Charlottesville is a wonderful city which I call home and the Bungalow is ideally located, and easy walk to the city's downtown, shops, restaurants and farmer's market. I love the Belmont neighborhood with many beautiful homes and walk-able to just about everywhere in the city, UVA is approximately 2 miles away.
On a quiet residential street, but only minutes by foot to just about everything in the city: restaurants, theatre, shops, trails, historic monuments, UVA and sporting arenas are close by. Monticello Trail that leads you to Monticello is just a five minute drive. Carter's Mountain which is adjacent to Monticello is clearly visible from the front porch of the Bungalow which offers lovely sunrises. You get the best of both worlds, close to the city so you don't even need a car, but you have the benefit of staying on quiet residential street without all the traffic and noise. Large front porch elevated off the street is ideal for relaxing, watching the sunrise and enjoying your morning coffee!
The house is just the right size for a couple spending a weekend exploring Charlottesville and the countryside. Four miles to Monticello, easy walk to downtown. Nice neighborhood. Seven restaurants within a five minute walk. Certainly would come back.
The bungalow has so much charm. It has all the amenities needed for a weekend stay. Loved that coffee/tea was provided along with water and a few healthy snacks.
Bed was ultra comfortable with high end linens.
Perfect locale to everything we did- wine tasting, breweries, hiking, and walking distance to downtown. MAS was our favorite Tapas restaurant, by far, and it was awesome that it was in walking distance to the bungalow.
Would definitely recommend this gem to anyone looking for a charlottesville getaway.
Great little bungalow located in a great residential neighborhood. Within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Nicely furnished, great front porch to hang out on, and off street parking. Will definitely again in the future!
Met my sister at the cottage for a girls getaway. The cottage was just as described, perfect. Close enough to local attractions that we walked almost everywhere. We took a day and went antiquing in Ruckersville, wish we would have had more time. The next time we plan a visit we will be sure to reserve the cottage.
We ventured down to Charlottesville to attend a wedding and chose to stay at the bungalow over a hotel. So glad we decided to do that. My husband and I have an 18 month old so we needed more space and ideally a separate bedroom for him-exactly what we got from the charming bungalow. It's attached to the owners house, but we never heard the owner and had complete privacy. The space was extremely clean and comfortable. We could walk to the end of the street for coffee (though there is a kureg with coffee at the house) or some yummy eats. We also had no issue walking to the mall or other nearby restaurants. There is no kitchen but as there are so many yummy restaurants nearby that wasn't an issue, and the microwave and mini fridge were perfect for leftovers. The bathroom was fresh and bright, as was the rest of the cottage-nice to have that space over a cramped hotel room! My son made use of the yard and enjoyed running around. Great spot, and accommodating owner!
We celebrated our 35th anniversary at this lovely bungalow. As a former travel industry member I fully appreciate the attention to detail that is the hallmark of hospitality. From the immaculate condition of this charming place, the great location in Belmont, fresh flowers everywhere, and an attentive owner, I highly recommend the Boxwood Bungalow for your next visit to C'ville.
The Boxwood Bungalow is located within a 10 minute walk to the downtown historic mall and the grounds/Rotunda at UVA. A very short walk up the street are three of the city's best restaurants: Tavola, The Local & MAS. A short drive to local wineries: Keswick Vineyards, Jefferson Vineyards, Glass House Winery, Blenheim, Trumph and others. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is within 5 miles of the Bungalow. Some of central virginias best golf courses are within 15 minute drive: Spring Creek, Glenmore, Old Trail, Birdwood, Stoney Creek.
