About The Owner

I am an artist and a landscape architect. I came to Naples only planning to stay a year and that was 15 years ago. My house is so close to the beach that I go there everyday with my chair coffee and journal to start the day and as often as possible end it with a spectacular sunset. The colors of this place and the nearby dolphins have gotten under my skin and if you rent my house you'll see my love of this place reflected in my paintings that hang in every room.

The Owner purchased this house in 1997

Why The Owner chose North Naples

Why rent my house? Proximity to beach and every other covenience. Peaceful private patios front and back outside and quiet comfort inside. Gorgeous State Park over the bridge. Lots of water access all around the area.

What makes this house unique

If you like biking there are trails all around that begin right from my house

Naples Beach Cottage a pleasant spot

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 2 small dogs enjoyed a 3months stay at Naples Cottage from January through March of 2014. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary implements. The cottage is close to the beach and plenty of places to visit and shop are close by. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we purchased a home in the park. The owner was very accommodating and was in contact during our stay to ensure our visit was pleasurable and stress free. We would recommend this home for families and the home had plenty of sleeping options available. Thank you for allowing us to share your home. We felt at home throughout our stay. Enjoy.

Fantastic place-- close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

House is very nice and has a nice updated kitchen. The house is very nicely decorated with Mary Ellen's artwork. On this trip, we only had two adults and one 11 year old. We had tons of space. This house can easily accommodate 6-8 (using the couches to sleep). Bedrooms were comfortable and there were plenty of hangers and dresser space for clothes.

Kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked in the kitchen every day-- except our day of arrival. It's always harder to cook in someone else's kitchen-- when you are used to your own. My advice is to bring a few of your "must haves" if you are able to-- particularly when driving. When we drive, I usually bring a few things that I'll want to have in the kitchen. This time, I brought (1) Espresso Coffee Machine, (2) Foreman Grill, and (3) a pot for making popcorn on the stove (so I didn't risk burning one of the house pots).

We found the house to be a great balance of budget and location. It is cheaper than some places you'll find that are right on the beach. For the better price, you get being close to the beach-- instead of on the beach. The beach is 3/4 miles to the actual water. It's about a 10 minute walk to the public beach entrance (right next to entrance to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park). It is a 2 minute drive to the beach. I recommend driving if you have gear. There is really no free parking at the public beach entrance. There is plenty of parking at the Delnor-Wiggins park for $6/day). The beaches were very nice / convenient. On one day, we ventured to Vanderbilt beach-- which is about a 10 minute drive to parking garage ($8 / day) followed by a 5 minute walk. Vanderbilt has a wider beach than Delnor-Wiggins pass and is more crowded. Both beaches are clean, well-maintained, with good facilities. I recommend researching both parks on the internet for additional details.

Mary Ellen is extremely accommodating and easy to work with. You can't rent from a better owner. She obviously cares that her renters have a great experience. There are some basic, common-sense house rules that are easy to follow. The main rules were to keep sand out of the house and be careful with oil on the granite countertops. (Both of these you would do at your own house). We found the rules easy to follow. For sand, we always entered through the garage to drop off gear Then, we showed in the outdoor shower at the side of the house to rinse off any remaining sand.

Very cozy, fully equipped and well maintained house!

  • 5 of 5

The house is very spacious, very well maintained and it is not missing anything (a lot of towels, a lot of things for cooking).

It was my first time renting a house in Florida and the transaction went very smoothly, Mary Ellen was always available - either by phone or by email - which was very important to me.

Thank you!

Great Week in Naples

  • 5 of 5

Hello,

I just wanted to write a quick note to thank you for a wonderful week at your Naples house. The weather was a bit cool by Florida standards, but heavenly for us northerners. The house fitted our needs just perfectly. It felt so homey and relaxing after long days of birdwatching at Corkscrew, Ding Darling, Shark Valley and Kayaking in the 10,000 Islands. We enjoyed many walks on the beach and one beautiful sunset (I'm sure there were more, but we spent one evening out at Corkscrew and another out to dinner).

My in-laws lived in Naples Park for almost thirty years, and most of my marriage. I've missed our yearly trips, so this week was especially wonderful for me. I believe I've convinced my friend what makes Naples so special and your wonderful home helped seal the deal. My father-in-law was an avid watercolor painter and photographer, and his home was decorated with his work. Seeing your beautiful artwork on the walls reminded me so much of all of our family trips to Naples.

Everything in the house was perfect. We had everything we could possibly need.

Thanks again. I hope I can convince my husband to make a trip later this year or next year and I will definitely be in touch to see if your place is available.

The beach house was great. We found everything that we needed was there to make this a great vacation. The owner had made all efforts to make us comfortable. Kitchen was fully equipped and artwork on walls was beautiful. Location is very convenient to stores and beach. We felt at home and would reccomend this home for a great vacation away from home.

Abounding Art

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely and spacious home and found the beauty of the exterior landscaping only surpassed by the art within. It was a real treat for these art lovers. You've done a wonderful job designing the kitchen and having the three bedrooms equally separated in quite convenient. Thanks so much, we'd love to come again.
