Ten minutes from the Peace Bridge, this cheerful family home has been lovingly been offered for summer rental. It is a great house for families to relax with their well behaved pets. The one-story house has a large comfortable screened-in porch decorated with white wicker furniture and a nice breeze. Dishwasher, washer, dryer, china, linens, towels, cooking utensils and appliances are all included to make your stay enjoyable. Wireless Internet if you need to work from home. Less than a 1/2 mile to the Friendship Trail bike path and Windmill Quarry. Forty-five minutes from Shaw Festival, Marineland, Two and a half hours from Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, African Lion Safari. Easy drive to Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Toronto.
This cottage is NOT directly on the waterfront. It is located 600 feet from the lake and has a lake view. This is a single story house, but contains steps and has no disability assessable ramps.
The house is managed by four siblings who spent every summer in the house. Each of the siblings still uses the house for their own family vacations.
Peter purchased this cottage in 1968
Our parents built this house in 1968 and we have spent every summer of our lives there.
Close to Niagara Falls, bike path, Windmill Quarry, Niagara on the Lake, the stone pier, Thunder Bay Drive-Inn, Ridgeway and many wonderful neighbors!
After an exhausting 12 hour drive, my family of five arrived late on a warm Saturday afternoon. The cottage was clean, windows and doors open for cross breeze and fresh air, and several fans blowing to circulate the air. The owners made contact briefly for a quick key exchange and to relay important trash pick up,recycle and composte information. The owners were incredibly accomodating, friendly and helpful. Although there is a tv available, my family was too busy with outdoor activities such as swimming in the lake and quarry, sight seeing and horse races during the day to watch the tv. The large screened in porch was great for morning coffee and the paper, wonderful meals and night time card and board games, reading and visiting. The yard was large and accomodated water balloon fights, volleyball, tag, play on swing set and rest in the hammock. With two full baths and four bedrooms, we had lots of space and some to spare. The cottage provided us with family time, rest and relaxation. We would certainly rent this cottage again.
I stayed here with five other people and the space did not feel crowded. The best feature of this cottage, in my opinion, is the large screened in porch. We spent the majority of our time on the porch. The porch includes: a large table, many comfortable cushioned chairs, board games and even table hockey. Moreover, the cottage includes a washer and dryer, as well as a dishwasher. Besides the cottage itself, the location was ideal for touring Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, and the new outlets. Even more locally, you can bike on a bike path to Fort Erie for the ghost tour.
This year I decided to do my research in finding a great cottage to go through with my friends and unfortunately because of people like "Val" from Toronto back in 2011 - she is the reason why renters RARELY rent to young adults. We rented last year in Crystal Beach - and I just want to say to any other potential rental, please don't treat cottages as a dumping ground. It's your house for a week not the city dump, because you ruin it for the rest of us:(
I cannot truly express how delighted we were to have stayed in this lovely cottage by the lake. When we arrived after a long drive the house was spotless, beds made up for us, and flowers on the table. We were met by the owner who gave us the keys and made us feel so welcome. They were nearby if we needed them, very accommodating, but never intruded. They were very honest and returned our security deposit promptly. The house is outfitted with all the amenities you could ever ask for - it was an absolutely perfect choice for us. The large porch has pretty wicker chairs where we caught up on our summer reading when we weren’t swimming or sunning on the beach. The setting is very private so it’s a place where you can really relax, but has nearby grocery shopping and a charming town (Ridgeway) nearby. I can’t remember when I had a more pleasant time in a rental property. We stayed a week which was too short a time, and next time will plan to stay longer!
We enjoyed ourselves enormously staying in Bertie Bay. The house was as advertised – it’s equipped with all the things you’d expect in a fully furnished house. The layout of the house is good and there’s a lot of privacy. The owners of the house live nearby and met us upon our arrival to give us the key and answer any questions we had. They were polite, never intrusive and honest as they returned the full amount of our security deposit after our stay. The house is set back from the beach and has a large spacious yard with trees, swings, etc. I especially appreciated the wireless internet because I could check in at work and confirm things were running well in my absence. We spent time equally relaxing around the house and enjoying the water sports. A big plus for me was the available biking and being a history buff, visiting nearby Fort Erie. I’d stay here again for sure.
If you are looking for rest, relaxation, peace, beauty, and tranquility--this is the perfect summer getaway. I stayed in the master bedroom, and it was so peaceful and quiet. Every morning, I would awake to the sounds of birds singing and other wonderous sounds of nature. The beach was relaxing, and since the beach is nestled in a cove--it was sunny and warm. There is a sand bar which is good place for young children to swim. The bike path is minutes from the house which makes it ideal for jogging, walking, and biking. One of my favorite past times was to take a patio chair down to the water and read my book by the water's edge. Since the bay is very calm and protected, it is great for kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. The house has a very large screened in porch which makes it ideal for entertaining family and friends. The house is very spacious, and there are actually two houses which are joined together by a screened in porch. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and pots and pans which makes it easy to cook and prepare fun summer dinners. I would highly recommend this lovely beach house for your summer vacation. The house is perfect for a family vacation or a couple seeking a romantic getaway. At the end of my stay at the beach house, I returned home rested, relaxed, and rejuvenated.
