Awesome time in this very large cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year renting Cherokee Lodge and it was just as great as last year. We went the week after the wild fire and this area was not affected and Gatlinburg reopened on Friday. This cabin has all the amenities, decorations, warm comfortable feeling and view. If it is bad weather the roads are curvy and steep so do as they suggest and use chains. we loved or visit.

We could not believe how spacious and beautiful the cabin was.

  • 5 of 5

The knotty pine flooring, walls and ceilings appeared brand new and the furnishings and decorations were unbelievably outstanding. I wanted to buy and move into this mansion as my permanent home. I could never have imagined that a mountain cabin looked as beautiful and warm as did Cherokee Lodge. There were 16 of us { all family } and had space for more. We will never forget Cherokee Lodge and look forward to more visits in the future.

Gatlinburg Fires!

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I arrived Sunday afternoon. We arrived 45 minutes earlier but we didn't realize cause of the time change. We couldn't get in the cabin but when I called they walked us right thru the steps and allowed us to stay earlier. That was nice due to our long drive. The drive into the smokys was beautiful but we did notice clouds well we thought were clouds but they were actually smoke clouds. We didn't really give it a though and we just went ahead with our vacation. We needed time to relax and just enjoy nature and each other's company. We only had a few hours of actual downtime before all hell broke on us. We checked in at 3:15 on Sunday and by Monday night we were evacuating cause of fires all around The Cherokee Lodge. We lost power around 6:00pm on Monday and if it's wasn't for that we would have never really noticed the orange glow in front of the big windows in the cabin. My husband kept telling me that can't be fire it just can't be. I'm saying it is fire but we couldn't smell any smoke. And the way the glow was it would go low then get brighter and it looked like it was in a different location when it brighten up again. Can you believe we watched this for a couple of hours!!! While we watched my husband noticed a cabin to our right down a little bit with I guess cell phone lights with there car backed up to there cabin. I think he watched them not wanting to believe they were evacuating cause of the fires. My husband said someone from the rental company will call and let us know especially in a life threatening situation! We stayed watching then all of a sudden we could smell the smoke coming in the cabin thru the windows by the way there not air tight. Then my husband said omg there are flames coming from behind our cabin!!! I got on the phone and called 911, it took awhile for them to answer. When 911 finally answered I could hear all the commotion going on in background and the operator kept asking me to speak up they have a lot going on. I told her the road were on and we see flames and smoke. She said evacuate immediately and good luck and be safe going down the mountain. We never packed up our belongings so fast. We had just gone to food city the night before so we had a fair amount of groceries. We couldn't grab any of that. I left a few things behind trying to scramble in the dark in a strange place running into things. I know when we get home I'll notice what we left. I just feel the rental company should've notified us.

Beautiful home for large family with awesome views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 15 enjoyed this home greatly. We had included seven kids with us and my parents who came also. The game room was a HIT!

We loved the fact that this home was private and secluded on the acreage which made it safe for the kids to run and play. The amenities in the house and the cleanliness was great. The dining table fit our family perfect for our large meals we prepared. The two ovens and two coffee pots came in handy. The views and sunsets from the balcony was spectacular. We loved the fact that every time we traveled this road to get to town we seen beautiful wildlife. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone and we will plan to stay in this home again on our next returning trip to Gatlinburg.

Our stay was October 2016

The house was everything promised! The view and surroundings were wonderful. The house is certainly accommodating for large groups. We had a large family reunion and everyone had a great time from the 6 month old to the senior citizens! We would recommend the "Cherokee Lodge" to anyone. We had a few issues during our stay and one phone call took care of the problems in short order!! If there was anything that I thought could be improved upon it would be possibly replacing or adding to the pots n pans and purchasing more flatware. There is an abundance of dishes but not near enough forks and knives. It would be helpful to instruct people regarding the boxes for the tv's(not a terrible problem just would be helpful).i found the overall cleanliness just slightly lacking but most of our family found it to be ok. Can only imagine how beautiful it would be at Cherokee Lodge in the snow!!
