About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

We know you will love our Captiva Island Hide-A-Way. The views of the bay are fantastic, especially at sunrise.

Our beautiful condo has been completely remodeled since Hurricane Charlie in 2004. Done in colorful island style with Mexican tile floors, cathedral ceilings, a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and a library.

The pool is right beside the bay and boat dock. Morning coffee, fishing and wildlife viewing are wonderful from the dock.

Rent kayaks or take a boat to another island from McCarthy's Marina, a two minute walk. Within five minutes walk to the beach for some of the best shelling and sunsets in the world. Restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops, island shopping also within a five minute walk.

We have a barbecue grill in our newly landscaped garden. Bikes are available for your use.

You will find everything you need to enjoy this island paradise.

About The Owner

We both worked in education as a teacher and a counselor. We are now retired and spend time here in Captiva and traveling.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1998

Why The Owner chose Florida

We fell in love with Captiva while vacationing here about 15 years ago. We were looking for somewhere quiet, different from the east coast of Florida-no high rises or chain stores. We found it here. You don't have to get in a car all week if you don't want to. Everything you need is in easy walking distance. If you want activity-biking, kayaking, tennis, theater, restaurants, shopping it is here. If you want relaxation, shelling, sunsets, wildlife viewing, lounging and reading, you can have that too.

We have found this to be a very inviting, friendly island.

What makes this condo unique

We especially love waking up to fantastic sunrises. Dolphin viewing is a daily activity. We appreciate being able to walk to everything we need including renting of kayaks and ferry rides to other islands. The bike path has been a great addition. Island music at local restaurants is fun. A morning walk on the beach is a great way to get exercise and then returning for sunset is a wonderful way to end the day.

Wonderful Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous, well-equipped, well maintained condo. Everything you need is provided. There is even an herb garden by the landscaped grilling patio. On site Property Manger was very helpful and friendly. The views are gorgeous. Activities such as kayaking, paddle-boarding, sunset cruise, fishing in the bay (Captain Tedd Polack!), etc are all easy to come by on the island. We also took an airboat tour in the Everglades (2 hrs away) which was fun. However, it was just as easy to sit at the pool, overlooking the bay, or walk two blocks to the gulf and spend the day watching the waves and shell seekers! Thank you Cindy and John for providing such a terrific vacation spot! We will be back!

Truly the best location in Captiva

  • 5 of 5

We always judge how good our vacation is by how fast we can convert from high-stress working mode to relaxed vacation mode. As soon as we walked into this condo and saw the views our blood pressure instantly went down and we started to relax. The condo is as good if not better than the pictures depict. The kitchen is fully loaded, the downstairs closet has all your beach needs (chairs, umbrellas, towels, pool toys, etc), and the condo itself is clean and well maintained. I would wake up early every morning to watch the sunrise on the pool deck and then every evening we would walk the 3-4 blocks to the other side of the island to watch the sunset and enjoy the party (appropriate for families with young children) by Mucky Ducks. We also loved being able to walk to many of the activities and restaurants around the island and not always have to get in the car.

The island itself is beautiful and if you want to be a beach bum this is the place to go. My only advice is before you pay the $6 toll to cross the bridge from Fort Myers to Sanibel/Captiva, go to a grocery store (I think there is a Publix on every corner from the airport to the bridge) and stock up on food and beverages. Grocery prices will give you some sticker shock if you buy everything on the island. The Island Store does have a great selection but you will pay 2-4x more for the convenience of shopping in your bathing suits & flip-flops.

Back to the condo.... I am a total beach person but my kids do prefer the pool. I felt like I had the best of both worlds at this condo. The kids could play in the pool while I sat and watched them, the water & dolphins playing in the background all at the same time. This was one of our best vacations in a long time. Thank you Cindy & John!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This lovely condo is even nicer than the pictures suggest. Everything that you would need is supplied and is new and state of the art. Beds and bathrooms are spotless.Best for us was the view from the lanai, breathtaking. The owners are great to deal with and leave nothing to chance, and there is an onsite manager to sort any queries. Just a 3 minute walk from small shops and restaurants, some of which are in need of some courtesy. Favourite places to eat are Green Flash and Island Cow. Overall a very quiet vacation in a beautifully maintained property.

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

As first time vacation condo renters, my husband and I could not have found a better unit to stay in for a week. The property was just as described and the pictures helped us to know we would feel at home in this well maintained, well furnished condo. Our communication with the owners made us feel comfortable as they are well organized, timely with paperwork, and were willing and helpful in answering any questions we had. This location is quiet, yet close enough to walk to where there is plenty of activity. We are looking forward to a return visit in the future!

Loved the Captiva Hide-a-way

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay in Captiva. Great central location allows you to walk to beaches in moments. Very well appointed flat, two bedrooms two baths perfect for family of 4 or less. Tastefully furnished, great enclosed deck, all conveniences of home are clean and updated. The back side dock situated on the bay is a glorious place to watch sunsets and enjoy the boats going by and marine life. Quiet and set back from main drive of Captiva, you never hear a car go by. If we go to Captiva we'll hope to stay here again only.

This is the most beautiful place I've stayed

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this condo for a week in June, and it is just as stated in the description by the owners. It is lovely. The location is fabulous, a 2 min walk to the village centre, with its restaurants, and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The pool is wonderful, with chairs and toilets on site, its wonderful just lying in the pool overlooking the bay, and watching whatever goes by.

There is everything you could possibly want in this condo, and the bed in the master was very comfortable, the shower room was great with a lovely large shower. Sitting in the lanai and watching Dolphin swim by, was fab, I even got up early to watch the sunrises, which were just mesmorising. I would recommend this condo 100%, and would hope to return at some point, for another wonderful relaxing time.
