About Pam MacKenzie

I have been living in Key West since 1992 having moved here from Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been doing vacation rentals since 2004 and my three properties keep me plenty busy. My properties are strictly rentals and they are not a second home. I operate as a business using my Florida Corporation called Scotia, Inc. and the rentals are my primary source of income. All three properties are licensed as transient rentals with both with the City of Key West and with the State of Florida.

You can also find me and my business on Facebook as Key West Breeze Vacations.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Hi Pam. I trust you found everything in order after we left on the 4th. I want to thank you again for our cute little rental - it has a lot of classy & well thought out details that many other units just do not have. We had a blast in K.W. & will definitely contact you again should we get another chance to holiday there. Take care,

Wendy

This Simonton Studio is the PERFECT place to stay when vacationing in Key West!!

  • 5 of 5

First, the LOCATION of this studio is PERFECT for enjoying Key West. We LOVED the convenience of being able to walk or bike to most of the places we wanted to visit. It was great to be so close to Duval, but we also truly enjoyed peace and quiet when returning to the studio!

Everything about this studio was perfect for our needs. The place was very clean and cozy, yet still had everything we needed or could want available. We'll admit we ate virtually all our meals out, but it sure did seem that Pam had everything available should we have wanted to prepare some meals there. How nice that even beach towels were available for our use! That certainly saved luggage space!

We read some reviews where people complained about the roosters crowing, but we felt like that just added to our experience. We heard them, but we really didn't find them too loud at all. Some people also mentioned the sugar ants, but again, we had no problems. We followed Pam's advice for storing our food (mostly snacks for us!)

...perhaps others neglected to do so?

We hope to visit Key West again soon, and we hope to stay at THIS studio again!

We highly recommend this Studio as a GREAT place to stay in Key West!!!

Simonton Studio in Key West

  • 5 of 5

The Simonton Studio is a perfect place to stay for a long weekend in Key West! The location is ideal and the fact that the unit comes with two bikes is extremely convenient. The studio is small, but it has every amenity we could have wanted -- comfortable, king bed, chairs with a coffee table that can also raise to become a dining table, full kitchen, and a well updated bathroom. The unit was clean and exactly as described. We've stayed in a hotel in Key West before and will never do that again, knowing how great this place is for a very similar cost. The only negative about this rental is that the provided bikes don't come equipped with lights, which are a requirement when riding around Key West after sunset. That's a very minor negative, though, as the location of the studio makes most places very walkable. To be sure, we will likely bring lights to use on the bikes during our next visit. Pam is very easy to work with and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Simonton Studio to friends, family, or anyone!

5/5 - Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly sized for two people, a well-equipped kitchen, indoor/outdoor seating, a locals' guide to the island, and bikes for transportation. The studio has every amenity needed for a basic stay in Key West. Perfectly situated for a quick walk to Duval or a bike ride to Higgs Beach, the location cannot be beat.

Cozy, comfortable and close

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place to stay in Key West. It was very reasonably priced, impeccably clean and the perfect size. It had a well equipped kitchen should you want to prepare meals and plenty of room for a studio apartment. The king size bed was very comfortable. It was close enough to Duval street and it's shopping/nightlife to easily walk to it but yet far enough away to not be in the middle of it. The bicycles that were provided made getting around the island to other places very easy. The trek to Zachary Taylor State Park for snorkeling was maybe 10 minutes on the bicycles and the snorkeling there was phenomenal. The Hemingway House is an easy 5 minute walk, only a couple of blocks away.

Notes:
Key West is a town filled with Victorian architecture; it has a history filled with pirates, salvaging and the wealth that those trades once brought. It has been a refuge for writers, Presidents, parrotheads(Jimmy Buffet fans), artists and tourists looking to find a different Florida experience. Key West is funky, eccentric, expressive, tolerant and fun loving. The nearest beach is South Beach, 6 blocks form the condo. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park has the local's favorite beach and is about 1 mile from the condo. For a beautiful pool try Dante's of Key West, a fabulous restaurant located at 955 Caroline Street in the Conch Harbor Marina on the corner Grinnell Street. They offer a wide selection of food, from their fresh seafood, caught by local fishermen to sandwiches that anyone will enjoy. The pool is for patrons of Dante's to enjoy; go in and have some food and drinks, while you are there take a swim in the afternoon to beat the Florida heat.
