About Eileen

My husband Michael has just retired after owning his own landscape business in the Chicago suburbs and I am the perennial 'mult-tasker' having worked as an actor in Chicago, helping with the landscape business, being a lifestyle and job coach and running our vacation home business.

Eileen purchased this house in 2003

Why Eileen chose Michigan

Our family of 5 had been vacationing in northern Michigan since 1985 and longed to have a place of our own. In the summer of 2003, we found a lovely road off the highway that have wonderful beaches and wasn't 'touristy'. We looked at a couple of properties but they didn't fit our budget. Then that fall, I found a listing online and we decided to drive up (300 miles) and couldn't believe how perfect it was for us. The only way we could afford buying it was to rent it out and as they say, the rest is history!

What makes this house unique

The greatest benefit to staying at our home called 'Heaven' is because that's the feeling many people get whenever visiting! Because the property is wider rather than deep, the privacy and view from the home is amazing. It offers feelings of tranquility and is a true respite from the business of life. (It's a nice home too!)

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an amazing time at this home on the lake. This place is perfect for families with children of all ages. The kids loved playing on the sandy beach and the creek running into the lake was perfect! The deck overlooking the lake not only provides great views but also allows you to keep an eye on the kids from far away. Overall, the house and location are very spacious (and private) which provides plenty of room to enjoy all types of activities and amazing lake/sunset views.

Romantic Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a spectacular romantic getaway! We came here after our wedding and could have asked for a better place. The private secluded location on Lake michigan was wonderful, peaceful and romantic. The views were amazing along with the sunsets while relaxing in the hot tub. We came up here for the fall colors aswell and were not disappointed! We took a long ride up the cost and the colrs were amazing! We would recomnd this place to Midwest Living magizine all the quant towns along the lake were ideal for shopping and the food at the resturansts was excellent. I highly recomend staying here! We will definetly be back!!

Relaxing in Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our vacation in Heaven! Very nice home and excellent location. We loved the deck over the lake. We drank our morning coffee there and our evening beverages!

The lake. Is beautiful as well as all the wild life. We saw deer, Eagles, loons, a river otter, rabbits and chipmunks :)

We loved watching the freighters go by as well as the sailboats!

We certainally will return!

Wonderful Weekend Lake Trip

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at this wonderful lakefront beachfront property over Memorial Day weekend. By far the best part of this place is the view. My best memory of the trip was sitting in the hot tub and watching the sun set over the lake followed by star gazing.

The place was clean and well maintained. The photos were accurate, except for the TV which they updated to a nice flat screen. The beach was easily accessible and having the hot tub was a welcome contrast to the lake's cold water. One minor grips is that the furniture could be updated, but overall it was in good condition and the kitchen was well equip. One delightful aspect was how close the lake house was to a good grocery store, which saved us as we forgot to bring a few things.

Overall this is a great lake house and would recommend it.

Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

The house was wonderful! Very spacious, clean and you can see the lake from the master bedroom, sun room, kitchen and living room. We enjoyed watching the sunset while relaxing in the hot tub. The weather was absolutely perfect for our stay. The stairs down to the beach may look a little intimating, but are really not a problem. We walked up and down the shoreline wading in the water even though it was a little cool. Manistee is a nice area and there is a new grocery store close to the house. It was nice to take a breath, relax and experience the simple beauty of Heaven.

Heaven

  • 5 of 5

This house was truly a little bit of heaven! The house was beautiful, clean, and had every thing that we needed. The view of the lake was breath-taking! We spent many happy hours on the beach enjoying the water, sitting on the the deck and reading, and soaking in the hot tub. It was fun for the whole family too. We have six children ranging in age from young adult to eight and all of them enjoyed this house. It was so perfect -- we could get up in the morning and have our coffee on the deck, take a long morning walk, then spend the day on the beach, and finally relax in the hot tub in the evening watching the sun set. Usually on vacation we have to pack up the car every day, prepare meals to take, and drive somewhere, then drag all of our stuff down to the beach or where ever we were going. At this beautiful house none of this was necessary; everything was there and we didn't have to leave unless we wanted to. Thus, we had more time to just enjoy and relax, and spend time together.
