About the property

Guesthouse, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

You'll wake up to the beauty of the sun rising over Taos Mountain and go to sleep under a canopy of stars. No traffic noises will disturb you in this pastoral setting, but you might hear coyotes singing at night, or even catch sight of one running through the fields in the early morning light. Our guesthouse is only about a mile from the picturesque village of Arroyo Seco, where you can shop, or enjoy a latte or an ice cream at The Cow, or grab some groceries at Sol Foods. It's 10 miles from the excitement of Taos Ski Valley and eight miles from the galleries, restaurants, Taos Pueblo, and other amenities of Taos. But you'll be in your own peaceful world when you're here.

The spacious one bedroom casita is comfortably furnished, with everything you'll need to feel at home. You'll relish the Southwestern feeling of this adobe house with its viga and latilla ceilings, tile floors and plastered walls. Radiant heat in the floor keep bare feet toasty even in the winter. The owners are right next door to welcome you when you arrive, and will be happy to give you some 'insider' tips about the area to make your vacation even more memorable.

About David Woodall

My wife Kathleen and I have lived here in Arroyo Seco for thirty five years. I have built many houses in the area during my career as a contractor. Kathleen has taught a generation of school kids. We raised our own kids here and have a lot of family in the area. We wouldn't live anywhere else because we love the mountains, the skies, the river and the wide open spaces of Northern New Mexico. Now that I am retired I am pursuing a second career as a wildlife and landscape photographer.

David Woodall purchased this house in 1999

What makes this house unique

The mountains and rivers of Northern New Mexico are right outside your door to enjoy, whether you prefer the excitement of the ski slopes or the tranquility of the back country during the winter. In the summer you can raft down Class IV rapids on the Rio Grande, hike the high mountains, fish the streams, take a ride in a hot air balloon over the gorge. Art lovers will delight in the variety of creativity here. And then there is always Taos Pueblo to enjoy.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

It was the perfect place for my son and I to enjoy a long weekend skiing! Seco has some great restaurants (Aceq, Sabrosa, Taos Cow, and others) and a nice grocery store all within a mile or so of the casita. We spent 4 nights and never needed to venture into Taos for dinner. David was a great host and we would definitely stay with him again!

Fantastic Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The casita was much larger than we expected and perfect for our last minute long weekend. It was clean and well appointed. We loved the quiet and the morning views. Booking was easy and David is a wonderful host. Arroyo Seco is a picturesque town and great home base, convenient to town and the mountain. Taos Cow is good for breakfast and Aceq does a nice farm-to-table evening meal. We will certainly be back.

Lovely setting, big views, well-crafted dwelling and helpful owner

  • 5 of 5

What more could we ask for? We were so pleased to be in the Arroyo Seco area for a week of summer mountain hiking and exploring the Taos area. The casita was perfect for our needs. Walking distance to cafe and groceries.

Comfortable, well-crafted and well cared for property. Peaceful in all respects. The Taos Cow cafe deserves the kudos as other reviewers have noted. We hope to be back.

Great place to stay for Taos Ski Valley

  • 5 of 5

This casita was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the Arroyo Seco area was peaceful and beautiful as well as extremely close to Taos Ski Valley. David, the owner, was also extremely nice. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and stay here again!

Great!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect location for us. It is only minutes from Arroro Seco. It is also within walking distance. About 8/10 of a mile. We skied at Taos Ski Valley and it was nice to come "home" after that. The casita is very clean and comfortable and reasonably priced even for Presidents Day weekend. We will stay here again when we come to visit our son!
