Spotless charm and country comfort is what you get at Bear Foot Hideaway. Located in a family oriented community in BOONE, a short stroll from the meandering New River, this ONE+ ACRE authentic log cabin has all the conveniences you could ask for, complete with a rustic atmosphere and adorable country bear theme. Bring the kids and swim and tube on our river, hike our trails and bike our railroad grade roads alongside the New River. The cabin is striking with vaulted pine LOG WALLS and exposed-beam CATHEDRAL CEILINGS. Comfy seating and gorgeous mountain views through the huge windows and doors. Enjoy the STONE WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACE or play Foosball, pool, ping pong or darts. The fully-equipped kitchen has a large breakfast bar and dining area. 2 WRAPAROUND DECKS for dining & grilling, Adirondack chairs and gliders with plenty of seating to enjoy the sounds of the river and drink in the mountain views. Bird-watching is a favorite activity from the decks. All 4 bedrooms are charming and spacious.

A PRIVATE sunken SPA is located on the lower deck for you to enjoy after a day of hiking, skiing and mountain activities. Have a real outdoor campfire or cookout in the FIREPIT.

Very private community, but close to all activities. 7 miles to App State

River Community: Bearfoot Hideaway is in a private family oriented river community with river access, and maintained river walks.

Nature at its best: Relax and enjoy the gorgeous views or watch the birds and woodland animals from one of our huge wrap around decks, or while soaking in our sunken hot tub. Then dry off and warm yourself by our outdoor firepit, or our stone fireplace.

if you are so inclined, please feed the birds and hummingbirds with the food we have in the cabin.

Underground Power lines: Bearfoot Hideaway is located in a community with underground power lines! The benefit if which is that the cabin does not have power outages when the weather is inclement, as other homes in the area experience frequently. During the blizzard of '09 when 88% of Watauga county was powerless, (some for more than 4 days), Bearfoot Hideaway did not experience even one split second of power loss.

We also provide free long distance calling and trash pickup which is something you will NOT find in most cabins in the mountains.

*PLEASE NOTE, valid phone number and email required for all inquiries. Please check your entries before submitting. Because I do not take a security deposit, a credit card will be required for security authorization before check in. The owner will contact you for that directly. A person 25 years of age or older must be the responsible party and must be in attendance in the cabin.

About Trish

As 2 business professionals, we never had time to destress, until we purchased our cabin 'Bear Foot Hideaway'. I am an avid gardener and birdwatcher, and my husband loves to hike. The crisp clean mountain air and nature sounds from the woods around our cabin make us feel as if we escaped the world. The starlit sky at night is only overshadowed by the June fireflies or the roaring fire we build in our outdoor firepit. Bear Foot Hideaway is our piece of heaven in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Trish purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Trish chose Boone

We fell in love with our log cabin the moment we walked onto the deck. The mountain views and authentic log construction was exactly what we were looking for.

What makes this cabin unique

We love mountain biking and hiking along the Blue Ridge. Summer is a great time for tubing on our very own New River. Living far away, it is not so easy staying on top of it, but I take TLC of my garden whenever we get a chance to be there, and the flowers are absolutely GORGEOUS! The Autumn is also a favorite time of year to be in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The changing leaves of Fall, along with the cooler temperatures makes for a heavenly getaway. From the time the first snowflake falls, until late March skiing, Boone is a winter wonderland. There are Arts & Crafts Festivals all year long.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks again for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family. The cabin was extremely clean and well-stocked. The location was also great. It was somewhat secluded while still being close enough to shopping/activities. There was so little traffic by the house that our children were able to sled in the roadway by the house.

We would definitely rent this house again!

Wonderful location for a weekend with family!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Bearfoot Hideaway for my nephew's graduation weekend from Appalachian State. The cabin gave each family a separate living area and there was plenty of room for our family game nights! The cabin is very close to Boone and the university. We loved our experience!

Very enjoyable stay!

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful experience with our stay. Arrived after dark but the directions we had in our packet were perfect and we found the house with no problems. Our children loved the game room!! Wonderful views from the back deck. The leaves were beautiful! We were close enough to Boone and Blowing Rock to get to all the things we wanted to do during our stay. Parking is somewhat limited. We had only one vehicle and had no trouble but would have been tight if we had multiple vehicles. Would certainly stay again!

Very nice, clean house with well equipped kitchen.

  • 4 of 5

The house is very clean as is every bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked and organized which was important because we cooked a lot of our meals at the cabin. The parking was very limited but we managed okay with one large SUV and 2 smaller cars. We enjoyed the porch and the views of the changing leaves off the back. We would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a large house for any type of family gathering.

Fantastic spot, with mountain views, hot tub and loads of room

  • 5 of 5

Pat and I and 3 other couples spent the weekend and enjoyed every moment. Several of us were in town for the Blood Sweat and Gears bike race and loved the ability to relax in the hot tub after. We used the fire pit and roasted smores one night. Parking is cramped for four vehicles but that is not unusual for mountain homes and is certainly not the owner's problem. Trish, the owner, was very accommodating.

Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

Bearfoot Hideaway is truly our home away from home! My family and I have used this cabin as our own personal refuge for years and our favorite family memories have taken place between those walls. Trish (the owner) is a delight to work with and is very accommodating. There is a whole floor full of fun for the kiddos, and a nice relaxing large main floor for the adults. The best of both worlds. Oh, and don't forget about the hot tub with mountain views. Although, many might only think of Boone to be a place to visit in the Wintertime, this cabin and area have SO much to offer every season of the year. We love it so much our daughter plans on getting married in area this Fall! Thankfully, we have our go-to home away from home to accommodate us that weekend!
