About Heather

We are an active family who love the outdoors. Our interests include skiing, tennis, traveling, history, college football and spending time with our family.

Heather purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Heather chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We love the NC mountains and have been vacationing here since we were children. We kept coming back to Beech Mountain for skiing in the winter and then again for summer activities. Beech Mountain is truly a four season destination- there's skiing, hiking, golf, tennis, swimming and fishing all within a mile. Travel a few more miles and you'll be at Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, ziplining, whitewater rafting, caving, and Boone. You can do as much as you want or as little as you want. We hope you enjoy the cabin as much as we do.

What makes this cabin unique

Nothing beats the lake view meeting the mountains or the wildlife that come up the driveway to visit. Full Beech Mtn. Club facilities include golf, tennis, fine dining, heated swimming pool, fitness center and youth activities from May to October each year for a nominal guest fee. The home is 1.1 miles from the Ski Beech slopes. Buckeye Recreation Center provides indoor basketball/indoor tennis/fitness (year round) and is 2 miles from the house. Fred's General Store and deli/cafe for necessities is a five minute drive from the house. Nearby is the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Boone,Tweetsie Railroad, Roan Mountain, Watauga Lake.

Beech Mountain does a great job plowing and our cabin is located just off of paved roads, but in the winter months, AWD or 4WD is recommended. Calling card recommended for long distance service.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a relaxing visit. Your cabin looks much nicer than the pictures so we were pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed the restaurants in Banner Elk, the city park, and all the outdoor activities in Linville. Your lakeside mountain cabin was a wonderful base and thank you for your friendly check-ins along the way. We'll be happy to leave a positive review on the VRBO website.

our summer vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property has the ideal location for renters who enjoy tennis, pickleball, swimming, golf, and walking in the woods. A wooded walkway around the lake is behind the house and it is a good place to exercise and meet with friends. The patio(deck) has a beautiful view and with the grill it is ideal for cooking and enjoying meals outdoors. The home is very comfortable and has plenty of rooms for different types of families. The kitchen is well supplied for all of your needs. We had a wonderful vacation and stayed a month. Heather was very helpful and responded immediately to our questions.

Owner's Response: Dear guests, Thank you for posting your review. I am glad you had a pleasurable vacation and enjoyed the location of the cabin. It is a very convenient location for guests who like to be able to walk to activities on the mountain and lake. As you know, the mountain roads are steep and winding, so being able to walk to the Club is very desirable. I hope you visit with us again soon and wish you a good return back home. Best wishes, Heather, Owner

Wonderful stay at Beech Mt, a great escape from the summer heat!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in July 2014 very much. Heather was very attentive and easy to work with. The location was perfect - just a short walk to swimming and other sports at the club, and to canoeing on the pond. It was also convenient to local attractions like Tweetsie Railroad and Grandfather Mountain. The cabin was very clean and nicely furnished, with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious master suite. We would certainly return again - thank you Heather for a wonderful stay!

Beech Mountain Ski Weekend 2015

  • 5 of 5

Our 2 families had a wonderful stay at your cabin for our skiing trip. The double bunk beds were perfect for our teenage boys! The kitchen was well stocked and the cabin was immaculate upon our arrival. We watched the deer come down in the mornings and enjoyed brisks walks along the pond. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

Restoration of our love for Beech Mountain

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3.5 weeks at this beautiful and peaceful Beech Mountain cabin. It was beautifully furnished and reflected accurately the listing photos. Heather was extremely helpful and involved from the pre-booking through the entire rental. She responded promptly to our requests and was proactive in anticipating our needs, in this case, regarding adding additional TV channels since we were staying almost a month and allowing us to extend our visit an additional weekend when the cabin became available. The lake setting was beautiful and exactly as described with wonderful waterfalls/trails which we thoroughly enjoyed. We loved the large porch with the comfy chair cushions and especially the fire pit on those chilly evenings and utilized the gas grill as well. Of course, the fall foliage was amazing and we enjoyed watching the additional colors pop out through the course of our stay. My husband caught trout just about daily, while I took my laps around the lake with our two small dogs on well maintained walking decks. PS: the dogs loved the place and we thank Heather for allowing us to bring them! We love doing puzzles and the very large dining room table allowed us to leave a puzzle in progress at one end, while still having plenty of room for dining. Our stay was everything we had hoped for and we renewed our love for Beech Mountain, as we had owned a vacation home there for 5 years. We would definitely rent the cabin again and wish to thank Heather for her very professional and efficient "property management" skills and for she and hubby's willingness to share their home with strangers. My brother and his wife from SC joined us for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well with plenty of room. As a side note, we really enjoyed having dinner at the Beech Alpine Inn which is about a 10 minute drive from the cabin and has live jazz music on Sundays (summer and fall) in a gorgeous setting. Also, we frequented our favorite Italian restaurant in Banner Elk, Bellas and also Zuzdas, which is a tapas restaurant at the bottom of Beech Mountain Parkway. Hope to rent for a month next fall!

A perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect with all the comforts of home. Everything was immaculate and well maintained. We couldn't have hoped for a better host. The Heather stayed in touch to make sure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. We were only sorry when our two weeks was over. Next year we hope to rent it for a month.

Beech Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great, the cabin was beautiful, the pictures we looked at prior to booking were spot on! We hope to return next year! We had a dusting of Natural Snow during our visit and regular visits from a small group of whitetail deer each day.

Owner's Response: Dear Jody, Thank you for sharing your review with other travellers and pointing out that the cabin photos are accurate. We want each guest to be very pleased with the accommodations and not feel like the cabin they reserved is different from the one they check into. Hope to see you for skiing next winter, or better yet, come back for a visit during the Summer or Fall. Both seasons are beautiful at Beech Mountain. Heather and Bob
