Our Orchard House Stay was Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We reserved the Orchard House for 6 nights, 7 days for a family getaway - six adults, 4 children (ages 4 to 9) and were so thrilled with the amount of space and the size of the yard! It was absolute heaven for our grandkids as they had so much room outside to play outdoor games, hide & seek, etc. They really enjoyed watching the deer every evening and after a hard day at play, sleeping VERY well at night.

During our stay, we would see deer every evening, sometimes in the morning as well. We had as many as 16 deer (bucks, does and a fawn) in the front yard at one time. During our last evening, apparently the chief buck decided to make an appearance..... the first white-tailed buck I've ever seen that was as large as he was! They were always very entertaining!

We highly recommend renting a boat if you don't have one with you. We cruised Flathead Lake from end-to-end, checking Bigfork out during our last full day (cruised up to it instead of driving). We also visited Wild Horse Island and tubed on the lake almost every day!

We did our grocery shopping at the Safeway store in Polson, of which there is also a Walgreens in the same parking lot. If you're a Starbucks fan, you'll find a location inside of Safeway. The service is a bit slow, so allow some extra time to get your order filled.

Back to the house... as the details indicate, there are two fully stocked kitchens. This was a great option for a group as large as ours. We utilized both refrigerators and did prep work in the downstairs kitchen while others were in the main floor kitchen cooking. We organized both refrigerators.... main floor for everyday food items, lower floor for less often needed items.

The bedrooms are all sized perfectly and well furnished. The beds are very comfortable, with everyone getting a good night's rest each night.

Everything was just absolutely perfect!

As a side note, be sure to check with the property manager to see if anyone will be visiting the property during your stay so you'll know to expect them. Several friends/family members of the owner's family came onto the property and into the large cherry orchard, a visit we weren't aware was going to be made. We were a bit concerned as our grandchildren were outside playing with people around that we had no idea who they were until I greeted them. And since we were responsible for the property during our stay, we were concerned about liability issues. All was smoothed over.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review! It sounds like you had a wonderful week and a lot of fun on the water! I love that you took the boat all the way to Big Fork and went tubing every day! It warms my heart to think of all those kids sleeping so well because of all of their time in the good old Montana outdoors. Thank you for leaving those extra paper products for the next guest. Thank you again for sharing your concerns about the unexpected visitors to the orchard. We will for surely give future tenants a heads up when extended family is visiting Finley Point. We hope to see you again! Happy Summer!

We had a fabulous stay at the Orchard House.

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous property. Deer and wild turkeys roamed through the orchards. The wrap around porch was a lovely respite after a day of rafting, kayaking, and hiking. The kitchens were large and well stocked with dishes and pots and pans.

The only difficulty we had was that we filled the garbage can long before trash pick up day. Since garbage cannot be left outside unless in a locked container, a second garbage can would have been a big help.

I highly recommend this house to any family looking for a relaxing getaway.

Gorgeous and relaxing with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely time at the beautiful orchard house! The kids rode their bikes and played in the orchard while the grownups hung out and relaxed on the deck while enjoying the stunning views of the lake. The house was impeccable and the kitchen fully stocked. Even the drive out to the house is picturesque, with farm stands selling cherries and pies along the way. We tore ourselves away from our idyllic spot only to head into Poulson for a few lake cruises. It was a perfect family getaway!

Amazing place to spend a week.

  • 5 of 5

It's been a longtime family dream. To rent a house, pack up everything we need, enjoy some sun and relaxation with every amenity at our fingertips. The dream was not only to make this getaway happen but, to enjoy it with friends. A few years ago, hubby and I started scheming in investigating and planning just such a trip. We found it!

Flathead Lake is gorgeous. Polson sits at the southern end of the lake and we found The Orchard House a short 8-mile jog North of Polson on Finley Point. The house sits on a honest-to-goodness Flathead Cherry Orchard. It sleeps up to 15 people, has 2 fully stocked kitchens, towels and linens are provided. All we needed to bring was our clothes, food and beach stuff.

So why is this the dream? My kids would probably say, "Duh, mom. Vacation is fun!" And they'd be right. I mean, it's good to shake things up and step out of your day-to-day life. Plus I think that my kids grow and change so much after every trip we take. Their little bodies and minds expand as they experience new places and new adventures. And the Flathead region is stunning.

The house is well appointed with comfortable but very up to date furnishings. White leather couches, super comfy beds, the whole property is clean and lovely. With that huge expanse of windows and a 360 degree wrap-around porch, we enjoyed lounging and dining outside as well as inside.

The property itself is wonderful. So many cherry trees! I can only imagine what it is like in the Spring. Dreamy.

The boat slip is very close by, about 1/4 mile - a nice walk. And as a mom to young kids I prefer to not actually be on the water. I was able to let the kids run around with peace of mind. That to me is golden.

I will be coming back for sure!

Notes:
Swimming and boating is just 1/4 mile away at Finley Point State Park. The road to the park is not heavily traveled and you will often cross paths with other walkers, joggers, bikers and beach goers. Boats can be launched from the Finley Point State Park from June 15 on. The shoreline is very shallow at this location and the lake does not reach 'full pond' until mid June. Boats can be launched for day use for $5.00 per vehicle per day or boat slips can be rented for $5.00 per night. For reservations for a boat slip, go to campmt.com or call 1-855-922-6768.
