Overview

Historic District - South House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

This unique and one of a kind house will be featured on the HGTV and GAC shows 'You Live in What?' in 2015. It was built in 1861, originally as a residence, with wood siding and the entrance facing Jones Street. Around the turn of the century, it was converted to a grocery store, stuccoed, and the front door was moved to the corner, like many of the businesses in the Landmark Historic District. It remained a grocery until 1980 and then was converted back to a residence, although the door remained at its present location on the corner.

The house is located on Jones Street, which is reputed to be the most beautiful street in Savannah. You are within walking distance of everything in the Landmark Historic District, and only blocks from Clary's, Mrs. Wilke's Dining Room, the Firefly Cafe, and the Mercer House.

The house is very open and surprisingly spacious inside, with a very large modern kitchen, which is open to the living and dining area. Be a couch potato, while watching the wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV. Or enjoy your favorite program or movie while preparing a meal in the totally renovated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.

The bedroom is separated from the living area by sliding glass panels. The bathroom is large and has a jetted shower.

Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in your cozy private landscaped courtyard.

This house is very comfortable for one or two adults, and up to two younger children, or three adults only. It is not suitable for two couples. If your group consists of two couples, I would suggest booking a property that has two bedrooms.

This house is pet friendly for an additional fee. However, due to insurance restrictions, certain breeds of dogs, any dog whose lineage contains a part of that breed, or any dog with a previous bite or attack history, are not allowed on the premises. The following dog breeds are named, but not limited to:

American Pit Bull

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Rottweiler

Doberman Pinscher

Chows

Keywords: Unique house, fully equipped, with open floor plan and cute courtyard

Historic with a modern touch.

  • 5 of 5

The house was amazing and everything I hoped. This was my first time renting a home and the first time in Savannah. I was a little nervous going outside if my comfort zone but glad i did. The home was exactly as described and within walking distance to the historic district. The neighborhood was safe we never felt uncomfortable. Parking was easy to find close to the house even on the street sweeping days. We didn't use the kitchen much but it was fully stock with pans, bowls and plates. I make use of the coffee maker every morning and it was nice she had stuff there already to use.

The washer and dryer came in handy during our stay. The patio was very private and surprisingly quiet. We loved our vacation and would definitely recommend staying at Betty's place.

Historical Cottage with up to date amenities

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cottage! Loved the history of the building given to us by the owner and the location afforded an easy walk to the city sights. Beautifully decorated and very clean. While in Savannah take an architectural tour. Well worth the time and money. Corleone's Italian Restaurant easily won best food for the week. Highly recommend Betty's home!

Perfect Honeymoon Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife & I could not have found a better place to stay for our Honeymoon than the house on the corner of Jones Street. It is so cozy and has anything and everything to make your stay perfect. On top of all the great amenities it has to offer, it also has the most quaint little courtyard in the back which is perfect for morning cups of coffee. I could go on and on about this perfectly updated little gem.

The other great part of this destination is the owner. Betty will go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. She even had a little surprise waiting for us as she knew this was our honeymoon trip. She met us at the house when we arrived and even texted a couple times to see if everything was going okay. Betty is fantastic.

If you're looking for the perfect getaway for you & your significant other, then look no further than the house on Jones Street.

Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent our 45th wedding anniversary in Savannah. The house was perfect and Betty, although out of town during our stay, made every effort to see our visit went smoothly. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, but close enough to walk to the sites of Savannah. The photos do not do justice to the property and we would recommend this location to anyone. Parking is readily available on the street in front of the house and we have absolutely no complaints about our stay. We frequently stay in rentals around the country and this house ranks with the best.

Delightful Savannah home

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Betty's home. She contacted us often to ensure that we had all the details for the home and was perfect for a couple. It was clean, and equipped well with all the things needed to prepare our meals. The close proximity to the downtown area and historic district made it so easy to walk to our destination.

We would definitely stay at this home again. Thank you, Betty for your warm hospitality.
