Bisbee House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This spacious 2300 square foot, 4 bedroom, 2 bath distinctive vacation home is centrally and privately located in historic Old Bisbee. This home is truly the most luxurious, safe and comfortable vacation home in Bisbee. Don't want to pay booking fees? You can contact me through my website, look for Dragonview Retreat. Pricing is based by the number of people staying. There is a base fee for the first 2 people, then $25 per night per extra guest. Some holiday weekends are a set fee. Additionally, taxes are 13.05%. Dogs are $25 each for the stay, kids under 6 are free, so don't indicate them as people staying or you will be charged. Sorry, but this home is not accessible to the disabled or recommended for anyone having trouble climbing stairs. Private parking is ABOVE the house, and it is a narrow road to get here. You must walk down 40 stone steps with plenty of landings and railings. Travel light, I stock everything you'll need except your food and clothes. The house features vaulted pine ceilings, custom pine cabinets and trim, giving it a warm 'cabin' feel. There are 3 large queen bedrooms downstairs, each with french doors leading to multiple patios and gardens, and a 2 person hot tub (not available in summer) from which you can marvel at the breathtaking view of colorful houses stacked along the mountainside or gaze deeply into the stars at night. Upstairs is a king bed suite with a loft, private balcony and bathroom. Fine art by local artisans can be enjoyed in every room. Professionally decorated, having an Asian theme of wood and earth tones, pottery, and also featuring items from Japan. Be amazed by one of a kind wrought iron sculptures all over the property, featuring multiple dragons, the lady taming the serpent and a life sized dragon gate. Enjoy cooking and entertaining in the open living area seating up to 15 people. A large, fully equipped kitchen includes sharp knives, gourmet cookware, formal and informal dishes and glassware, also pantry items (bottled water, coffee, tea, oils, spices. paper goods, cleaning supplies etc.). Luxury linens, towels and spa robes are provided. Customers often remark on how comfortable the beds are. Flat screen TV's are in all bedrooms and the living room. The home has central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, a gas fireplace and free WiFi. . Private off street parking is available for 3 cars. Hiking paths are nearby, but just walking the multiple staircases in the area is the best way to see this historic town, built long before cars were invented. Well behaved children and dogs are welcome.

  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters

About Bonnie Williams

It is my long wished-for delight to share my Bisbee home with you and your family or friends. After 30+ years of renovations and reliance on many Bisbee artisans, the Dragonview is now ready for you to enjoy too. I hope you appreciate this unique town and renew your spirit in these magical mountains. My dog, Rosie and I live in the cottage, located at the far end of the property, so I am available to assist you if needed. I currently also work in Bisbee as a Community Development Program Manager for a 4 County area. I grew up in Canada, and moved to Bisbee in 1979. Later, I lived in Japan for 4 years, and was born in the year of the Dragon, hence my fascination with the creatures. The Dragon has many different meanings, but I like to think it will bring good luck to you! Be sure to take a picture with the life size Dragon Gate. I look forward to meeting you! Thank you for your patronage.

Bonnie Williams purchased this house in 1979

Why Bonnie Williams chose Arizona

While still living in Canada, one day I looked at a map of Arizona, saw the name 'Bisbee' and suddenly 'knew' I was going to live there someday. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, as many other residents and visitors have. The weather is near perfect, not too hot, not too cold, and the history of the area is fascinating. I love the sky, the stars, the mountain views and the warm people of this community.

What makes this house unique

There are few quaint and historic towns in Arizona, and Bisbee is the best. Slip back in time while enjoying modern amenities and inspiring views from this large and luxurious mountain home. It was half the size and quite a mess when I first bought it. It has been my 'art project' and a real learning experience, something like the old movie 'Money Pit'. The fantastic views and large yard were always there but I totally rebuilt the house, including pine wood ceilings and cabinets, stone walls and staircases, and the remarkable iron work all over the property.

Wonderful property!

We had a fantastic time at the Dragonview Mountain Resort. We held a work retreat there, and it was perfect for our needs. Spacious and beautiful and just a short walk to some wonderful restaurants. I would highly recommend this property.

Beautifully restored and expanded upon retreat in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time connecting with friends at the Dragonview Mountain Resort. The views were amazing, the hosts gracious, the space was perfect for our family and our friends' family too. Kid friendly and spacious. Easy walk in to town and local 4th of July activities. I couldn't ask for a better place to rest, relax and recharge. Thanks so much!

Dragonview will not disappoint! What a beautiful, large yet cozy home! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with everything and the view from the patio....AMAZING! Thank you, Bonnie for letting us stay in your home. Our group is planning a yearly trip to Bisbee in June and hope we can stay at Dragonview again.

Terrific rental home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented Dragonview for three weeks in February, 2016. We had our adult children and their families visit with us for various periods during our stay, so there were up to eight adults and 2 toddlers at the house at one time. Despite that, we never felt crowded. The place is spacious, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. The pictures really don't do it justice! It also has all the conveniences, from great appliances, to a two-person hot tub (best enjoyed under the stars), to a little closet beneath the stairs complete with toys for the kids. Bonnie, the owner, has thought of everything to make visitors comfortable. She is also extremely accommodating. Before booking, we asked if she happened to have a high chair at the house. She said she didn't, but then went out and bought one before we arrived!

The house is only a 15 minute walk from the downtown area with its shops and restaurants, but despite that, the setting is quiet and serene. The large patio has a terrific view of the valley and surrounding hills. We even enjoyed walking the stone stairways from the parking area down to the house, and from the house down to the main street, although those steps might prove difficult for someone with disabilities.

In all, this is a terrific house, one of the best we have stayed at in our many years of renting vacation properties. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Wow! can't thank you enough for your thoughtful and detailed review, and more importantly, for being such great neighbors for a few weeks. Not to mention what a small world this is, as we discovered you frequent my home town in Canada! I certainly admire guests who can put together a large family vacation! All the best to you both! Thank you so much!

Better than home

  • 5 of 5

My family took a midweek getaway at Dragonview in December. If the house hadn't already been reserved by someone else, we would have extended our stay through the weekend because we loved that clean, spacious house so much. Dragonview is beautifully decorated with local and Japanese art that complements the view outside, with just enough quirkiness to feel homey. The beds were exquisitely comfortable, the space was intelligently arranged with room to congregate and places to retreat for some privacy. A Christmas tree in the living room helped my kids feel like they weren't missing out on the holidays while we traveled. There is no avoiding stairs at Dragonview (or anywhere in Bisbee for that matter) but my 74-year-old mother is a trooper and managed the stairs to the house just fine by taking her time and using the handrail. From the toy closet to the coffee in the pantry, the hosts' attention to detail ensured that we all felt right at home. Actually, Dragonview was nicer than being in our own home.

Spacious, immaculate, wonderful

  • 5 of 5

As I write this, I'm sad to have to leave Dragonview in the morning after an 8- day stay. This was our ( husband and self) first trip to Bisbee. We had planned the trip a year ago for reuniting with our geographically dispersed family. Dragonview has been perfect! On arrival day we were delayed and notified our hostess (Bonnie) we would be arriving late. What a welcome sight it was to see lights on, find the key, and come into a such a warm and cozy house!

There are about 15 stair steps from the parking area down to the house, but the rail is secure , and it is well-lit from top to bottom. The website said the kitchen was well-appointed. Oh my gosh, yes! There was everything needed to have great family meals, or just a light bite for two. The fridge and pantry provided all the condiments and necessaries anyone might need. We made it easy on ourselves, brought a couple of prepared items, then did most of our shopping at the Safeway just south of town.

Dragonview home/retreat is beautiful—design touches merge Asian and southwestern motifs. It was spacious, personal, and just stunning, with lovely paintings, sculpture and pottery. I felt so privileged to be able to enjoy it day in and day out. It was so unlike the impersonal generic places I have stayed at in the past.

Bisbee was experiencing an unusual cold spell in late December, but the house, fireplace, cozy beds and furniture was nearly as inviting as Old Bisbee itself. For a family of 6 adults and 2 kids, the price was more than reasonable. Each of the couples had their own room and patio or deck— and the kids shared a room/bed. For those that resisted being "disconnected," there was excellent wifi and cable TV. We didn't use the outside soaker spa, but I definitely enjoyed the upstairs jacuzzi tub.

I am so overjoyed we found Dragonview— had we been a smaller group we might have overlooked it as too large. But the prices were reasonable even for a couple. It was beautiful, spacious, immaculate, and absolutely magical. I've written only a handful of reviews before, but this was worth writing about. This is by far one of the most enjoyable place we have ever stayed— anywhere. We will be back.

Bisbee is primarily a walking town due to the many public staircases constructed over mule trails by the WPA in the 1930’s that are a must to explore. See the many unique and unusual hillside houses and gardens not visible from the streets.

While visiting, it is recommended to take in the Queen Mine Tour, Old Bisbee Ghost Tour, Smithsonian affiliated Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, numerous art galleries, antique stores and many fine dining restaurants during your stay.

Bisbee is also centrally located for day trips to Tombstone, Kartchner Caverns State Park, and Chiricahua National Monument Wonderland of Rocks. Great birding opportunities are available on the property, at the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area and other nearby scenic locations.
