Overview

New Mexico House Rental Photos and Description

Guesthouse, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

You'll wake up to the beauty of the sun rising over Taos Mountain and go to sleep under a canopy of stars. No traffic noises will disturb you in this pastoral setting, but you might hear coyotes singing at night, or even catch sight of one running through the fields in the early morning light. Our guesthouse is only about a mile from the picturesque village of Arroyo Seco, where you can shop, or enjoy a latte or an ice cream at The Cow, or grab some groceries at Sol Foods. It's 10 miles from the excitement of Taos Ski Valley and eight miles from the galleries, restaurants, Taos Pueblo, and other amenities of Taos. But you'll be in your own peaceful world when you're here.

The spacious one bedroom casita is comfortably furnished, with everything you'll need to feel at home. You'll relish the Southwestern feeling of this adobe house with its viga and latilla ceilings, tile floors and plastered walls. Radiant heat in the floor keep bare feet toasty even in the winter. The owners are right next door to welcome you when you arrive, and will be happy to give you some 'insider' tips about the area to make your vacation even more memorable.

About David Woodall

My wife Kathleen and I have lived here in Arroyo Seco for thirty five years. I have built many houses in the area during my career as a contractor. Kathleen has taught a generation of school kids. We raised our own kids here and have a lot of family in the area. We wouldn't live anywhere else because we love the mountains, the skies, the river and the wide open spaces of Northern New Mexico. Now that I am retired I am pursuing a second career as a wildlife and landscape photographer.

David Woodall purchased this house in 1999

What makes this house unique

The mountains and rivers of Northern New Mexico are right outside your door to enjoy, whether you prefer the excitement of the ski slopes or the tranquility of the back country during the winter. In the summer you can raft down Class IV rapids on the Rio Grande, hike the high mountains, fish the streams, take a ride in a hot air balloon over the gorge. Art lovers will delight in the variety of creativity here. And then there is always Taos Pueblo to enjoy.

Great place to stay for Taos Ski Valley

  • 5 of 5

This casita was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the Arroyo Seco area was peaceful and beautiful as well as extremely close to Taos Ski Valley. David, the owner, was also extremely nice. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and stay here again!

Great!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect location for us. It is only minutes from Arroro Seco. It is also within walking distance. About 8/10 of a mile. We skied at Taos Ski Valley and it was nice to come "home" after that. The casita is very clean and comfortable and reasonably priced even for Presidents Day weekend. We will stay here again when we come to visit our son!

PERFECT!!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED staying here; it was indeed perfect. The photos don't quite do it justice - it was even better than we expected! We stayed a full week in this clean and very comfortable casita which lacked absolutely nothing. Very spacious and quiet. The setting was lovely and a nice walk to Arroyo Seco, and easy access to Taos, the Ski Valley, Rio Grande, and other locations in Northern New Mexico. Although the owner lives just across the courtyard, we were completely private. David was most gracious and went out of his way a few times to help us. We will definitely be coming back.

Lovely place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 2 daughters (ages 2 and 1 month) stayed at David's casita for 3 days/nights. It was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable stay. The casita is beautiful - very cozy and clean and set on a beautiful piece of property. I would definitely recommend staying here. We hope to be back again soon.

Stay in Arroyo Seco

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Arroyo Seco. Our casita was close enough to the little village of Arroyo Seco to walk the country road to town for a bite to eat, to do a little shopping or have ice creme at the Taos Cow. The owner was friendly and helpful when we asked about activities we might indulge in around Taos. The atmosphere when at the casita was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed preparing our meals in the kitchen and we would stay there again if visiting Arroyo Seco.
