfront property is ideally located between Portland's two main freeways, I5 & I205, which makes this home 15-30 minutes to anywhere in Portland. Private and comfortable, this is country living with easy access to everywhere.

Riverfront House: This large riverfront property has all the comforts of home. The modern kitchen with granite counters opens onto the wrap around deck overlooking your own private dock. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes, glasses, pots & pans, even spices and condiments.

The main floor has the master bedroom (with tv) and guestroom with large living room and living area...while the upstairs has it's own family room (50 inch flat screen) and bedrooms.

The wrap around balcony overlooking your own private dock waiting for all the fun summer activities. Swim, kayak, paddle, or just float. There is plenty of outdoor space and ample outdoor seating for meals. You may even want to fish for dinner from your private fishing area. End your evening with s'mores around your own fire pit.

Attractions: We are conveniently located to all the major shopping malls in Portland. Only 10 minutes away is the new and upscale Bridgeport Village along with Clackamas Town Center on the I205 and Washington Square off I5 are only 15 minutes away.

Portland: Big city excitement and small town charm make Portland, Oregon, known as 'the City of Roses', one of the favorite destinations in the West. Portland is situated approximately 70 miles from the Pacific in a magnificent setting between the sparkling waters of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Portland's historic old town, galleries and museums, Saturday Market, and theatre companies will keep visitors busy for weeks! Its lush green parks are perfect for a picnic or an afternoon stroll.

Also, Portland is just a short distance from Willamette valley wineries, skiing at Timberline Lodge and all of the excitement and beauty of Oregon's spectacular ocean beaches. Portland was built with walking in mind. The short blocks, combined with public art and old fashioned statuary, fountains, bridges and parks offer opportunities for leisure and contemplation for the casual stroller.

Spent 3 days here with my family for my grandson's wedding. Wonderful house, comfortable and peaceful surroundings with a wonder view view. Thank you for sharing this very special space.

Thanks so much Debbie. Our family had a great time. We so appreciated the pantry and the spices and it made it so easy to prepare our meal. Thanks for being so flexible during our final contracting when our headcount changed.

Thank you so much for your gift of this awesome river home. It was the perfect place to host my family for my son's wedding. The home is the perfect location for it's proximity to the airport, Salem, wine country and especially the wedding venue. We had a very peaceful & relaxing visit and will fondly remember our time here. The Lamons

We arrived at the River House for a 5 night stay for our son's wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and return to the River House. It was wonderful.

There is room for at least 5 cars, so parking wasn't a problem. The living quarters are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so stairs are unavoidable. As a child we used to canoe and swim in the canal off Lake Oswego and swimming here was pretty close experience to this. But, if perhaps you are unfamiliar with this type of setting, young children should be wearing a life jacket anytime they are within access to the water.

Our stay at the River House was wonderful. Family vacations go much smoother in a house than a costly hotel. All of us enjoyed making smores at the fire pit and sitting by the water. The house suited all of our needs. We would recommend the River House to large groups with children as our party had four children. The location is beautiful and the roads made for great walking paths. Very wonderful experience and many memories were made here at our stay in Portland.

We are ten women who went to high school together – Class of ’69 Albany High, California. River House was a wonderful place to laugh, share and bond. Thank oyu for providing such a lovely and welcoming house.

This house has it all. It’s large, comfortable and very well stocked. The pictures highlight all the rooms the house has to offer. There is space for those who love to read, space for those that love to watch TV, the kitchen is large enough for several people so you have company while cooking, there is a room upstairs to play games, put puzzles together and you have access to a computer to research what to do in the area. The location is great! You’re close to shopping and incredible restaurants in downtown Portland. If this is your first visit to the area and you have a sweet tooth, check out Voodoo doughnuts. It’s quite the experience. If you like to read, a trip to Powell’s Book Store is a must. It’s the largest used & new bookstore in the world. Enjoy!

This home is cheerful, comfortable and fun! Even though it rained while we were there and we couldn't use the outdoor fire pit, there was a wonderful wood stove we could have used. The home had a great view of the river and it was so quiet and serene, yet close to everything you would need to eat, do or see. There was plenty of everything you could need to feel right at home--from pantry items, to extra blankets, to toiletries

Our family stayed in this home for a weekend while in Oregon for a wedding. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and has everything you could need. Debbie is a fantastic host and one of the most throughout we've stayed with. Just a short drive from Portland, this would be a great way to experience the city, but also have plenty of space.

The house is so warm and cozy with a beautiful lay out. The fire pit is amazing and so wonderful to sit at while taking in the view of the water. This place was a dynamite retreat and I would highly recommend it.

Great Time with a Large Party

  • 5 of 5

We spent much of our time out and about in Portland and the surrounding areas but coming home to the River House was a dream. Nestled in a quiet little neighborhood it's a picturesque spot to sit around a fire and watch the river lazily drift by as the day winds down. An awesome get away from the city while only a 20 minute drive to downtown. House is very nicely stocked and suited for your large group.

Had a great time. Thank you, Debbie!

Had a great time

  • 4 of 5

Nice location, really felt away from it all. River view was beautiful. We rented a kayak and spent a day exploring the river. Enjoyed the fire pit. Home was clean and homey but definitely worn down and had a "rental" feel to it. Lots of stairs outside-steep spiral staircase and steep ramp to dock. Was a bit hairy navigating with my one year old. Two separate living areas were nice. Love the community leftovers in the pantry. We left skewers for the fire pit, box Mac and cheese, cans of Le Croix, etc. Fun time!

Owner's Response: The spiral staircase is on the back of the house - there is picture of it in the photos...there is a front staircase, also photo - that is sturdy and wide with hand rails so there is not reason to use the back stairs if it feels precarious... The dock rises and falls with the level of the river. It is August and the driest month of the year so the river is the lowest level... Soon, the dock will rise and you will walk straight out and then in the winter when there is lots of rain, you will walk UP the dock rather than down the dock.. As far as the house feeling worn....everyone loves the house. The inside pictures on this SITE are very accurate. This renter felt like I should upgrade the appliances but they are JennAir and no need to fix what isn't broke... The only really worn thing is the outside house needs painting along with power wash and paint the deck...which will be happening next Spring...

Great location; Quiet; Relaxing; Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We used the house as a base camp for visiting wine country (Dundee), downtown Portland and Mt. Hood. Looks like a wonderful place to kayak or paddle board, but we were too busy. Deck is a peaceful place to eat or chat. It was very comfortable for 6-10. You might feel cramped trying to feed 14, but the 2 family rooms would make sharing the house with multiple generations easy for everyone. Well stocked. Feels more remote than it is. I would not recommend driving an RV down the road due to it's narrowness, but we didn't have any trouble with our car or Suburban. Everyone said they slept well.

Large spacious home on the Tualatin River.

  • 4 of 5

July 2017

Our family of 6 just spent a very enjoyable 6 day stay at the Tualatin House. This home had everything we needed, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen & bathrooms, a fire pit for smores, large barbeque, fishing, & boating on the river. Everything is provided at this house which is rarely done in vacation rentals. We used many items that were there and we also bought and left items for other people who might be renting this home in the coming weeks. We found there was great access to shopping close by & enjoyed attending a great church just up the road from the house. We were privledged to meet the owner of the property one of the days we were there. She was very pleasant & accommodating and provided us with an item we needed to use a blow up boat on the River. The property is shaded by large trees and is very quiet & private. There are 6 very comfortable beds at the home which was more than enough for our family group. Our sons family took the upper level and we the lower level. There is ample room for privacy and quiet time for all who stay here. Our son caught 2 trout in the river and our 5 yr old grandson caught his first fish in the River. We enjoyed our stay here very much. Thank You Debbie Gerber.

STAY AWAY - Unprofessional-Manic Owner

  • 1 of 5

Looks good on paper with 12 sleepers but DO NOT BOOK, This lady is outta her mind, bugging us over text messages going on angry rants on how we did not put the bed/dishes away and blaming us for ridiculous things, like missing spoons n towels!! Extremely Petty non-sensical cleaning issues, ruining our weekend getaway. Owner charged us for imaginary damages, without even asking. Save yourself the headache, book elsewhere! you will thank me later.

Owner's Response: This is my 6th year on VRBO/HomeAway and I can't remember a bad review. Take a look and let me know if you find one...Our goal is to make sure everyone has a perfect experience. Read the reviews as that is what the guests tell me - how much they love the River House, how everything is provided, how it is actually more beautiful than the pictures and how accommodating I am. Over 200 rentals on just this house and I have rarely kept a dime of a security deposit...someone breaks a cup or a glass, spills on the carpet, marks the wall...I never do anything. I txtd when this group left and their words exactly was - they had a great time.. We only ask a few things on check out - please put towels in laundry room, don't strip beds, start the dishwasher with your last load of dishes..take out the garbage..and put everything back if you moved it.. We have a few hours to get ready for the next group...we have rarely had an issue with these things getting done... My housekeeper rarely complains but she was very upset after this group..THE ISSUE was someone threw up all over the walls in the hall, all over the door to the bathroom, the walls inside and no one cleaned it up. When I asked the renter, he said, we are sincerely sorry - no excuses, we must have missed that throw not - oh no one could have done that - they knew what had happened...Anyway, read other reviews if you want the true picture of The River House...
