Come play in the beautiful area of Dillon Beach, on the Marin County Coast. Our vacation beach home sleeps 12 in 5 bedrooms. Views are gorgeous, area is awesome! Fun for any age.
We love families and retreat groups. Book a week in 2016 for your reunion with your family or a corporate retreat. This is a beautiful and special place. Many of our guests return every year, booking the same week each year. Reunions, Corp. Retreats, Family and Friend time, our home is perfect for any occasion.
We first found our home that way, my in-laws gave us all a week in this very house. We all coordinated our summer vacations, spent the spring planning the fun we would have, and then all gathered for a great family week of fun! We loved it so much, we bought the house!
Every season is beautiful at the coast, fog can surround you one minute, then sun the next. You never know what to expect, even in the next 10 minutes! Beautiful views and a family friendly house - You can't believe how quiet and beautiful it can be on the California Coast.
Come vacation in Dillon Beach! Our property sits atop a mountain overlooking the beautiful whitewater of the Pacific Ocean and to the other side, Tomales Bay, famous for Hog Island Oysters. Our Dillon Beach vacation property is on a corner at the top of the hill, with both bay and ocean views. From the great room, there are nearly 360 degrees of views.
The coast is just gorgeous no matter what time of year. The weather can be warm or cool, even in the same day! Fog or clear skies, you never really know, but it's all wonderful in our California Beach vacation rental home, Almost Paradise.
A huge deck comes off the kitchen, directly connected to the dining room. The deck has incredible views of the area, a BBQ, and space for quite a few people. Off the deck is a staircase leading to the fully fenced yard, fun for kids and Fido alike. Also on the lower level is a wonderful little hideaway, our greenhouse. You can sit and getaway from it all with a cup of tea, and kids love to dig in the dirt and explore all around.
We have plenty of parking which is usually quite a problem for folks in the Oceana Marin area of Dillon Beach. We can take 4 cars in our driveway, plus one in the garage.
We sleep up to 12 in our 5 bedroom home, with 3 full bathrooms. The house is very big, with most of it being taken up by the great room. We have Dish TV, a Wi-Fi network, DVD and VHS players and movies, and a wonderful library collection of books in almost every room.
This is one of the largest, and most comfortable vacation homes Dillon Beach has to offer. Kitchen is a chef designed cooking heaven. There is an antique chopping block, microwave oven, stove and a huge over-sized fridge with side freezer.
Walk along the hilltop to the end of the street for some of the best hiking in West Marin. Or head down the hill to spend the day at one of the best beaches in Northern California - the only dog friendly beach I know of, as well as the only one I know that will allow BarBQue's, wine and fire pits. Watch fog roll into Bodega Head from this stunning Dillon Beach vacation rental!
Head down to the beach for a BBQ, and watch lovely sunsets. Walk along looking for seashells, bird watching, and just smelling the great ocean air. Dillon Beach is a magical place, come see why!
This home is really amazing and gorgeous! It was crafted to be a retirement dream home, so the house is really a step above a lot of the available homes here, yet very comfortable and family friendly. The owners have 7 young grandchildren who often enjoy the beach house. It is also very easy to have a retreat or multi-generational gathering, plenty of room for all, plus most of the main living area is very accessible for anyone with disabilities.

We first stayed at Almost Paradise as renters, in the summer of 1999. Our family had always held a family reunion at Tahoe, but that year decided on the beach. It was love at first sight! We spent a lovely week, our first visit to Dillon Beach, and by the end of the week, we had decided to buy. We were living in Santa Rosa at the time, and continued to rent it out as a vacation rental. However, after a year, we decided to make the Beach House our permanent home. We moved out to Dillon in August 2000, and began renovating and remodeling in 2001. We lived there full time until 2006, when life brought us to Orange County. We now enjoy sharing our home again and hosting families, couples and groups in what we consider to be the most beautiful place on earth! We know you will enjoy your visit.
Lori purchased this house in 1999
Dillon Beach is a magical place. Many people have come here to heal from injury, bond with their families, and enjoy the beauty of Dillon Beach's landscape. There is indeed an energy that can be felt upon arrival, and when we visited this town for the first time years ago for a family reunion, we felt it, and decided to move here.
Almost Paradise is a comfortable family home, decorated with our collections of antiques, art, quilts and books. Yet, we are perfectly set up for kids and teenagers, as well as a corporate retreat group.
We encourage you to use our collection of dishes and glassware to enjoy a beautiful dining experience. Or, you can just as easily bring paper plates and still enjoy the beauty of the home.
Relaxing on top of a mountain overlooking the Bay and the ocean is an experience in and of itself. With an incredible beach just down the hill, leisurely walks in the neighborhood, and great hiking just a block away, this house serves the needs of all who enter.
There is enough room in the house for everyone to have their own space, or gather all together in the Great Room area or the deck. We even have a crazy 'Dr. Suess' spiral stairway down to the lower level where there are 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom and a family room.
This house has a gorgeous view and lots of common areas. We hosted our own wine and cheese hour every evening to watch the sunset. Very comfy location to seek refuge from the fog! One of the upstairs bedrooms is pretty small, but there are lots of toys so we guessed it would be great if we had more kids and less adults next time. Which will probably be the case! We had a great week.
The rental home is fairly large, and it has a nice view of the water. It's not far from the beach, which has great access for dogs off-leash. You'll see a lot of wildlife in the neighborhood, including deer and rabbits. Even so, there were aspects of this vacation home that our family found unsatisfactory:
--The stairs between the two levels is a very steep, narrow, circular set of stairs. One of our families didn't want their young daughter using the stairs, so they stayed upstairs. Similarly, one member of our family is a senior citizen who would have had a great challenge using the stairs, so she also had to stay upstairs. It's really a poor design for very young children, older folks, and anyone with disabilities or mobility issues.
--The first day we were there, water leaked from the refrigerator. I reported it to the owner, who said they couldn't get anyone out to fix it. So we spent the week with wet, smelly towels on the floor.
--The house itself hasn't been well-maintained. The exterior hasn't been painted in years, and looks drab (esp. compared to the neighboring houses). The front fence is falling in, and there were exposed long, sharp screws sticking out where the wood had fallen off. The back patio doesn't look that nice, either, and the "greenhouse" in the back yard has been allowed to fall apart into a state of semi-ruins. Some people might call this "rustic," we call it poorly-maintained.
--Because the house is so close to the coast, there is high humidity from the coastal fog and marine layer. Thus, parts of the house smelled like mold/mildew, and there were dark, moldy spots above the shower stall upstairs. The walls/ceilings inside of the house don't appear to have been thoroughly cleaned and/or painted in a long time.
--The shower/bath section of the master bedroom upstairs wasn't really functional, so the family in that bedroom had to use the other upstairs shower along with the rest of us. That master bathroom also was missing a toilet paper holder from the wall.
--The blinds in the bedroom behind the kitchen did not raise or lower properly.
--The thermostat for the main area upstairs is ancient, and you can't even read the adjustment knob to see temperature settings. When you do turn on the heat, the heater near the dining room makes a lot of noise.
--One of the dining room chairs has a broken/bent leg that is dangerous to use.
Overall, this vacation home was not well-maintained.
My family of ten celebrated our 60 years of marriage at Almost Paradise. There was more than enough room for all of us to be comfortable, while maintaining a feeling of coziness. The views are exquisite, the kitchen is a chef's dream, and our great granddaughter loved peeking into all the nooks and crannies. The younger members of the family went on hikes and we all went cheese tasting in nearby areas. A weekend to remember.
This was a great place for our extended family to celebrate our Christmas in January. The house holds our family just right. The kitchen is perfect for all the cooks and plenty of seating at the dining table. The view is wonderful and plenty of room inside on rainy days. We hope to return in 2018 as we alternate with Lincoln City in Oregon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in your home, which allowed us to have our family of ten under one roof. It was the perfect home to be together and also to find private space for those times when the group experience needs a rest. The kitchen and dining area were wonderful for preparing and sharing our meals together. The great room was a wonderful space to do craft projects, read and converse around the fire. We had one glorious, but chilly, day on the beach and a few invigorating walks in the rain. It was a splendid setting and allowed us to create a memorable celebration to ring in the start of the winter season together. Thank you.
Our family had such a great time together for my father's 70th birthday. He was able to spend it with his grand kids and spend it at the beach his two favorite things. Thank you so much for the perfect place for our families to spend time together and hike, play at the beach and just relax.
My husband & I chose Almost Paradise to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary with our family & friends. We had such a great time we never wanted to leave. The house was very comfortable with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, living room & dining area for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. The outside deck had a BBQ & room enough to sit & enjoy the georgous sunsets & spectacular views of Tomales Bay. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate. Thank you Lori for sharing your place with us. This is one anniversary we'll never forget!
Dillon Beach is a beautiful Dog Friendly Beach, and no leashes are needed at water's edge. You can have fires on the beach which is not allowed elsewhere. There are great rocks to climb at the shoreline, and tide pools to explore as well. We provide a free beach pass for our renter's use. Have fun exploring the bay with a visit to Lawson's Landing. There is an entrance fee. Fish or crab from the pier, or dig for clams.
World famous wineries are not far, just over 30 minutes will take you into Sebastopol and loads of small, fun wineries along the Gravenstien Highway. Bodega Bay is a beautiful drive along the Bodega Highway, where you can explore the marina, or golf at a world famous championship course.
Investigate the charming town of Petaluma, where you can go antiquing, shop at interesting shops, and find a great place to dine. A fun drive is along the Tomales Bay Road, down to the quaint town of Pt Reyes Station. Not far from there is the lighthouse, and places where you can pull over to the side of the road to see the Sea Lions bathing on the rocks.
The small town of Tomales has a great restaurant, The William Tell, and without a doubt the world's best bakery. Buy local cheeses at Diekman's Store. There are two old churches in town, the Catholic Church overlooks Highway 1, and the Presbyterian is just up the road.
