Where to begin - brilliant! lovely comfortable yet stylish décor, this home is clean and, inviting, sheets smelt lovely and clean. Debbie was fantastic. Situated ideally. And if you love snow this is the place for you. The only downside is that now I have discovered this place its hard not to daydream about going back. Silver lake house don't go changing. :)

Wonderful home, gorgeous views, terrific owner, what more can you ask for?

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week on Silver lake in October 2015. For many years, we have been renting lake houses in New England in the fall and this was definitely our favorite of all time. The house itself is charming, tastefully decorated, open, sunny and immaculate. All details have been considered and so our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The views from the main living areas and the wraparound deck are spectacular and we were fortunate to be there at the perfect time in one of the prettiest autumn seasons in a while, although I imagine all seasons there are beautiful. The grounds are extensive, lovely and well maintained. While we did not try water sports at this time of year, there are kayaks, paddle boat and a convenient dock as well as chairs, a hammock and a fire pit. We enjoyed the centrally located fireplace almost every night and lots of wood was conveniently stacked by the house. We cooked in most nights and found the kitchen to be well equipped. Beds were comfortable with end tables and lights you could actually read by on both sides-- something you hardly ever find. The Barnard General store is close by and great for breakfast and lunch and the beautiful town of Woodstock restaurants, groceries, shops and galleries is a 15 minute drive away. Best of all was Debbie the owner, who was so friendly, helpful and responsive. We have rented from good owners before, but Debbie is in a class by herself, definitely more than 5 stars! She checked in frequently, responded to questions so quickly and made great suggestions. We would definitely rent there again and bring friends or family. It was a 5 star experience.

Truly the best spot on Silver Lake!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a property!!! I have been coming to the Woodstock/Barnard area for years and finally wanted to be in a place where my dogs would be as welcome as I was. This place blew me away. Great view of Silver lake -- which the dogs could swim in, open floor plan, all the creature comforts and what a yard! I give this house and owner (Deb) the highest recommendation. This truly is the best location on Silver Lake!

Exquisite!

What an amazing place! This was our first time in Vermont, and we absolutely loved it! The lake house was amazing! It was so nice to visit areas around Vermont, and then come back to relax at the house with beautiful views of the lake and to be able to take the kids kayaking or pedal boating. They also loved just walking in the water, looking for rocks! It was so peaceful and relaxing! Just what we needed! The house has so much character and attention to detail, even with the lovely glasses and serving trays! Debbie was so professional, attentive, but also personable, really wanting us to enjoy our time at her lovely home and in Vermont. While we were there, we really enjoyed the little, authentic general store within walking distance. Woodstock was a quaint, little town. You have to try to homemade ice in the little store next to the pharmacy. It was so good! The guy goes in at 6:30am and makes all the ice-cream himself! Their food is great also! We also loved Billings farm, touring the farm managers house, and touring the Billings-Rockefeller house! It was beautiful and full of history! We went to sugarbush farms and got to do some cheese tasting, going up to 8 years old! We traveled through the Vermont National park, and went over to the Morgan horse farm. The views were breathtaking! This was the perfect place to get away from our hectic lives, and have some time to just enjoy the peace and beauty of the surroundings! I wish I could go back today! (: Thank you again Debbie for sharing your lovely home with us!

What a wonderful place to stay in Vermont!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful property to stay at for the Covered Bridges Half Marathon. It was perfect for two couples. The house and property was everything and more of what we expected. The house was very nicely decorated and had all the amenities of a great vacation property. The people at the General Store were so nice and friendly, that we felt welcome and at home.

Breakfast at the General Store was a real treat. Dinmer at The Barnard Inn was great.

Debbie, the owner, was very helpful and attentive.

I would recommend this for families or couples. I would love to come back again with the family. There are lots of things to do there, with kayaks and paddle boats. The lake is beautiful.
