We love the outdoors and love to be in it. We fell in love with the drybed Cedar forest on this property and then viewed the perfect natural place to build the log home. With the assistance of a local builder and dear friends we spent years of weekends finishing the house for occupancy with plans to move North. Much to our delight we had a grandson join the family then another, then another and we just can't leave the delightful little ones yet in Southern MI. MI is the state we both grew up and and after traveling to what we thought were our dream states realized we have the best right here. Someday ahead we hope to enjoy the Log Home fulltime but for now are willing to share our dream.
Joanne purchased this house in 1999
We built it because of the many outdoor activities in this area. We love the snow, snow ski, snowshoe, hike and snowmobil, and the same love in the Summer with so many lakes and outdoor activities or just a walk in the great fresh air.The view from the front porch with total Fall color change or the morning sunrise with a cup of coffee and evening happy hour.
We have many lovely neighbors that live there yearround and others that are weekenders like us. With all of us having acreage and busy lifestyles we enjoy our privacy in a friendly manner. Sitting in what I call our fairy forrest I love the tranquility of listening to and watching the rushing river on a hot day. We snowshoe in the woods on the most blistering winter days totally protected from the winds. Lake Louise is minutes away in the Summer with a wonderful park public access and beach area that is usually not crowded. Lake Charlevoix is 5 minutes away. Private side deck for sunbathing. Plenty of room to throw a ball. The mushroom hunting is great. Boyne City has street music & events ever Friday during the Summer months.
We arrived late at night and the direction provided put us right at the front door. If you are flying in you may want to ask for a street address before going so you can provided it to the airline if they loose your baggage (lesson learned) .
The property is well kept and was very clean. All of the things that were in the properties description were in the cabin. We only used the cooking area of the kitchen a couple of times due to having so many good choices for dining out. Boyne City is only a few minutes away with a large selection of place to eat and relax. We visited both tap rooms and found them very nice with good food too. Many of the people in for the wedding were staying ant the Boyne Mountain Resort and after seeing their rooms I was very pleased to have selected to stay at the cabin. If we wanted to swim there are several area lakes near by that we could have visited. If you enjoy golf there are many good courses in the vicinity.
We had gone up to the North Country for a wedding. Arriving early for the wedding we were able to invite my siblings and their families to the cabin for an afternoon get together. The cabin's large dining and sitting area provided plenty of room for all to enjoy. The younger set also took advantage of the air hockey table and dart board in the lower living area.
The stream at the back of the property is very nice but you will want to be careful as you walk in the woods due to some poison ivy in the area. We were also entertained by watching 2 turkey hens walk through the property with their brood of about 15 chicks.
I will look forward to returning to the area again in the near future and hope that the property will be available again.
Any time I had a question for the owners I received prompt and detailed replies. It was a pleasure dealing with them!
We rented this cabin for a long ski weekend in January. The home is 5 minutes from Boyne, and perfect for families. The home is extensively equipped with all the comforts of home: a fully stocked kitchen, ample bedding, a full supply of firewood, entertainment center, games, and more! We had an incredible time in a beautiful setting. The owners were incredibly helpful and forthcoming with information, and prompt in responding to any questions. They made us feel very welcome in their property!
Beautiful dry cedar forest abutting the Boyne River along 220 ft of frontage for peaceful easy walking. Open in front field viewing from front porch to rolling Hills across the road.
