The villa, built on ancient Roman walls, is an historical landmark, and its construction marks an important period in the nineteenth century. It was built by the great German Baron Maximilian Von Gunderrode and was originally named “Villa Nardi.” At the end of the 1800s, while sailing the Mediterranean, the baron arrived in Naples and fell in love with the coastline, ultimately choosing this site to build his summer residence. In 1896, the villa was re-named “La Terrazza.” The great Florentine builder, Romanelli, reconstructed the entire villa, making it larger and one floor higher. Fashioning it in the Italian Liberty-style, he incorporated stuccoes, images of angels, flowers, fruits, marble columns and staircases. Over the years Villa La Terrazza was coined “the house of love” for its hospitality and spellbinding charm.
Just a three-minute walk to Sorrento’s Piazza Tasso, and directly above the main port to Capri, Ischia, and Naples, the grounds of Villa La Terrazza offer both unparalled tranquility and a front row seat to the best that the Amalfi Coast region can offer.
Villa La Terrazza's interiors are decorated in a Mediterranean-style with soft pastels, original paintings and antique furniture. Marble mosaics, dating back to the 1800s, are inlaid across the floors. Each room has access to the private terrace, with swimming pool, adorned with sofas and marble benches. Cleaning service, with linens and towels, is included. Private parking on the property is also provided. Room service, car rentals, tours, boat and day excursions, and many other offerings are available to guests to augment their experience at Villa La Terrazza.
Villa La Terrazza is centrally located in the heart of Sorrento, and is steps away from Piazza Tasso (the main square of Sorrento), shops and cafes. The Circumvesuviana train station, with direct access to Pompei, Ercolano and Naples, is a five-minute walk from the villa.
Villa La Terrazza is available for rent year round. The terrace is also available for private events and wedding parties. Catering, bar services, music, tents and amenities are available upon request.

A magic atmosphere in the heart of Sorrento, overlooking the coast, with a choose of lovely suites.
My spouse and I , both over 60, wanted a peaceful sojourn in a beautiful place. That is exactly what we got at Villa Terrazza in Sorrento, where we stayed for two weeks. The villa's terrace overlooks the Napoli bay, and we spent time each day just looking at the sea, the harbour and the ferries departing and returning from Capri. Sorrento is a very nice city to explore, neither too big or too small, and the villa is at a walking distance from everything (train station, grocery store, restaurants, museums, shops, etc.). We visited Pompei, Herculanum and Napoli by train, and went to Capri on the villa owner's private boat, touring the island at at an leisurely pace. The apartment we rented faced the courtyard and was very quiet at night. Though small, it was very comfortable and furnished with taste. We found everything we needed in the kitchen in order to cook and eat on the premises, which we very often did. The owner, Andrea, and the manager, Valentina, tended promptly to our needs and went to great pains to make our stay most pleasant and memorable. In short, our experience couldn't have been better!
Enjoy the fantastic town of Sorrento!
