The Solitude experience is really something that you must experience before you can understand how wonderful it. Nestled in the heart of beautiful Big Cottonwood Canyon is a charming little European style village. Set inside of the village are little restaurants, a small ice skating rink, a beautiful club with heated pool and hot tubs, and tons and tons of snow. Right next to the village is Apex and Sunrise lifts that you take you up the mountain to some world class skiing and powder. The experience that you will have there with your family is one that will keep you coming back for more and more. Solitude's list of annual guests keeps growing and growing.
About our upgraded condo: It was built in 2000 but was just purchased by myself at the end of 2010 and completely refurnished with every piece of furniture. We have features that you won't find at other condo's in Solitude. Secure WIFI and HD Televisions to begin with. (Most condos up here do not have these upgrades) Our unit is in the Powderhorn Lodge, facing the inside of the courtyard, giving you peace and quiet throughout your stay. The unit is One Bedroom + Den and is 759 square feet. It has a King Bed in the bedroom, a bunkbed/futon in the den, and two full size couch beds in the living room (5 beds total) It sleeps up to 5 people. We also have a 42' High Def Television (1080p) in the Living Room, a 32' High Def TV in the bedroom, both connected to a 100+ channel DirecTV package which includes HBO. There is also a 27 inch High Def Internet TV that has streaming Net-Flix available in the den. We have a secure wifi router just for you inside the condo for great internet reception. In the Kitchen we have all the items you'd find in your home (i.e. pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, etc. even a crock pot ) My business partner and I spend alot of time up here and we have made it as comfortable and amenity filled as possible.
Solitude's European Village is a great resort that has a limited number of rooms available in the Forest Service's Protected area of the Cottonwood Canyons in Utah. The Cottonwood Canyons are world reknowned for it's continual 500 annual inches of fresh powder that falls year after year. Brighton (featured in a few Warren Miller movies) is 2 miles up the canyon and you can purchase a Solitude/Brighton lift pass which allows access to both resorts.
Solitude's skiing is excellant. My favorite part about it is enjoying the same powder you see at Alta/Snowbird but you have hardly any lift lines. As a local Utah skiier, it has become my favorite resort because of this. Most Utah locals know that the Cottonwood Canyons, because of their location as the forefront Mountains in the Rockies, get significantly more snow than other Utah and Colorado resorts. These Mountains rise above the Salt Lake Valley floor in an extreme display of vertical change. They pierce the clouds, draining them of their precious, light powder and then allow them to float over to Park City, Deer Valley, and the Canyons where they deposit half of the amount of snow. Just for reference: 2010-2011 ski season. Solitude received 646' of snow compared to Park City's 336' of snow.

Nathan & Rick are friends that met while working in the same building in Salt Lake City. Both are avid skiiers with families. Nathan works as a CFO while Rick works as an agent with State Farm.
Nathan purchased this condo in 2010
They decided to purchase the condo after Nathan vacationed there over the July 4th weekend. He felt like he was in a different country, thousands of miles away with some of the most gorgeous scenery that he'd every seen; Though he was only 30 minutes from his house. Nathan convinced Rick to invest with him and they've loved the place ever since.
The Ski-in/Ski-out is huge as Nathan has younger kids that don't want to ski very long, though it doesn't spoil the trip when their done. The nature up there is amazing, both during the summer and winter. Club Solitude is great for staying entertained and refreshed.
We had a very nice time at your place and at Solitude. It would have been better if we could have a bit more snow, but I don't think you could have done anything about that. You have a nice place and we will look to rent from you again if we go again.
Happy New Year!
The unit was everything we needed for a ski vacation. Loved the fact that this is a first floor unit which makes it great location and short walk to hot tub and ski locker/front door. Had a concern that it was going to be noisy being first floor but did not hear another sole while there, could just be that solitude is aptly named, as it felt like we were at a private ski resort, and this was after a 60+ inch storm. Unit is very comfortable to come back to after a day on the slopes, well stocked kitchen for cooking and nice to relax in when not at the sauna and hot tubs of club solitude. Would definitely stay again, thanks Nathan!
Unit is in nice location on 1st floor! Very well stocked with linens, especially towels! Bath well supplied with soap, shampoo and good quality tp. Kitchen had ample supplies for cooking also well stocked with towels, both cloth and paper. Only thing missing in kitchen were plastic cups which would come in handy for the hot tub right down the hall. Owner was very prompt and communicated well! Nice overall experience with condo. Would rent it again if returning to Solitude.
This was a terrific place to stay for our family of four who are a big skiers. We stayed over February break. The unit had everything we needed, was clean, up to date and comfortable. Although small, it's layout allowed the teenagers and Mom and Dad to have enough space (although it should be said that we were on mountain all day). And Nathan, the owner, was terrific throughout the process. The unit is about as close to ski-in/ski-out without being so (its a short walk to the Apex lift). Solitude is one of the hidden gems of Utah. We were there over Presidents Day weekend and there were NO lift lines AT ALL. Although smaller than options like Park City, there are a LOT of steeps here and no lines, while having plenty of groomers for the less aggressive of our crew.
Absolutely perfect location beautiful condo can not wait to return
Stayed here over July 4th weekend and enjoyed wonderful mountain views, hiking, biking, and tennis with the family. Great family friendly atmosphere, rigorous hiking, and an attentive owner who helped us through the vacation rental process and beyond! Would highly recommend Solitude to future renters.
Solitude is a fantastic spot for a family ski vacation. Lots of terrain for all ski levels and no lines! This is s very nice condo conveniently located to the lifts.
