Downtown Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4), High Celings, Tile floors, Bright

Welcome to the Cottage at The Arsenal! Located at 404 Scott Street. This 2 BR/1.5BA was renovated in 2010. This cottage was our weekend home until we purchased a larger home for our family that is also Downtown. Walking distance to everything, you can park your car and never need it again until you leave downtown Beaufort. 40 steps from Beaufort Visitor Center (the Historic Arsenal). Very quiet. Bright and Clean. Great area.

Since you do not know the area or location, we have added pictures on all sides and behind the house so that you can see how great the surroundings are, no surprises!

1 block away from great restaurants, 1 block from Beaufort Day Spa,

2 blocks from Bay Street and the beautiful Waterfront Park, and 2 blocks from the Historic Old Point neighborhood with beautiful AnteBellum Mansions. The cottage is beautifully furnished with 2 Queen beds and a living room with a big Harvest table and comfortable leather couch. One bathroom has a shower (no tub). The other bathroom is an extra large half bath. The kitchenette includes a Microwave, Keurig coffee machine with starter supplies and small Refrigerator and granite countertop. This is not a cooking kitchen. The entire cottage is beautifully tiled throughout with Central Air and Heat. Private bricked courtyard off Master Bedroom. The master bed is made of antique pine , and has an antique drop leave side table.

The second bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, with a tall dresser and built in reading lamps on the wall.

The house is a 1950's RENOVATED BLOCK cottage, drywall over block, high ceilings, all new: electrical, plumbing and windows.

Great area. Location Location Location.

The surrounding homes are mostly owner occupied, not short term rental.

You can park right in front of the cottage.

We are very careful about pest control and cleanliness, and have contracted with a national pest control company.

Across the street is a small Historic synagogue and next to that is the Methodist Church. The cottage is on a one way street, which is extremely quiet and safe.

Parking can be on street, or in the grass lot right before the cottage.

The house has 9 foot ceilings and the master has a vaulted ceiling.

*****FREE WIFI WIRELESS and ~100 channels on the CABLE TV.*****

About Charlie Calvert

My wife and I are native South Carolinians. We live in Beaufort about a mile from the Cottage. We are available if you need anything as we are owner/managers. We recently purchased our dream home for our family, and are selling our waterfront lot with dock permit in hand for $175,000. If you are interested in seeing the lot when you stay at our cottage let me know. Beaufort is becoming a retirement destination and we are thrilled that many of our guests want to move here!

Charlie Calvert purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Charlie Calvert chose Beaufort

This is our personal guest cottage used by family and friends for overflow from our home. Many family and friends inquired about having friends stay there after enjoying Downtown Beaufort so much, so we decided to make it available.

There are VERY few properties as close to the waterfront as this property.

It is on a one way street, very quiet, upscale furnishings, residential feel, in an urban setting. The cottage is like a hotel suite, small kitchen area for coffee, microwave, bar fridge and sink. There is no washer and dryer, this is like a hotel suite.

What makes this cottage unique

Fully refundable deposit for any Parris Island Marine Family that needs to cancel.

Awesome, downtown location. This cottage is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and historical attractions. You can see the Historic Arsenal, now the Beaufort Visitors Center, from the front door! Convenient to Paris Island for graduations.

Great stay!!

  • 4 of 5

Great location, comfortable house. Parking was a small problem, but it seemed like the people that used the free parking in front of house were locals that worked nearby. They left around 4:30. But when we got parked we could walk most places in town. We love Beaufort and will be back again.

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Went to Beaufort on a Sister's Weekend. The cottage was perfect and comfortable for the 4 of us. Parking can be an issue in most tourist towns but there was parking along the street just in front of the home that did it have meters so we parked and we were in walking distance in the historic district. The cottage was nice and clean. We contacted the owner needing some information and he responded very quickly. He also checked in with us just to make sure all was going well. We would recommend this cottage. It is two bedrooms with queen beds and has two bathrooms, which accommodated the 4 of us very comfortably. We took a horse and buggy tour and there were other tours we did not have a chance to go on. The tours were very reasonable priced and very informative about the history of the town. We also took a trip to Hunting State Island to the beach and lighthouse, St. Helena and Lady Island, Port Royal and Blufton which were not far Beaufort. Also, Hilton Head and Savannah are not far either. Very beautiful city with so much to do. We had a very successful weekend and loved the city and the cottage.

The most comfortable bungalow in Beaufort

  • 5 of 5

This house was exactly what we needed as a home base to celebrate marine nephew's graduation from boot camp. Parking was not a problem. If the space 30' from the front door was unavailable, there was always a space within 1 block. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. This house was very convenient for our short stay but I would also recommend this unit for extended stays. The old town district was entirely within walking distance. For up to 4 people this cottage cannot be beat. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property and great host

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect home for our stay in Beaufort SC. The owner was very prompt in responding to communications and was there to greet us on arrival. The house was clean and perfect for our needs. The owners included a small notebook with things to do and local restaurants (including menu options) which was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at The Cottage at the Arsenal a day after our scheduled arrival due to tropical storm Hermine. The Calverts were nice enough to leave a key so that when we arrived at 7:00 a.m., we could go right in, put down the luggage and scoot off to breakfast! There was a major Dragon Boat event going on in Beaufort on Saturday so parking in front of the house and walking to breakfast was a plus. What a delight this cottage is and how nice it is to work via messages, phone and email with Charlie Calvert. He was able to answer all my questions (ie, where are the coffee cups, where is the wifi code) via message in a timely manner. We loved being so close to shopping and restaurants and didn't move our car all weekend! The walled patio behind the house was a perfect spot for a glass of wine after a long day of shopping and walking this lovely town! We were never able to figure out the TV but found we really didn't have the time to watch anyway!! This little cottage is so affordable and so comfortable that I know we will tell all our friends to book it and be back again ourselves!
