About Bob and Debbie Kossick

My husband and I grew up in the Bay Area, but always dreamed of moving closer to Lake Tahoe. We relocated to El Dorado Hills, CA and took numerous family vacations to South Lake Tahoe dreaming of purchasing a Chalet in Tahoe Tyrol--a Private Community at the base of Heavenly Valley. Our dream came true in 2004 when we purchased our Chalet and began to remodel it from the 1970's decor to a mountain-themed dream home. We hope you will enjoy our chalet as much as we do--it is our pride and joy!

Bob and Debbie Kossick purchased this chalet in 2004

Why Bob and Debbie Kossick chose South Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Tyrol is a unique private community in South Lake Tahoe, CA. These beautiful homes are clustered together with hand-painted designs which make you feel like you are in a Bavarian Village! You won't believe your eyes when you drive through the community--it is truly one-of-a-kind!!! Our three large bedrooms, Kid's Loft with flat screen television and WII-U, large deck with adult and kid's picnic tables and BBQ along with the nearby seasonal pool and year-round spa and sauna make it the perfect family or multi-family retreat!

What makes this chalet unique

While staying in our Chalet, we hope you feel right at home. It is very cozy, has a conversation pit/gas fireplace area, three large bedrooms with bear, moose and white-tail deer themes and other mountain decor throughout along with the sleeper sofa in family room it can sleep from 6 to 8 adults. The kids loft sleeps up to 6 children and features an air hockey table and a flat screen television with WII-U. A private balcony off the master bedroom and kids loft offers a quiet sitting area with adirondack chairs. The rear deck has a large gas bbq, adult and kid's picnic tables. Televisions in the family room, in all bedrooms, and kids loft make it feel just like home!!! Finally, the Chalet is ideal for grandparents or older guests as there are only two steps from the carport into the house and there is a master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. Even though you feel like you are in the middle of the forest, our Black Bear Chalet is close to everything Tahoe. Heavenly Ski Resort, Stateline Nevada with Casinos, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, shopping, hiking, mountain biking, THE LAKE (boating, water skiing, parasailing, swimming, a variety of beaches, picnic areas, etc), minature golf, bowling, ice skating, historic sites, and the list goes on. If you have never been to Lake Tahoe or have been there many times, it will never cease to amaze you!!!

Great Experience at the Black Bear Chalet

  • 5 of 5

I coach two soccer teams and we made the trip to S. Lake Tahoe for a tournament. The grandmother of one of my players stayed at this place the year before when we came up and recommended the Black Bear Chalet. I am not sure who I should thank more - the grandmother or Bob and Debbie. The house is in the convenient community of Tahoe Tyrol. You are away from all the hustle and bustle of the strip but still only minutes from the lake, stores, restaurants, casinos, movies, parks, schools and more. The layout of the home is perfect for families, sports teams or other groups. The main floor has the kitchen, dining room, living room, fireplace area as well as a nice deck space. The couches were a comfortable place to relax after being out at the soccer fields for hours. Parents will likely gather in this area to cook, watch TV or enjoy the scenery from the deck. The second floor loft area is amazing for kids and young adults. There is a large TV with WII and an air hockey table. The beds in the loft were a perfect layout and allowed players to sleep in the loft and parents to stay and sleep in the rooms. The kitchen area had plenty of utensils to prepare meals. Bring your own spices or grab what you need at the Safeway down the street. The washer and dryer worked great and allowed us to wash player uniforms. On top of all the great features of the chalet you will find Bob and Debbie very friendly and responsive to your inquiries. Each time I emailed them with a question I received a prompt response back. I will be coming back to the Black Bear Chalet and recommend anyone with kids, large family or a small group stay here too! Thumbs up!

One of the best VRBO properties we have ever stayed in

  • 5 of 5

The house is really nicely done. Bob and Debbie have put in a lot of effort into doing the house and it is extremely comfortable. We were a group of 12 on a family get together during my daughter's competition in the area. Everyone loved the house and had a great time. The house was extremely well equipped. We had a great time and look forward to visiting it again. Owners were extremely nice and flexible on special requests. The location is great with easy access to the lake and the Heavenly area.

Great for trip with kids

  • 5 of 5

We took my daughter's girl scout troop for the weekend. 8 kids and 4 adults; we all fit very comfortably and plenty of room for the kids to play games, lounge, etc. There was PLENTY of electronic options but we opted to go electronic free, except for 1 movie night. There were tons of board games and the girls loved it! Every morning us moms had coffee on the porch in the crisp cool air. It was so nice! I would highly recommend for multiple families or a trip like ours (many kids).

Debbie was very easy to work with and communicate with. There were a few things broken when we got there, so I let her know via email just so we weren't held responsible...but nothing that impacted our trip and she made sure that was the case. The place was clean, beds were comfortable, and plenty of extra bedding to accommodate everyone getting to sleep where they wanted. We put 7 girls in the loft and it worked well. She even gave me some ideas of things in the area so I could create a fun scavenger hunt for the girls.

The only negative, and even this isn't worth docking the rating, is that some of the kitchen cookware is a bit older. It didn't have EVERY thing we would've had if we were at home, but we absolutely made do with what we had and would go again in a heartbeat!

We initially went because we wanted to be close to a beach, but the full Saturday we were there, it was pretty cold and the girls were tired. So, they opted for the pool (which was mildly heated) and they spent hours there, and no one else was there. It was a huge luxury we didn't even think we'd take advantage of.

The location is perfect too!! We were a two minute drive from the grocery store and could've been a good hiking area, had we opted for that. It's close to everything but just enough away that you don't feel like you're in the busy Tahoe area.

Great cabin that is close to everything

  • 4 of 5

The location of this cabin was fantastic. We had a short drive to all of our destinations. Inside, the cabin had plenty of space for our family. The kids loved the loft area. The cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The community pool was a big plus for the kids! The only thing we wer missing was some outdoor play space for the kids. They eventually made their way to the yard area below the deck, but found it hard getting down there. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Black Bear Chalet A+++

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our 1 week stay at the Black Bear Chalet and couldn't be any more happy with our choice and experience. Owners kept open lines of communication throughout our booking and our stay which made the vacation that more stress free. House is clean and well kept. Easily accessible and in a perfect location on the South Side of Lake Tahoe. Easy Access to the shore & beaches, stateline Casinos, and shopping. And to top it off access to community pool that was just icing on the cake. In perfect vicinity of Heavenly Valley Ski Resort for the winter months, will definitely consider booking again in the future. Highly recommend!!!

Awesome Chalet

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived we were super excited about the choice we made. The chalet is amazing! The view of the lake from the deck, the distance to stateline and shopping, the space, all the games for the kids, etc, etc! We LOVED IT!! Will definitely book again on our next Tahoe visit I can't rave enough!! We happened to visit during a crazy hail storm so you can't see the lake but the house is amazing!!!
