We generally found the home to be comfortable. The master king bed was of good quality. They use good quality sheets and towels.
This was the cleanest home we have ever stayed in while in Puerto Rico. Bruny the housekeeper is a gem!
The home is close to the Luquillo beach and rainforest.
A few problems we encountered were:
We stayed 11 nights. 6 days into our stay a dishwasher was finally installed. Empty hole when we arrived. Repairmen live on island time.
Be sure before you stay to find out if the upstairs bathroom shower plumbing has been fixed as it will pour water into the kitchen below. This was never fixed during our stay so we were unable to use this bathroom. As the rest of the house was in good repair I would guess that this will be taken care of soon.
Neighbors on both sides have several dogs each that have dogs that bark at sunrise and sunset and anytime people are near. - Not a problem if you don't care but quiet coffee on the beautiful deck were not something that we were able to enjoy. This home is in and area with a homeowners group and the issue may also be resolved. We were told we were the first to comment on it.
The pool is not heated and the water can be cool even for a Minnesota lake family.
The very clean home was really important to us. This makes any noisy dog worth putting up with.
After staying here back in 2013, once again we planned our family reunion to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary returning to this beautiful house. The house is still impeccable and the facilities are in great shape. The owners and their rental representative are the nicest people you can deal with. The owner Mickey gave us a call to make sure everything was ok and to ensure that we were having a great time. Vilmari, the rental representative was attentive as well to any need we may have had. The pool and BBQ were our preferred areas. Nevertheless the hammocks facing the beautiful El Yunque were by far my favorite spot.
The recreational areas of Hacienda Carabalí are great. We even got Mom (76) to go on the four track tour... she had a blast!! Almost the whole family also went on the horseback riding tour that is offered at the Hacienda where the house is located.
All these experiences made our second time around an even better vacation. Already planning to go back in the near future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
We had a great stay during our week in Puerto Rico. The pool was terrific, the views fantastic, and the layout perfect for our party of 11. We enjoyed the open floorplan, the spacious kitchen and applicances, the big grill overlooking the pool, the hammocks on the deck, and the ping pong and pool table in the game room. The house was big enough so that everyone could have their own space when they wanted it, but it was very easy to all assemble and hang out. Many people could be in the kitchen or living room or deck. We had 2 openers for the gate to the neighborhood, which was sometimes tricky because we had 3 cars, but it worked out for the most part. We made use of the nearby resort's facilities, including the go-karts and ATVs. The main downside to our time here, however, was that there was no water for a day and a half in the beginning of our stay. It put a huge damper on our activities (no drinking water, showers, toilet flushing, cooking, etc), and it took quite a bit of effort to get it sorted out. In the end, the owners were attentive to our needs and we had water for the remaining time. We just wish it hadn't happened at all.
Well things started off wrong when I happened to look at my Drivers License the night before our flight and found that it was expired, so I had to get up early and wait at DMV before they open so i can get in and out before 12PM flight, once that was accomplished, we arrived at the airport and needed to drop of the car to overnight parking. Who knew you had to reserve this in advance and they were completely booked due to spring break and Easter. So I called another place and lucky they had caller ID, saw my last name and fit me in because of where my family was from. Next we land in Puerto Rico and we haven't received the check in info or anything so we contacted the owners and they were able to provide directions and instructions on getting in.From the airport it is now 7 PM and traffic is insane and took us an 1 and half to get there. Then we finally do get there and we ended up on the wrong property, which they also happen to own and is down the street. So we get to the rental after this nightmare of a day and had absolutely the best family vacation ever. The kids loved the pool and the basketball court below. My mother and father loved the coconuts and the view off the balcony every morning with our coffee. Enough room for the 8 of us and even though the air is not running constantly due to energy costs, once you go to sleep and turn it on it is very comfortable. Only bad part was the video games which i forbid the kids to use since we are vacation but thats my rule. Thank you Vilmari
I started my review and the computer collapsed!!! If already submitted, my apologies.....
I live in Puerto Rico and I'm used to local tourism. However, this is by far the best property to enjoy the Island, It has a very unique feeling of a countryside property, with almost immediate access to the best beaches in Puerto Rico.
The property itself gives you a firsthand taste of our tropical atmosphere. Great views of our topography, being in the middle of El Yunque Forrest but right across to Luquillo Beach.
It is located near enough of San Juan, but far enough to feel like you are away of the city's atmosphere.
The property is as clean and well maintained as you would expect in a 5 star hotel, with more amenities than you could possibly expect:
1. Great pool area
2. BBQ facility with access close to the kitchen area
3. Recreational outside areas with basketball court
4. Game room with table tennis, pool and dartboard facilities
5. Kitchen, family, and dining room area are very comfortable, probably one of the best features of the property - great to entertain, great to enjoy and relax.
Again, It excelled our expectations. We will come back...
Other Activities: Four Tracks, Go Karts, Wave Runners, Kayak, Bannana and Boat Rider and much more. There so many things to do in our beautiful island.
