About Karen Eldredge

My name is Karen, I am the property manager. My husband Kevin and I are both pilots, who enjoy traveling and meeting new people. We have numerous life time memories of living in the Ernie Ball ranch house. As a former owner of the ranch, I can assure you that you too, will never forget the memories you make in this lovely home.

Karen Eldredge purchased this estate in 2005

Why Karen Eldredge chose Central Coast California

If you are seeking peace and quiet, you just found it!

Nestled in the midst of wine country, with only a short drive to downtown SLO. It is our hope that you would enjoy a truly exclusive opportunity to visit the Central Coast.

What makes this estate unique

I love driving through the vineyard, onto the open cattle range. Sometimes you see adorable calves roaming about, other times it may be deer wandering through. There is a creek that winds in between large, beautiful sycamore and oak trees. With wandering limbs; some down to the ground, these trees make a beautiful backdrop for pictures..

There is a baby grand piano, just provide the piano player. There is a pool table in the loft, and a ping pong table in the garage. There a numerous games for your family and friends to play.

You will have complete privacy on the ranch. The open range mile and a half, dead end, dirt road discourages sightseers. Also our road was tagged as one of the prettiest roads to walk in SLO.

On top of the hills of the Ernie Ball ranch, the views are incredible!!!

Come make some lifetime memories of your own!.

Peace at last!

  • 5 of 5

I admit I was hesitant to stay here at first, my wife’s standards can be pretty lofty and a “country house” is quite a stretch from usual concierge level five star places she prefers. We decided to escape the large crowds in favor of a smaller “family only” Thanksgiving with our newborn grandkids. If you want to find tranquility in a spacious and idyllic setting, this is it. Though minutes from nearby vineyards (insert wine tasting here) and shopping, you will feel like you’re a 1000 miles from civilization. The 1.8 mile drive to the house (mostly along a well maintained dirt/gravel road) takes you away from the sounds of city life and is replaced with the sounds of mooing cows and screeching hawks that are the size of turkeys. Welcome to horse country! The expansive fireplace and abundance of firewood makes for a delightful setting that will calm the most frayed of nerves. Clean and comfortable, you will not be disappointed in this remote hideaway nested in the rolling hills of SLO. There is ample parking (including covered parking in the rear and garage areas), a ping pong table and billiard table. We never got around to using the Jacuzzi or large stone tub…maybe next time. If like me you are a stress case and simply want to decompress and rest…this place will fit the bill nicely. I slept great…and often. Go enjoy yourself, relax and escape the madness of everyday life. This is your getaway place.

Not the Family Vacation We Hoped For

  • 1 of 5

We stayed at this home for our family vacation last June and were disappointed to say the least. For starters this home was advertised as "Luxury" but was far from it. We went in with the understanding that it was a country home and may not be spotless and have its share but the conditions we found the house in were far worse than expected. Dirt built up in the windows, cobwebs throughout the house, mouse feces piled up behind furniture, bats nesting in the patio area with the mess they had made running down the walls, burners not working on the stove, poorly stocked kitchen, broken furniture, and much more. When we contacted Karen she was very helpful at first and offered to comp us two nights to make amends for the condition of the house. However upon checkout she revoked our entire deposit. She stated that we had broke an item in the house (which we didn't but maybe was one of the broken things we hadn't found during our stay), there were more people at the house than allowed (There definitely was not even counting babies under 1) and that they had to hire movers to move the furniture back (we did move a futon mattress downstairs for the kids to watch movies and forgot to return it but hardly something that would necessitate hiring movers at the cost she claimed. Also she said we stole the towels (Which we had put in the washer and started before we left). On top of this on 2 of the days someone drove up to the house, slowly around the the drive circling the house, and then back out. Aside from being odd this wouldn't have been that bad except for the fact that the master bedroom shower is in front of an unobscured window next to the driveway and my wife was about to take a shower at the time. Needless to say she didn't feel comfortable using the shower in that bathroom anymore. We found out later that one of the trucks was the owner and we were told he didn't know anyone was staying there....There were 3 cars in the driveway and this also happened 2 days in a row. For the amount of money they charge for this place (Especially when they keep your entire deposit on top of it) you are throwing your money away. And if you decide to rent this place anyway.....Good Luck!

40th Birthday Bash

  • 5 of 5

You can't go wrong with the Ernie Ball house for either a quiet weekend alone, family gathering or ?? We used it for a couple purposes - party and quiet day alone.

My husband rented this property to hold my surprise 40th birthday celebration. It is the perfect house for a gathering! The open floor plan of the kitchen/dining/living area made it easy to entertain. Guests have space to mingle altogether and can find quiet areas away from the group to catch up in private conversation.

We hired a pizza oven to cater and it pulled up just outside the patio near the garage which is a fantastic catering area. It was raining cats and dogs the night of the party. The house has a magnificent porch area with ample seating so our guests could enjoy the outdoors even in the rain. The road is 'dirt' heading up to the house but it's a fine redrock road. Through the severe rains we had it was easily passable with all guests' cars. We had worried a bit about that but it turned out not to be an issue at all.

Once our guests left we got to enjoy the hot tub outside amongst the stars when the rain cleared. Not a light from another house around. The perfect ending to a perfect night!

We brought our children out the next day to enjoy the hot tub and the other family friendly aspects of the property. There is a pool table upstairs that they enjoyed very much, along with the neat rock shower in the master bathroom after they played in the hot tub. On a sunnier, drier day I could envision us all taking a walk up or down the road and enjoying the creek and sycamore trees!

The property is within very quick distance to both downtown San Luis Obispo and many wineries. We don't like to stay in cities and this house is the perfect compromise between a country vacation and an adventure in a new town. You are in town in 5 minutes and when you are at the house you can forget there's even a town nearby. You can't go wrong staying here! We loved it!

Amazing family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the ranch. The property is amazing and beautiful. Our family loved our several nights of cooking, playing games, and conversing by the fire. While it rained a lot while we were there, we enjoyed all of the amenities available to us. The kids enjoyed the jacuzzi under the stars, some of us enjoyed a good game of pool and cards, and the boys enjoyed watching sports by the fire. It had something for everyone! We hiked when we could and loved the rolling hills complete with cows and horses wondering about. The house and casita provided plenty of privacy for a big group. Karen was amazing from beginning to end. While you feel like you are out in the country, the town of San Luis Obispo is a just short drive away. We enjoyed exploring the town, the coast, and seeing the elephant seals. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect property to spend our family time together. We will definitely e returning to this property in the future!

Idyllic get away on a magnificent ranch!

  • 5 of 5

My husband had a big Birthday and requested a getaway which needed to be quiet, scenic, relaxing, and enjoyable for family, and cooking, while allowing for fun, and wine tasting! My task was big, but found this amazing ranch which not only met every request, but, exceeded all expectations! We were close to all wine tasting and could hike the hills with views which were beyond breathtaking, we could hear the water bubbling and flowing throughout our stay, waking up to the sunshine twinkling through the beautiful oaks, and every morning enjoyed coffee on the vast porch. In the evening the grand fireplace was lit, we all relaxed and ate forgetting all diets, played games, and enjoyed the baby grand in the great room, and heard the laughter coming from the loft as a game of pool was being played!! There was something for everyone and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and ample. All our guests were not eager to leave and this wonderful place will always be a great memory to our family!!

Lovely ranch-like experience

  • 5 of 5

We have rented a number of houses over the new year's holiday and this one pops right to the top of the list! Such a beautiful and lovely setting in a small valley off the lovely Edna Valley just outside San Luis Obispo, this house is a wonderful escape for a family or group of friends. The grounds are beyond beautiful, walking along the road is peaceful and serene -- full of woods, a creek, amazing birds and the occasional cow or horse nearby. The house is exceptional, it has the feeling of a California ranch house but either originally was or has been updated into a luxurious, well-equipped vacation home. The kitchen is large enough for everyone to chip in, there's a huge dining room table (plus options outside in warm weather), a lovely fireplace and sitting area, but lots to do -- besides walking, there is pool, ping pong, a hot tub out back and my favorite, that huge porch on the front of the house. We enjoyed sitting out there during the day or evening to enjoy the view, the birds and the peacefulness of the place. The house is well-equipped. The beds, sheets and towels are excellent quality. The internet is slow, but that's a trade-off for the valley! It's only about 10 minutes from all you need in SLO, but feels so much more remote. Plenty of wineries, yoga classes, etc. nearby. There are also the dunes that our group explored and enjoyed (a bit farther drive), as well as the local restaurants. We are already planning a visit back this summer! Enjoy!
