Location, location, location ... this home in lovely South Bethany Beach has it! Wake up to beautiful sunrises, soak up the sun, stroll the beach, go crabbing or clamming or biking, dine at fantastic local restaurants, be lulled to sleep listening to the waves...does a vacation get much better than this?
This beautiful oceanfront home has 5 bedrooms (2 with king beds, 1 with queen bed, 2 with two twin beds each and a queen sleeper sofa) with sleeping for 12 people, 2 areas perfect for kids (a loft and a separate game area with a ping pong table, large screen TV, DVD player, and mini-fridge), 3 full baths with all the comforts of home: central A/C, a well-stocked kitchen for the casual cook or gourmet chef with many small appliances, including a Keurig brewing system (bring your own K-cups!).
There is a large flat screen TV in the living room with an updated DVD collection for movie nights plus Smart TVs in each bedroom -- so you can stream on any TV (except in the loft). Also, there's free Wi-Fi internet access, plenty of board games & puzzles, Bluetooth clock radios in each bedroom, a gas grill, a charcoal grill, a washer and dryer, beach chairs and sand toys, bikes for adults, a garage, a beachfront deck, direct beach access (right down the steps!) in relaxing South Bethany (dubbed a 'quiet resort') known for its family-friendly atmosphere.
Well-behaved dogs welcome with prior approval plus additional $100 fee per dog per week -- no cats please.
Please note that the bikes are for adults in your party. Bring your own helmets and your kids' bikes and enjoy the outdoors on wheels! Ride at your own risk -- owner and realtor have no liability for any accidents that may occur.
BEACH: The beach is public, but it is not ever very crowded because it is near a residential area. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 10 am-5 pm (5:30 pm on weekends). Dogs are not allowed on the beach between May 15-October 15. Fishing and surfing are only allowed before 9 am and after 5:30 pm.
NEARBY: We often walk to McCabe's Gourmet Market in the morning to pick up breakfast and coffee to begin our day or cheese and appetizers to enjoy later in the afternoon while relaxing on our deck. Next to McCabe's is a place that will outfit you with what you need for a day of fishing or crabbing. We love to go crabbing, come back to steam them, and then dig in! There's Old Bay seasoning, a large pot, and mallets that we have stocked in the kitchen so you can do the same!
A STATE PARK is just a short 5 minute stroll down the beach. Also, there's a canal and some wildlife refuges nearby perfect for fishing, crabbing and boating. Small boats, kayaks and canoes have easy assess to launching at the canal.
The town of Bethany Beach is within walking distance (along the beach or road) with many fine restaurants, shops, arcades, and boardwalk. Stick around for some great evening outdoor concerts at the band shell on the boardwalk.
If it's more action and nightlife you're after, head just a few minutes north (to Dewey Beach or Rehoboth Beach) or south (Ocean City, MD) for tons of options from championship golf courses, mini-golf, shopping (great tax-free outlet shopping in Rehoboth Beach), restaurants, amusement parks, arcades, and nightlife galore.

We bought this house because we both love the beach and wanted a place to enjoy fun family times with our children and extended family. The location was key because we wanted to wake up every morning on the beach and fall asleep listening to the waves outside. We find the wide sandy beach perfect because it is relaxing without the crowds and noise of bigger beach communities. The house is located on a quiet street perfect for walking and biking and just two blocks from Route 1 that connects you with other beach towns like Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach (20 minutes north) and Ocean City, MD (20 minutes south) offering plenty of shopping (outlet shopping in Rehoboth), restaurants, amusement parks, mini-golf, championship golf courses, nightlife, and more!
Lyn purchased this house in 1997
We bought our oceanfront house because it has a cozy cottage feel, the beach is never crowded, and the location can't be topped. And there's not much more relaxing or rejuvenating than time at the beach!
We enjoyed our stay here very much. I appreciated the large open family room and dining area opening onto the deck, the ample parking, and the steps down to the sand next to the dune crossing. The five bedrooms and the loft area can accommodate a large group comfortably. We plan to return next year!
Please forgive my delay in writing my review. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The large, well-appointed kitchen, family room, loft and first-floor game-room easily accommodated our multi-generational group.
We loved the oceanfront views from the deck and easy access to the beach (you can use the steps from the deck or the first-floor door below the deck).. Everything we could want was provided; plenty of pillows, DVD’s, books, puzzles, ipod docks, smart tv’s and a crockpot.
York Beach Mall, just across Coastal Highway, is where we fetched the Washington Post for those of us that preferred the actual newspaper. Also there we found McCabe’s Gourmet Market with a great selection of scrumptious goodies, and Grotto’s Pizza.
There were five bicycles of various sizes in the garage that were put to use. Some of us rode to Bethany boardwalk and even well beyond that.
We had a lovely time here and I hope to return here often.
Absolutely stunning home on the beach. I come here every year. The owners keep up with the times when it comes to technology. Lovely balcony with view of the ocean. Very comfortable, attractive furniture. Well-stocked, neat kitchen. Beautifully decorated. Games and jigsaw puzzles, everything you would need.
My family has been coming to this house for years, and wouldn't consider any other place. This is a very friendly house, perfect for large families, and just suits every person in our group. Large well-stocked kitchen for the ones who love to cook, extra large dining table and peninsula for large family meals, and even another table for the puzzle. The deck is the best place in the house with the best views. The beds are all comfy and the owners seemed to think about every extra people on vacation would need or want. The loft area is a favorite with the kids, along with the game room and ping pong table. We love that you can get to the beach out of the downstairs door or off the deck, and when you come back, you can wash off the sand right there. And the bikes are a big hit -- we love riding to the town and boardwalk area and just walking around. I hope to be coming back to this house for many years to come!
Our family loves this beach house. Been here before, and they just keep improving the house with each stay. Having beach bikes that are pre-adjusted for short or tall is a great convenience! Daily bike ride was refreshing.
Location is perfect, right in the middle so access to OC, fenwick, and Rehobeth are easy. Highly recommend this house. Big, spacious great room and loft.
My family has been coming to this house for years, and every time it is wonderful! All the thought the owners put into their guests' comfort and enjoyment is so evident with the new additions and improvements every year. The kitchen has anything you might need for a large gathering. The beds are very comfortable, and the whole layout is perfect for kids and adults (and a baby and a dog)! There is even a spot for the ever-present puzzle in progress. This house suits our family for all these reasons - plus the extra large dining area, and the separate TV/game room. The loft is always the first draw for the kids, leaving lots of room in the living room for the adults. We also enjoy the outside of the house, the location, and it is a great bike ride into town. All in all, this house is well thought out and very much appreciated.
This beach house was decorated with family in mind -- plenty of seating in the great room and a massive amount of dinnerware, pots, pans, appliances, etc., in the kitchen. Even the kitchen bar area has 9 stools! I've never stayed in such a well supplied beach house. Bedrooms are on the small side, but with good closet and drawer space. Beds are comfortable. The great room is very large and can very comfortably fit a large family. We had an extended family group of 8 adults and 2 toddlers and were very happy with the space. (We did bring a kiddie gate for the stairs). The location was fabulous. Beach access is very easy. The bikes at the house make for a short ride to the boardwalk (and you don't have to pay to park!) Great house! We would definitely stay here again.
