It was cozy and warm. The cottage had everything we would need and was clean. My family would definitely visit again.
Back to the Basics of Simplicity
If you're looking for a place to strip away all the "excess" and return to the basics of nature and spending quality time with family - this is the place. My 6 year-old daughter was disappointed at first when she realized there was no Disney Channel (1st world problems) but then quickly discovered the loft area and her imagination filled any "void". The living area/kitchen was open enough we could fit a pack n' play for my 14 month old daughter to sleep in and still have room to move around. The layout of the cabin was smart and utilized simplicity but functionality. I did think to myself that if I were a larger person, the shower might be a little tight though. The proximity of this cabin to Max Patch was perfect (15 minute drive up a winding mountain) and the view in person was more beautiful than pictures can ever depict - despite wind and frigid temps that had moved in unexpectedly with a cold front.
It did take a few hours of travel time round-trip but we made the trek back to Asheville to hop on the Blue Ridge Parkway for beautiful views. The old barns in and around the community of the cabin were beautiful to look at also! I'd note that there is no option to make a "quick run" to pick up something that you may forget at home that isn't a generic need. The cabin was well stocked with basics you'd need like toilet paper or cooking ware as well as items to enjoy the quietness of the hills like a hammock or wood for a bonfire. But - if you needed something like a specific medicine or a specialty brand of drink...it'll be close to an hour drive to possibly find to purchase. Our only "bummer" was that the gas logs were not working and it would have been really nice to have been able to come in and warm up more quickly, especially with the little ones. Overall I would happily stay here again if we were going with the same goal in mind of hiking the area or wanting to "get away from it all".
Thank you for your kind and generous review. Really glad you all had a good time at the cabin and surrounding country but very sorry the gas log stove went down around the time you were there. Could not find components to fix the old stove in short term but was able to get a replacement that seems to be working great. Thanks again for your review.
Beautiful, surrounded by nature, peaceful.
This cabin is everything we looked for. Well furnished, the moment we walked in we fell at home. Big yard and chairs by the creek helped us relax in peaceful surroundings. Close to trails and fantastic views.
The best place to rest and relax in the NC mountains
Very clean cabin, very quiet; owners are nice persons, and Asheville and the region absolutely superb.
Great place and beautiful scenery
Property was clean, efficient, and had everything we needed.
Beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful oasis!
We absolutely loved this cabin. Clean, well-stocked, and charming. The trout stream was so relaxing to hear burbling through the windows and our kids loved playing in it. Hikes in the area were perfect for our young kids, not too strenuous, but great views. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed for our stay.
15 minutes to Appalachian Trail and Max Patch Bald. Many hiking trails in the area. 20 minutes to Hot Springs with restaurants, shops, spa and festivals
