The bucolic setting provides for a zen-like getaway and is a favorite of the senior vacationer. The home is one story throughout, no steps and one of the few Santa Ynez Valley ranch houses that accepts pets. The lawn and tree filled south garden is completely fenced for your beloved pet. The ranch is located close to everything in the central part of the Santa Ynez Valley and is a short drive to the township of Santa Ynez and charming village of Los Olivos. Your valley getaway home is at the end of a private road with the property facing the Santa Ynez Mountain range. Experience magical sunsets, quail, hawks and the sound of silence from your comfortable patios. The great room is huge with high rustic wood ceilings. The country style kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and entertaining, . All three bedrooms have comfortable mattresses w/ fine linens, quilts and down comforters. Comfortable seating areas in park like garden with expansive lawn, rose shrubs, lavender, mature oak trees. Adirondack seating for six guests on front porch. Owner allows for flexibility in creating your own perfect wine country or golfing vacation. The climate and small town environment bring winter vacationers from the East Coast, Washington, Oregon and Canada during November through March. The Fall and Spring provide the best weather in the Santa Ynez Valley. The gardens surrounding the ranch house invite you to relax, read, bird watch and take in the views and season of the year.

Internet Service: Wireless Internet available throughout the home and gardens. Bose stereo/cd/radio/ipod system. High Definition TV's with DISH cable service.

Extra convenient storage in super-sized attached garage for golf clubs, bicycles, kayaks. Garage is large enough for two vehicles. Two garage door clickers. The attached garage has windows with views.

Home is set up with passive eco panel heating for allergy sufferers. No wall to wall carpeting. Clean rustic tile throughout. The tile is immaculate and frequently sanitized. Master bedroom is tastefully decorated with scandinavian pine antiques, providing one regular sized closet and a walk in closet. The Master bedroom has views of the oak garden with french doors leading out to your own "secret garden". Second Queen bedroom is furnished with antiques, large closet and view of front garden. A Third Queen bedroom is cozy, new comfortable memory foam mattress with a medium sized closet.

The laundry room is large and washer dryer front loading and super capacity. Detergent, laundry baskets, large ironing board and steam iron and all your cleaning and paper supplies that you will need during your stay..

The Country style kitchen has everything necessary for cooking up a storm. The refrigerator and pantry will be stocked with special items from organic coffee, cream, assortment of teas, cooking oil, spices, pasta and sauce. Silver and China available for nice dinner settings. The view of front garden from kitchen window is spectacular.

The seating area of the great room is furnished with oversized deep sofas, a huge stuffed chair/ottoman and lots of soft down pillows. The flat screen 46 inch HD TV and blu ray dvd player for maximum clarity. Dish Complete Programming. Bose stereo. Dining area and living room area have the best views in the house. Great room has extensive book collection, dvd's, games and a perfectly situated desk for your computer---also with a view.

The only sounds you will hear at night are the owls, crickets, an occasional lonely coyote and the wind in the trees. In the mornings, you will be serenaded by the dozens of California quail in your garden. Your beloved dog/s (limit of two small well mannered dogs) will enjoy a completely fenced super sized garden with lawn, trees and shrubs with easy access from garage, great room and master bedroom.

Location of ranch property provides Incredible panoramic views of Santa Ynez Mountains due to terraced open location. Ranch property is all level and well drained land. The most desirable features are mature trees and the property location at the end of a private road. Privacy and a sense of having the Santa Ynez Mountain range all to yourself.

What makes this house unique

The sense of being hidden away while at the same time appreciating incredible mountain views makes for the perfect setting to create a garden paradise with lush, protected, bird friendly garden areas surrounding the main ranch house. The barn and pasture areas are completely separate from the main house with separate driveways and is therefore ideal to maintain privacy, silence and a sense of your 'home away from home'.

My husband and I enjoyed a full week stay with my parents. This home has wheelchair access everywhere which really enhanced my father's enjoyment. What was so remarkable was the views from each room and the tropical lush garden surrounding the house. We walked the 2 mile loop of rural private roads right outside our front door every morning.

Would love to be able to come back during the holidays and enjoy the great wood burning fireplace.

Outstanding vacation home

Sheila, I and our poodle have been fortunate to stay at Carol and Arnie's ranch home twice a year (Spring & Fall) for the past 5 years. The home and surrounding grounds can only be described as outstanding, user friendly, peaceful and quiet. We'll be back again in early November '16, God willing, to enjoy the ranch and the Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Los Olivos areas. Absolutely outstanding-no kidding!

Paradise in the Valley

We are a retired couple from Kentucky that have stayed at Vista Verde Ranch during Thankgiving and the month of December for the past 3 years, and each year it gets better and better. We just love it at the ranch's so peaceful and the views are absolutely wonderful. Even during the month of December we have enjoyed sitting out on the patio enjoying "Miller Time" in the warm sunshine. Did I mention how big the house is, SUPER CLEAN and very easy to live in with a kitchen that is well-stocked with nice pans, dishes & pantry. Our daughter and her two dogs visit us during the Christmas week and she hates to leave at the end of the holiday period. The location of the ranch also makes visiting everywhere in Santa Ynez valley and Santa Barbara so easy. Carol and Arnie are so friendly and easy to work with that we feel like friends returning each year for a visit. We're pretty picky about where we stay and we can't say enough good things about Vista Verde Ranch. We feel like it is our home away from home and so look forward to our visits that we have already booked our next stay ... thank you Carol and Arnie for keeping such a wonderful retreat for all of us to enjoy.

A Bit of Heaven !!

Words cannot fully describe how my new husband Al and I feel about the ranch...we just feel like we found a second home away from home! Carol and Arnie have thought of everything, no detail has been overlooked! The decor is sophisticated ranch and yet the ranch is a working one...which we just love!

After marrying on a local vineyard, just before our arrival at the ranch, we were looking to relax and just breathe and enjoy the peace and quiet along with the lifestyle in the Valley. And boy did that work! We spent two wonderful months at the ranch and this year will be returning for a longer stay. Relatives who came for a visit are now returning for their own stay this fall, a true testament to the wonderful experience they had. We plan on returning every year and look forward to sharing our positive experiences each year. Santa Ynez Valley is such an idyllic place , when you stay at Vista Verde Ranch it becomes magical!!! Thank you, Carol and Arnie we look forward to seeing you soon.

Shangrala in California's Central Coast area

My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at the Herrera's ranch for the past several years-usually in the Spring and then again in the Fall. The home and their surrounding horse property are outstanding. We look forward to each visit. It is truly Shangrala in village of Santa Ynez.

How many ways can you say perfect

Vista Verde was absolutely perfect. We spent a week in Santa Ynez for a wedding and enjoyed the entire valley fron this perfect location. The home has everything you could ever want or need. The decor is impeccable, the views are out of this world, and the serenity is wonderful. The home is spacious and gave us room to spreAd out. We will be coming back again next year.

Our 3rd summer visit to the Vista Verde Ranch and this must sound like a broken record, but again it was fantastico!!! Carol and Arnie provide such a beautiful home in such a spectacular setting, it's hard to imagine a summer without a visit.

Having submitted two previous glowing reviews, I've run out of superlatives to describe this heavenly property. Really the only thing I could add is that for anyone reading these reviews, if you get a chance try and book a stay at the ranch. I guarantee that it will be an experience that you will cherish forever.

Thanks again Carol and Arnie for allowing us a most glorious respite from the stifling AZ guys are the best!!

Horse farms are spread throughout the valley's towns of Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Solvang and Buellton. The vacation rental is the main residence of a five acre pristine valley ranch with beautiful views of the white fenced irrigated pastures. The home is surrounded by lawn, oak trees and incredible views of both Figureoa and Santa Ynez mountain ranges. The valley climate is mild with Fall and Winter day temperatures averaging 65 to 75 degrees and night temperatures dropping to 35 to 45 degrees. Golf is very popular-Alisal River Course and the San Marcos Golf Course - open year round & 10 minute drive from your vacation home. The residence is located within a prestigious community at the end of a private road. Enjoy bird watching, walking, running and cycling by stepping out the door of your home away from home.

Other Activities: wine touring galore, Town of Los Olivos wine tasting, shopping in quaint Danish town of Solvang, championship golfing, bird watching in your own gardens, hiking in the Figueroa Mt. range, fishing at Lake Cachuma, guided boat tours of Lake Cachuma eco system.
