About Barbi Taylor

Jacksonville, Florida is our home and we love all the benefits of living here and having our family here, but Beech Mountain and its ambience calls to us and has been doing so for fifteen years. Throughout the years, we've built many wonderful memories on the mountain, and are thrilled to have the opportunity to share this home with you, so you too can create special memories with family and friends.

Barbi Taylor purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Barbi Taylor chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We fell in love with Beech Mountain in 2000, and have been returning ever since. Summers on Beech provide an invigorating respite from the heat, autumn brings not only beautiful fall colors but weekends filled with mountain festivals, followed by the all the joyful experiences a winter wonderland can offer. Each season has its special appeal and provides opportunities for enjoying the many associated activities. Its central location allows easy access to the Blueridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Gorge, Blowing Rock and so much more! Come see for yourself!!!

What makes this cabin unique

Our home is cozy enough for a couple or large enough for friends and family to share. Surrounded by woods on three sides, it gives you the sense of being in a tree house yet has expansive views you can enjoy from both inside the house and outside on the large decks. Enjoy quiet time in front of one of two fireplaces; have an old-fashioned family game night 'round the large oak table (cards, poker chips, as well as time tested board games provided); or watch the sun set while roasting marshmallows outside at the fire ring. Come make some memories!

What an amazing weekend we had! Thank you so much for making your mountain home available for us. Everything was in working order and exceptionally clean and comfortable. The folks you have taking care of your cabin are doing an amazing job. It is obvious you love your home. So many wonderful treats! A fully stocked kitchen, linens, soap, tissue paper and paper towels, coffee supplies, and so much more!

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house last weekend with a group of friends, and I can't say enough great things about our experience. The owners were easy to work with- checking in with us prior to our visit and answering any questions we had. 1 foot of snow fell on our drive up to Beech Mountain from Charlotte and another foot of snow fell during our stay. It was absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend 4 wheel drive if you are planning to use this home anytime in January or February. You may not need it if there isn't much snow, but in the case of a heavy storm- you will need 4 wheel drive to get to the house and up the drive way. The drive way is steep, but its paved and the owners had arranged for someone to plow the driveway prior to our departure on Sunday. The roads up to house were well marked, and the directions provided by the owners were spot on. The roads were not cleared during the storm, but were cleared by the next day. The house is designed well with two large hangout areas. There is cable, wireless, and we even had great cell phone service (with verizon). The kitchen was well stocked, and the gas fire places were amazing! The house is very modern and updated with a rustic cozy feel. The bed we slept in was more comfortable than our bed at home. Most of our group skied on Saturday and it was a few minutes drive away. If you need anything during your stay, may sure to visit Fred's. I would definitely stay here again!

Fun and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

2 families stayed in this cabin over the long MLK weekend in January 2016. We all had such an enjoyable time! We spent the first night just relaxing at the cabin and playing games due to the rain. The second day we ventured out to Ski Beech Mtn. Resort, but after waiting in long lines (we will try visiting Sugar Mtn. Ski Resort next time), we decided to stock up at the grocery store and head back just to enjoy the cabin. So glad we did, because when we woke up on our 3rd day we had been snowed in. We spent the entire day sledding on the driveway and going for long walks up and down the mountain. It was completely covered in snow and was absolutely beautiful!! The (5 year old) kids had so much fun sledding, building a snowman and having snowball fights. We saw lots of deer too! The cabin is fully stocked and very comfortable. We definitely want to come back and enjoy Blueberry Junction either in the fall or summer. It was such a wonderful time and will be memorable for sure! Thanks for sharing your home!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words, and I'm so glad the weather cooperated and provided you the opportunity to see the mountain covered in snow. It is a winter wonderland. It's also great to hear you took advantage of the sledding possibilities right there in front of the house. We look forward to your return in other seasons. You'll love getting away from the sweltering summer heat to enjoy the cool mountain air in the summer or to enjoy the autumn foliage in the fall. Best wishes 'til then. Thanks again!

Total Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blueberry Junction. The house is roomy yet very comfortable. It had everything we needed and then some. The views are spectacular and Beech Mountain has a lot of great hiking trails. We loved seeing all the deer, and there were a lot of them, in the mornings and early evenings. It was a very relaxing long weekend get-a-way. Looking forward to a return visit.

Despite very wet weather, amazing place.

  • 5 of 5

Despite being rained on for four straight days and being engulfed in clouds and mist, our stay was very nice. This was the same storm that wreaked havoc on South Carolina so we can't whine too much since being in the higher elevations likely added a layer of protection for us.

The cabin was everything we expected and the previous reviews are echoed by our experiences. It was very clean (number one priority), very warm and comfortable, and had all the amenities of home. We had five people in our group and between the two floors, we had more than enough space to relax and find privacy within its confines.

The only challenge really was driving to and from the cabin into Banner Elk and Boone. There are roads and other cabins all over the place and it's very confusing at first. But after the first day we utilized our phone GPS and a few landmarks, and by the last day didn't need them at all. In fact this is the kind of place that's somewhat fun to get lost in. So much new vegetation and white-tail deer and really cool homes and cabins and awesome landscaping.

The area in and around Beech Mountain is worth the stay itself, however the App Trail and other well know sites can keep you busy for weeks if you had the time. Anyway this place is highly recommended from our standpoint and we would not hesitate to stay again if we have the chance. The owners easy to work with and upfront and honest. Nice to work with people who care about your needs as a guest and are concerned with your comfort and experience. Thanks again to our hosts, really appreciate the hospitality from ol' Wyoming.
