In all our travels, we've not experienced such a great stay with the most gracious hosts! Gretchen and Greg are indeed all that has been written in other reviews. In addition to our welcome beer, our kitchen was stocked with thoughtful food items to tie us over until we could shop. The loft was beautiful and spacious, well-appointed, with plenty of space and great views of the property. Greg and Gretchen provided us places to see, the best drives to take (off the beaten path, and Greg gives great directions) and great places to eat! The property is spectacular-a beautiful space in a quiet location that is central to everything in Vermont. We left feeling like we'd stayed with long-time friends!
We got more than we expected. We arrived late and tired Gretchen offered us a tray of food so we didn’t have to leave. Needless to say, the food was delicious. The loft was beautiful and had everything we needed . The property with the brook and walking path was beautiful. Gretchen and Greg were very helpful with places to visit and helping to map out our days. Would definitely recommend this as a special place to stay. Hope to return again. Debi C.
We stayed at the 'Owl's Nest' loft for nine days at the end of July. The loft is beautifully furnished and offers a lot of space. The many natural materials like wooden walls and ceiling and the stone floor made the loft feely warm and cozy. Everything we needed for our cooking and ironing ambitions was there. Greg and Gretchen have been very helpful, friendly and have a very good knowledge of scenic places so that we finally found our wedding venue with their help. They were always quick to offer us their fantastic homebrewed beer and cider, granola and smoked cheese. With a 15 minute drive, you can go to Montpelier, a beautiful small town with a lot of good eateries and places to shop for groceries. The closeby nature has a lot to offer. Best about it are the many brooks, waterfalls and swimming holes you can get to by following scening trails through the woods.
We enjoyed our stay a lot and will definitely come back!
Little slice of heaven
Everything about our stay was wonderful. From the well appointed accommodations, to the recommendations from our hosts, the Owls Nest was an exceptional experience. The loft has everything needed to make your stay hassle free. The kitchen is set up for those who are passionate cooks to those looking for a place to keep a few things cold. The grounds have many areas to sit back and take in the sites and sounds of nature. The sound of the river flowing outside serves as a reminder to sit back and relax. You will lose count of the number of different birds seen from the balcony. Many windows provide a wealth of sunlight and natures breezes.
I can't say enough about the great hosts, Gretchen and Greg. They are knowledgeable about the area and have divine recommendations for food; both locally and greater VT. Their willingness to engage guests and ensure a quality experience was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband and I. It's clear that they have lived in the area for a while and enjoy sharing the wonders of VT with their guests.
I don't hesitate to recommend staying in this great loft. We will certainly be back again.

If you are looking for a peaceful respite from the everyday world this is it. The property is beautiful, the owners are wonderful people, the area is totally charming. Just enough out of the way that it's dead quiet at night with a sky full of stars. A short drive gets you into Montpelier where you can eat, shop, and dig the vibe they have in the downtown. The kitchen in the rental will allow you to cook some great meals with the local produce and whatever else you can find in roadside stands and the well stocked and ran local co-op in Montpelier. Relax after a days hike in the swimming hole on on your private balcony. I could go on and on about this place. Suffice it to say that if you like a quiet place out of town with great amenities and can find your own fun in the myriad local opportunities you will not be disappointed. Relax, have a locally brewed beer as you listen to the brook babble over the rocks, and forget about the rest of the world for a bit. A perfect getaway for a couple or small family that does not need a TGIF across the street and an amusement park nearby to entertain themselves. Thanks so much Gretchen and Greg.
Perfect Vermont Location
We were looking for a central location for our Vermont fall getaway. I'm always looking for non-traditional lodging that's charming and unique. Gretchen and Greg (and Gretchen's mom) truly have a lovely place here. The design and furnishings are comfortable and cozy - everything you would need. With Gretchen and Greg as your hosts, there is nothing better. From the tasty morsels they shared to the microbrewery education to the sauna / brook / trails around their property - it was the best!! The sight-seeing advice they shared helped us fill our days better that we could have on our own. Do not hesitate to use this loft as your home base. GO CUBS!!
Worcester is a village located in north central Vermont amid scenic mountain ranges, and drives dotted with small villages, mountain streams and brooks and beautiful barns. Spring offers a wide array of gardens and flowering trees, summer has great wildflowers, in fall the color is spectacular and pristine snow in winter is dramatic. Worcester is also very accessible to the busy art, music and historic events in Montpelier, Stowe and Burlington. It is a 3 hour drive from Montreal and a 30 minute drive to the northeast kingdom of Vermont.
Please note: There is an additional $20 fee per night for parties of more than 3 people.
