This professionally decorated home is centrally located between Orlando, Daytona Beach, and St. Augustine. Lake House Blue is at the end of a dock that stretches over 250 feet from the land for the ultimate in privacy. This beautiful home has upscale amenities inside (granite & stainless steel) with outdoor decks all around the house. There are two screened porches with rocking chairs, and one hammock. Bring your boat, or fish and crab on every side of the house. Relax while watching wildlife like Ospreys, Herons, Anhingas and the occasional Bald Eagle. ....GET AWAY FROM IT ALL.....YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID....

Fresh water Fishing: Fishing is good almost all year around. This lake made it's reputation on large mouth Bass, with tournaments coming out of Palatka on the St. Johns River. For our BOATERS we have TIDE SLIDES to moor your boat tight to the dock and move with the tide and waves.

About Dean Ellis

Our family has used this lake house as our get away from it all escape from reality. We have been pressured for many years to rent this property so everyone can get to enjoy one of Florida's most hidden and unusual secrets. Henry David Thoreau said ' A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive features' A lake with a house in the middle of it is nature as it's best. We are very sorry we can't share our Lake House Blue with Mr. Thoreau, but we are sure he would love it....

Dean Ellis purchased this house in 1978

Why Dean Ellis chose North Central Florida

We bought this lake house because we wanted to get back to the old Florida of days gone by. This area has changed very little compare to other parts of Florida. Just 25 miles North in Palatka was as far south people came around the turn of the 20th century. The great people of that era names like President Grant, Mrs. Lincoln, wanted to see the wild Florida and all it's natural wonders. Palatka had as many 100 Paddle Wheel boats tied up at the city docks. Years later Babe Ruth came a couple of years and taught a base ball school. Highway 17 is the original highway to Florida as well as US1 on the East coast. These are the things that I saw when my parents brought me thru this area in the 1950's. It made a lasting impression on me and I get to enjoy this area today just like I was a kid again...

What makes this house unique

This is a one of a kind home with class, modern features, and a view from every window and door. Wildlife is all around and likes to show off for our guest. Bald Eagles,Osprey's, Ducks,Blue Heron's,White Egret's, even an occasional Manatee. This is just the beginning because every month has a different supply of nature's best. Come experience the wonders of nature at it best....

The "Real Florida"

  • 5 of 5

Lake House Blue and the surrounding region is truly Florida at its finest. Our stay at Lake House Blue was an exceptional affair. The affair was short-lived, but long lasting in our memories. We are Florida natives (Jacksonville), and have camped, lodged, fished, vacationed and relaxed in every part of the state; from Key West to the springs of the northern regions, but Lake House Blue was an incomparable treat. During our stay we were transported to a part of Florida that few have seen, and less have experienced. From the first fish we caught, to the last meal we ate, we enjoyed every minute.

Our time at “The House” seemed to go by as if it were fluid. The days were occupied by fishing, sunbathing, and just plain relaxing. Whereas the nights were full of the smell of the grill cooking, the feel of the cool night breeze off the lake, and board games. The wildlife and the surrounding scenery created a calming setting; which any individual, at any age, will find not only soothing, but reassuring. While we were on the lake we observed various birds and fish. Even though we did not see any manatees, we did see a few “gators”. The sights and sounds of the lake instilled a passion in everyone, reminding us that there is still a beauty in nature that cannot be replicated by man. The heat of the day, complimented by the cool of the afternoon rain-showers, is an occurrence that everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing at least once in their lifetime. The hot days followed by the cool evenings produced a sub-tropical feel, and generated a surreal sensation that will survive in our memories forevermore. Likewise, the magnificent lighting shows that occurred occasionally were a sight to see; electrifying in their brilliance, beautiful in their magnificence, and breathtaking in their grandeur. The hospitality of our host was awesome. Every advantage that our host could allow us was given, every amenity was secured, and every question answered. The completeness of the accommodations was flawless. From the maritime motif, to the provisions provided, Lake House Blue was impeccable. The look, feel, and ambiance of “The House” were picture-perfect. We felt as if the Ellis family had read our minds and then proceeded to fulfill our Florida fantasies. We are hoping (actually yearning) to go back. We had such a “Florida experience” I believe even Hemmingway would be envious.

Owner's Response: WOW!!! This review is off the charts in our book. We are so pleased that you took the time to say in detail what we have known for over 40 years but we could never find the words to say it as well as you did here. We have had so many requests from friends and family to rent this house over the years because they said this is a spot in Florida that everyone should experience. We heard this so many times that we just had to start sharing it with others. This is the kind of response we have hoped for. We felt if we could provide a home that was comfortable then nature could take it from there. Thank you for being being our guest at Lake House Blue and it was our pleasure to have you!!

Beautiful Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just celebrated our 24th anniversary at this beautiful Lake House. It was so peaceful and relaxing and one of the few places that still has the Old Florida feel! Every room has a waterfront view and you can fish anywhere. They provided everything you need and the house is decorated very nice. Look forward to returning!

Owner's Response: We thank you very much for a great review. Sometimes when people buy a vacation home they want to make it modern and bring it completely up to date. Then many years later someone else may want to put it back the way it was when it was new. That is because it is easy to loose sight of the changes that will remove all of the previous charm the house may have had. We choose to update but not gut this unusual home many years ago. This is OLD FLORIDA ...and some may remember this area and era, but others could be enjoying this part of Florida for the first time. We think somethings are worth saving and should not be changed so much that time catches up to the past....We are always willing to share our piece of Florida history with our guest...

Amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Lake House Blue. Everything was well stocked and the beds were amazing! I really enjoyed the hammock on the porch in the mornings and evenings and the view from every angle of the house is wonderful! We hope to return sometime in cooler weather before all of the bugs arrive!

Peace and tranquility at its finest.

  • 5 of 5

Amazing 3 nights at Lake House Blue. We didn't leave to venture anywhere as the view was so breathtaking and the home so cosy. Fully stocked with everything you would need, although we brought our own supplies. From the moment we opened the front door, the cute fishing decor, to the beautiful floors, we loved it all. We didn't have any luck fishing but enjoyed trying.

Beds were comfortable and we have memories to treasure forever. Just what the doctor ordered. Thank you Mr and Mrs Ellis for opening your home to us and sharing the beauty. We are hoping to make this a family tradition and book a visit each year.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for your wonderful review............ We learned the value of fishing from our parents who took us often and to many different places. Having a good fishing experience with your family or friends is about as good as it gets. No stress, peaceful surroundings, good clean fun for all and all ages. When our children were young we brought them to Lake House Blue often and shared our love for fishing with them. Now we share our home with friends from all different walks of life because we all have two very big things in common, the love of fishing, and a great appreciation for nature. Lake House Blue just bridges the gap....Nature deserves the glory........

Awesome family vacation

  • 5 of 5

I rented Lake House Blue as a family vacation with my adult children. From the moment we walked in until the day we left we enjoyed every minute there. The house is really beautiful and met all are needs. We spend our days fishing, kayaking and relaxing, we even took the short drive into St Augustine for an afternoon shopping trip. The convenience of a grocery store so close made it very easy to get dinner supplies and snacks. We are from Florida and have been to a lot of rental homes on the water and I must say this house was by far the best. After we got home the kids were calling me asking me if I booked the house yet for next year, that's something I plan to do.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review....We also thank you for visiting with us and are so glad you had a good time. ..In life their are times when words just can't describe some things very well, like family, vacations, great food, and good times that will be long remembered. All of this sometimes takes a little luck, planning, and the desire to be together and have a nice place to enjoy these momments of life. We are trying very hard to live up to our end of the bargain.....

Awesome getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Lake House Blue. Peaceful and serene. I am an avid fisherman and I actually got tired of catching so many fish :). The house was very accommodating, clean and cozy. I highly recommend this property, in fact, I have 5 different friends looking into booking their next vacation here.

Owner's Response: I actually got tired of catching so many fish?....That may be the best line I have every heard about a Lake House Blue fishing trip. We have had a lot of fishermen and fisherwomen over the years, but I never heard of this before, and I am so gratefull they feel this way. We really don't have much to do with the catching of fish and crabs but we think having a comfortable home out where the fish are is as good as it gets for people who love to fish....We hope to see you back soon and bring your firends with you. We would love to show them our idea of what makes a good fishing spot....Their is no reason why catching fish has to be uncomfortable when you can stay at Lake House Blue....Thank you for your great review..

The area serves as a hub for day trips to nearby shopping, recreation and tourism. Located within an hour's drive are Ravine State Gardens in Palatka; Deland, with Blue Springs and DeLeon Springs (the real Fountain of Youth); the Ocala National Forrest with Juniper, Salt and World Famous Silver Springs; Daytona with its shopping, Daytona International Speedway & Museum and famous beaches; Flagler County, Marineland; and the historic city of St. Augustine. Within two hour's drive are Jacksonville, Orlando, Walt Disney World Resort, Universal and MGM, Sea World, Kennedy Space Center, and Mount Dora for the antique lovers. All this from the Bass Capital of Florida.

Other Activities: Swimming 1 mile away at Lake Stella with picnic area and restrooms

Golf: The Live Oak golf course is a local venue, and fancy it's not. But the locals like the idea of having their own private setting. There is also a municipal course in Palatka that is only about 30 miles away. Now, if you are a serious golfer there is St. Augustine, Daytona and Orlando that can fill any dream you might have.
