Janet purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Janet chose Harlem
This flat is part of an authentic Manhattan neighborhood, near Columbia University, 20 - 30 minutes by public transport from New York's cultural and business institutions.
What makes this Apartment unique
Architecture buffs will find uninterrupted blocks of restored century old brownstones by renowned architects such as McKim, Mead & White. We are near one of a kind cultural institutions such as Columbia University, the Maysles Independent Cinema, live theater at the City College Gatehouse, and the Apollo Theater. Yankee Stadium is 20 minutes by public transport.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
We just returned from seven days and could not be more pleased with this accommodation. Janet and Tom are great hosts providing a clean, classy and very comfortable apartment. The history and culture of Harlem was a bonus. Getting around by transit is easy with subway stations a short walk away. Janet provides some fresh food to get you started and the apartment is well stocked. I highly recommend this VRBO and will definitely stay here again for our next NYC adventure.
You were astounding guests that knew more of Harlem’s history than I did! I can’t wait for your return, so that I can learn more.
Nice place to stay
A bit expensive, but NY is NY.
We were delighted to have you as guests and do hope we will see you again.
Relaxing home in Harlem
This property was perfect for three young women to stay in NYC. This home is a haven from the bright lights of Times Square. While being a tourist can be fun, we loved seeing the life that New York locals lead. Harlem has such a wonderful sense of community and we felt welcomed and safe.
Janet was a great host and answered all of our questions before and during the trip, which gave us peace of mind and excellent recommendations of where to go. The subway was a short walk away and was easy to navigate.
The home itself was lovely, clean and relaxing space to unwind after a long day of exploring. Everything you might need in the kitchen was provided (including basics like spices) and Janet was nice enough to provide cookies and breakfast foods.
I couldn't recommend this place more!
It was our great joy to have guests like you, who seek out and appreciate all the fascinating corners of New York. It's a large part of our reward as hosts. Please do return anytime.
Great place away from the downtown crowds. Short distance to subway, which will get you anywhere. Will definitely keep this place in mind for the future. Janet and Tom were great and responsive to our needs.
We were so delighted to see you and your family enjoying Christmas in New York! We do hope to see you again.
Lovely property, ideal for one person or a couple. There is a sofa bed but as this is effectively one huge room maybe not ideal for sharers.
Janet was very friendly and welcoming and I certainly appreciated the items in the fridge which meant I did not have to rush off to the supermarket to stock up for breakfast. Also the bottle of wine was a lovely touch.
Very well-located in terms of subway and buses.
Will definitely come again.
It was our great pleasure to host you, with your love of culture and your appreciation of the neighborhood. We very much look forward to seeing you again.
Comfortable brownstone in Harlem.
Hard to see from the picture but unit is actually the lower level door to the right. The owners live in the upper unit. Janet was a great host, providing helpful info about both the unit and the neighborhood, near by transportation, local shopping, eatery's, etc.
A lovely surprise was milk, juice, fruit, cereal, and cookies in the fridge.
It was nice to be outside of the busy inner city activity. The neighborhood was beautiful and we found many kind people who were most helpful in offering directions.
Would gladly stay again if our travels brought us back to New York.
We're always so pleased to have guests like you, who appreciate the special qualities of this historic and congenial neighborhood. We very much look forward to your next visit.
