Perched high on a hill and nestled amongst the cottages on the village side of Bay Point, this three-bedroom, three baths cottage has great views of Fort Popham located on the mouth of the Kennebec River and the open ocean. Enjoy watching several working lobster boats in the waters just in front of this charming cottage. You can also enjoy outstanding sunsets from two enclosed sitting areas as well as a large open deck. While in Bath visit Maine Maritime Museum . . . there are several stores, wonderful shops and restaurants in Bath. Glad you loved the home. Sorry for the tattered towels! We have inspected all our linens and repalced any items showing wear. Just to be sure, anything even slightly in question got an early retirement!
Thanks for your comments!

My husband and I rented this home with our two daughters, ages 3.5 and 14 months, and my aunt and uncle. From the stand point of a mother of two young children this home could not have been more perfect. I think it was actually more baby-proofed than my own home! There were baby gates, covers on the electrical sockets, and kid gear galore (plates, cups, utensils, toys, games, and a pack'n'play to name just a few). The layout was ideal for our vacation. When the kids were playing on the main floor we could see them from just about anywhere. My aunt and uncle took the upstairs master and said it was a magical, restful retreat (maybe because the kids were downstairs?) and the bathroom was their favorite part. There was even a pocket door that enabled us to shut out the early morning noise from reaching upstairs. The queen bedroom was tucked away nicely for the baby's midday naps and earlier bedtime. My favorite was the dining/sunroom where we shared many memorable meals with family and played, all while enjoying the amazing views. There are amazing views from every room and huge windows that let in the breezes. The deck is great to relax on and the kitchen was well set up for cooking meals. Oh, and I can't forget the THREE bathrooms! That sure made getting ready to go out easy.
We had a great time!
Very well maintained and clean cottage. The second floor porch is the perfect spot for morning coffee, to enjoy a good book or take a nap. The breeze off the water was refreshing with all of the heat this week. Close to all our favorite spots: Popham beach, Anna's Waterfront Restaurant, Bath Sweet Shoppe and the Mustard Seed Bookstore.
This home has so much going for it and yet falls far short of a five out of five. Poor effort to make a visitors stay comfortable and easy is what holds her back. Amazing views, charming decor, comfortable beds are all to be found in the home. The master bedroom was amazing with it's own porch and view of the water! It also had one of the most interesting bathrooms I've seen. It's connected to the bedroom via a tunnel of sorts. We called it the Hobbit hole. But again this only added to the charm but might be a problem for someone with back issues. Some of the curtains and furnishings are starting to show wear but this was easy to overlook when you had amazing view beyond them.
So what holds the home back from five stars for me and perhaps even lower for some of the other guests? The home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and sleeps 6 guests. We had five people with us for our visit and we found three towels and three wash cloths in the entire home! This wouldn't be a problem if the listing advised of this but it says linens provided. We found used soap in one of the showers... yuk and after a long day on the road and a rather late check in of 4 pm we found we all got to make the beds throughout the home. Not a great way to start your week. Clean bedding was provided but not installed. Parking was also very tight. Finally, trash is to be collected and dropped off at a collection center that's only open on certain days and certain hours. This can make departing for home early or on a day they're closed very difficult.
All in all we had a great trip. Just wish the owners would spend another twenty dollars on towels and pay someone to make the beds and remove the trash. If they would this home would be a five out of five any day of the week.
Like all previous reviewers, we loved this place. There's not much to add, but I'll mention a few things: Super comfortable bed, and a very well appointed kitchen. Vacation rentals usually have a sorry array of pots, pans and utensils; we were happy to find a kitchen fully stocked with quality cookware, sharp knives, and plenty of plates and glasses. The well tended flower garden was also a nice touch.
I particularly enjoyed an early cup of coffee on the porch looking across the river with no sound except the seabirds. What a relaxing vacation.
This cottage is exactly as described - comfortable and roomy with lots of windows sporting beautiful views of the ocean. Much of the time that we were in the cottage we were sitting in the front room overlooking the ocean and enjoying the numerous changes it goes through each day with the tides, weather and wildlife. It's simply mesmerizing. I did at times wish there was a dock out front, but as described, the private beach is a quick walk away and it's quiet and lovely. Reid State park is very close also - another beautiful spot. You really don't have to leave the area, but we did a few day trips - visited Popham Beach (more impressive than you realize from looking at it across the river), Wolf's Neck State Park and Camden State Park not to mention Bath, Freeport and other small towns. There wasn't time to do it all - we hope to be back.
Online and approaching appears a fantastic vacation cottage, but upon entering one realizes it is truly a lovely decorated and totally comfortable home. The owners paid attention to detail and certainly did not hesitate to think of the comfort of their renters. We always relaxed on either of the two perfect porches. Georgetown's seemingly remote location is a large part of its attraction as the area offers beautiful views, picturesque sunsets, a nearby private beach - all to be enjoyed in extreme quiet. The drive from the highway to Georgetown has to be executed cautiously but is not without its merit. We saw herds of as well as individual deer on every trip. Georgetown is a paradise for anyone who loves being on, in, or near beautiful bodies of water. It is certainly a kayaker's dream. The girls, ages four and six, loved searching for sea glass at the private beach and for sand dollars at Popham Beach (forty minutes away but well worth the time). Should one tire of the sand and surf, there are boat tours, shopping, and great restaurants in nearby Bath and Brunswick. Two of our favorites were Five Islands Lobster Company and the Sea Dogs Brewery (totally acceptable restaurant for children). We all loved every minute we spent at the beach home as well as in and near Georgetown! We're looking forward to a return stay.
