This beautiful home has upscale amenities inside (granite & stainless steel) with outdoor decks all around the house. There are two screened porches with rocking chairs, and one hammock. About Dean Ellis

Our family has used this lake house as our get away from it all escape from reality. We have been pressured for many years to rent this property so everyone can get to enjoy one of Florida's most hidden and unusual secrets. Henry David Thoreau said ' A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive features' A lake with a house in the middle of it is nature as it's best. We are very sorry we can't share our Lake House Blue with Mr. Thoreau, but we are sure he would love it....

Dean Ellis purchased this house in 1978

Why Dean Ellis chose North Central Florida

We bought this lake house because we wanted to get back to the old Florida of days gone by. This area has changed very little compare to other parts of Florida. Just 25 miles North in Palatka was as far south people came around the turn of the 20th century. The great people of that era names like President Grant, Mrs. Lincoln, wanted to see the wild Florida and all it's natural wonders. Palatka had as many 100 Paddle Wheel boats tied up at the city docks. Years later Babe Ruth came a couple of years and taught a base ball school. Highway 17 is the original highway to Florida as well as US1 on the East coast. These are the things that I saw when my parents brought me thru this area in the 1950's. It made a lasting impression on me and I get to enjoy this area today just like I was a kid again...

What makes this house unique

This is a one of a kind home with class, modern features, and a view from every window and door. Wildlife is all around and likes to show off for our guest. Bald Eagles,Osprey's, Ducks,Blue Heron's,White Egret's, even an occasional Manatee. This is just the beginning because every month has a different supply of nature's best. Come experience the wonders of nature at it best....

Best Birthday Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The privacy, unique decorations, amazing views & the most personal touches I have ever seen in a rental home. My husband booked as a birthday present for me. We arrived to a personalized card & cake with candle in the fridge. I felt so special. This home is spacious with an open floor plan & room for everyone. The decorations were so unique & interesting I caught myself several times just gazing. The master bathroom had an amazing rain shower. The stained glass throughout is eye catching & adds unique color. The dining room has a “treasure” themed table which is very sturdy & fun to look at while playing one of the many board games. The living room ceiling was designed to replicate a boat shape with lighting to compliment the design. Stone hearth with wood burning fireplace & large updated flat screen TV. Kitchen is well stocked with seasonings, sauces, keurig machine, filtered drinking water, dishwasher with detergent, plenty of sponges, soap, etc… A quick trip to Winn-Dixie (which is right at the main road) & you can be self-sufficient. If you do choose to leave, stop by the 3 Bananas by the public boat dock. It has very unique decorations, friendly people & very good food. We loved the bourbon hot wings! There are two kayaks available with life jackets for scenic natural shoreline exploration. We saw a manatee & an alligator. We even threw the crab traps in along the dock. The best part of this house is the simple fact that there is a 360 water view. Two screened porches offer rocking chairs, a hammock, glider & gas grill. The deck goes completely around the home allowing you to get that perfect cast while staying in the shade. There is lighting around the exterior & down the deck that I would recommend turning off at night since they attract bugs. We enjoy catch and release fishing, however the fish weren’t interested in our lures, worms, crickets, chicken livers or stink bait. We picked up some limited supplies from Brown's marina. The afternoon storms were a lot of fun to watch from the screened porch. I would definitely stay here again. The owners have fantastic communication. It is very easy to find off the main road, nice community road and grassy lot. A lot of the restaurants & businesses close at 8pm so plan accordingly. This area has a very local feel where time slows down, perfect for vacation. This home is made to leave your worries at the car & enter a relaxing paradise. (Fly lures on bathroom ceiling wallpaper, priceless)

Lake House Blue is an ideal location to relax and enjoy views from literary every room!

  • 5 of 5

Visiting sunny Florida from Colorado, we couldn't have picked a better location! The views were amazing and despite daily rain, we found plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors. Everything we needed was available for our use maximizing our time at the lake. We did test out a kayak and enjoyed exploring the waters nearby. Wildlife experiences are everywhere which included continuously jumping fish, many birds, bunnies and an occasional gator and manatee. July isn't the best time of year for fishing but Captain Mike Huff did a half day fishing trip and we snagged 30+ Crappie. He picked us up right at the house, can't get anymore convenient than that! We would definitely recommend Lake House Blue and hope to return for a longer visit! Communication regarding our trip was received in advance and included all details necessary to start our vacation without any challenges.

Thanks for your hospitality!

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review....Our family just loves it when we talk about how far some of our guest come to vacation at LHB. We have had guest from as far away as Alaska, California, Utah, Texas and now Colorado..That makes us so very proud and grateful that they would come so far. Florida has a great reputation for visitors and we hope we are a positive effect on that reputation....Their are two things we know for sure, we love nature and our guest do too......Come back soon....

Wonderful, relaxing week!

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly restful week at Lake House Blue. We took the boat with us but caught lots of bream and some bass right off the dock. The sunrises are meant to be enjoyed while having coffee and are absolutely gorgeous!

Owner's Response: Thank you a great review. We see it didn't take you guys long to pick up on the Coffee Sunrise....It is always a favorite time of day for a lot of our guest because it is also the time of day the wildlife are so active. I guess it is back to the EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM theory. But for the LATE sleepers the Master Bedroom South porch is a close second with a good cocktail in hand at sundown.....Glad you caught Fish and you are right, off the dock works real well.....

Owner's Response: Thank you a great review..... We really don';t like surprises when it comes to vacationing especially if they are bad. We rented a house in the Bahamas a few years back that was waterfront. After we were there a few days a couple came over to say we were in their unit. We were very surprised to hear their actually were two property's the owner was renting one on the ocean, and one behind the house we were in. We started to look into the matter and realized the owner had rented this family the back house with a picture of the house we were in. The disappointment they suffered was completely unnecessary and made the owner out to be a fraud. We never did business with them again and told as many friends as we could to avoid this rental because of this situation. We felt very sorry for these guest because they had come along way for this vacation. We think it is imperative that owners don't fudge on the facts when it comes to their rental.....It can be heart breaking and can ruin a well thought out vacation.....
