This oceanfront suite is located just steps from the sand...The beach is clean, sandy, and amazingly private! In long walks, you will encounter very few other folks... The suite is tiled throughout, with the new bath being tiled floor to ceiling. The hot water is provided by a water heater with a tank, not instant hot, meaning that you have a lot of hot water right now. The kitchen is totally furnished, including stove, fridge, coffee maker, and instant hot and cold bottled water. Microwave, Osterizer, and toaster, too!
The queen bed is top of the line 'pillow top', for restful sleeping while listening to the soothing ocean sounds...There is a sitting area with easy chairs and a glass-topped dining table which views the breaking waves. You can sit in bed and watch the waves break, too! Your private patio has a table and four chairs. You can walk off the patio and be wiggling your toes in sand in five paces.
From there you can walk miles in either direction. We are located near a hospital and several pharmacies. Your parking is totally protected. We live on the property, and we also employ another couple who provide services that are needed. You can walk along the beach for 30 minutes and arrive in fun-filled Montanita. To keep you in touch with the world, we also provide DirecTV with HBO, CNN Int'l, Fox News, and a huge number of entertainment channels...WiFi is also available...
Continuing onshore breezes keep you cool and we believe, are responsible for no mosquitoes since 2008!

We are Bob & Roxanne, and we have lived on the property since 2007. Since moving from Oregon, we feel that we have found the perfect retirement on the Beach in Ecuador. You can find out all you want to about our adventures, by Googling Bobnrox Ecuador. If you have questions, please fire away, we are glad to answer!!!
Bob & Roxanne purchased this apartment in 2010
We have been living here since 2007...The new suite is the lower floor our our personal house. It fronts directly on the beach, while we are a level up. We love this location, and we thought that other folks would enjoy sharing our experience. The suite was completed in November of 2010.
We are happy to respond personally to your inquiries, and we try to do so within 60 minutes.
The absolute best benefit is the proximity to a wonderful, clean and virtually unused beach. The sand is right at the edge of your private patio. Your suite is absolutely private. We live here, and are always glad to share our experiences with guests.
What type of vacation meets you needs? Do you want a private, peaceful retreat where you can focus on the deep blue sea? Are you adventurous and want to explore all that coastal Ecuador has to offer? Party animal? Foody? Yoga buff? All of these types of vacations (and more) can be found at Bob and Roxanne's lovely rental.
My husband and I stayed in the Alta suite for two weeks in June. As previous reviewers have noted, the suite has all your needs. It is clean, well designed, and if you can pull yourself away from the perfect ocean view, cooking in the well stocked kitchen was a delight as we watched the spectacular sunsets each evening. The bed was comfortable, and we kept the windows constantly open to hear the crashing waves and feel the constant ocean breeze. We were never hot, and there were no bugs. The beach is clean, private and large. We walked every morning and usually saw only a handful of people on our walks.
But the most important detail that is included in this vacation rental is the expertise and connection with Bob and Roxanne. They are both highly sensitive to your vacation needs. They seem to know when you need a ride somewhere, and can help you with taxis or buses, or when you may need to be left alone. They were so kind and their knowledge of Ecuador was invaluable to us. The minute I asked about where to purchase a panama hat for my husband, Bob immediately offered to take us to the next town the following day. Bill now has a snappy new panama hat!
Montantita is a close walk and has many nice restaurants. We visited several coastal towns and enjoyed museums, aquariums, restaurants, and a tour package to Isla de la Plata. We actually got to see several whales on one of our tours and snorkled with sea turtles!
The people of Ecuador were friendly and kind. Many tried to help us with our minimal knowledge of their language, and we got along fine with our broken Spanish. My husband and I always felt safe as we traveled around. We never saw any panhandlers or people who pushed you to buy their tourist treasures. The locals really appreciate your business.
Whatever you are looking for in a vacation, staying with Bob and Roxanne is a great home base. Thanks to Bob and Roxanne's kind hospitality, we experienced the vacation of a lifetime. We will return to Ecuador again, and we will stay with Bob and Roxanne again as well.
We stayed in the Alto suite on the beach and really enjoyed our stay. Bob and Roxanne were great hosts. The place was clean and there was coffee and fruit plus 2 nice cold beers waiting in the fridge for us when we arrived. Bob was always ready and willing to drive us wherever we needed to go. The beach was perfect for walking and the water was a great temperature. We would definitely stay here again.
Mary and I had the pleasure of staying with Bob and Roxanne for the months of February and March this year. This was our third trip in as many years to Ecuador trying to escape the deep freeze of a Nebraska winter and the third year that we've enjoyed their hospitality. We rented the Baja Suite and as usual it provided us with everything one would need. The Kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is beautifully tiled with an abundance of hot water. Fresh drinking water is always delivered, the veranda is huge with hammocks and outside dining, super sunsets right on the Pacific, great beach that goes on for miles, fresh fish and shrimp, beautiful secure grounds. Bob and Roxanne provide all paper products for the suite as well as making available laundry facilities and supplies. They are a wealth of local and Ecuadorian knowledge and are more than willing to help you with any question or problem you might have. The suite is located in the small town of Manglaralto, and is a 50 minute walk on the beach, or a short cab ride, to the town Montanita. Montanita is a popular beach destination for locals and tourists alike and there are a wide variety of shopping and dining options available there. I would recommend Bob and Roxanne to anyone who wanted to enjoy a quiet time in a beautiful setting.
We had booked the Alta suite (unit above the garage) for four weeks from mid-Jan. to mid-Feb., 2016 in large part based on the reviews of others staying at this rental. On arrival, we were immediately disappointed with the general condition of the suite. Although neat, tidy and tastefully decorated it definitely had a ‘dated’, ‘weathered’ and ‘well-used’ feel to it; it was not brand new and was well past its prime. To be fair, the host and hostess (Bob and Roxanne) were accommodating, very helpful and responsive to any requests we had (e.g., they promptly replaced the broken floor fan and provided potable water). However; their response to our first Trip Advisor review (a generous 4 out of 5) was totally inappropriate and they demanded we either give them a 5 out of 5 or remove our rating. We removed our review and now seriously question the veracity of all previous reviews. We knew in advance there was no air conditioning but we were unprepared for how uncomfortable this might be; so we find no fault with the host/hostess on this particular matter. Regardless, we left after two weeks because the unit was simply too hot and humid with insufficient air flow for us. The supplies and accoutrements (e.g., kitchen utensils, pans, bowls, glasses and dishes, laundry facilities) were very basic and the unit was not as clean as we had hoped for (e.g., one kitchen drawer had greasy pans with many small bugs crawling on them). The main screen door had a tear in it and the propane tank for the BBQ was so rusted I was concerned about its safety. All-in-all we were disappointed and our initial rating of 4 out 5 was very (i.e., too) generous.
If you are thinking about traveling to Ecuador for a holiday for the first time, we can explicitly say this is the place you want to stay!!. Bob and Roxanne are the perfect hosts. They are extremely knowledgable about Ecuador. They will help and explain how to get around very safely and cheaply. They reside on the property and are there for what ever you need, yet provide you with all the privacy you want. When we first arrived in Ecuador we landed in Guayaquil. Our main luggage did not arrive. Bob drove in the next day to Guayaquil to pick it up. That is a two and a half hour drive one way.
When we landed Jorge, their - taxi driver picked us up at the airport. If you want to practice your spanish he is the person to try it with. Very safe driver and we used him numerous times.
The suite we stayed in at Bob and Roxanne's was extremely clean, spacious and well decorated. A fabulous view from the balcony where we would sit every night and watch the magnificent sunsets. You can not get any closer to the beach. We had cooking facilities which we used because the shrimp and fish was so cheap and freshly caught each day. The beach was beautiful to walk on. We would walk every morning and late afternoon. They probably have 20 km of beach. The beach is extremely clean and easy to walk on. The waves are very big and fun to play in.
The rental suite is located in a small town called Manglaralto. It has a hospital, a nice restaurant, two pharmacies and numerous little stores that provides all your basic food and drink needs. The people are very gentle and friendly. Always have a smile and willing to help if you have any questions. We felt very safe and relaxed the whole time. Montanita is a 40 minute walk on the beach from Manglaralto. Montanita is a busy surfing, touristy town which has tons of restaurants, shops, hotels and hostels. A fabulous party and nightclub scene in the evenings.
We wanted to explore Ecuador while we were there. They were very helpful. They made sure we always knew where to catch the bus and which one to take. The main mode of transportation is buses and taxis. They are extremely cheap and very efficient.
We stayed for a month at their place and were not ready to come home. "That says a lot". It was our first trip to Ecuador and have already decided that this is where we want to spend our winters. We are planning on coming back next year for three months. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
If you are looking for a private beach getaway in Ecuador, and love the idea of going to sleep with the sounds of waves crashing just feet from your room, you have found your little piece of paradise at Baja Suite. Walk out the front gate of this private compound and grab a taxi. Five minutes later you're in the heart of party central Montanita, where you'll find a large variety of restaurants and entertainment, including street vendors & artists selling their handmade jewelry and more, at a fraction of their worth. Party as hard or easy as you like and then 5 minutes later you're back to your perfect quiet beach getaway with beautiful sunsets. If you are going to Montanita, book this "true find" well in advance. This is where you want to stay and there are only two suites. A perfect day is walking on the beach to central Montanita for lunch (only 30 min.), and then walking back in time to catch the Pacific sunset. We will never forget our time well spent at this beautiful place, and the warm welcome from Bob and Roxanne, incredible hosts who went out of their way to make us comfortable! Ginger & John

Walk on the beach through bathtub warm water, while collecting a wide variety of pretty shells and rocks...
Take a lounge or beach chair out on the beach, set up an umbrella, sip a beverage, read a great book, and get a tan to make you neighbors jealous.
