About David Hopp

I am a 2nd. Generation Master Builder, Architect, and a very happy father to Kylie.

I began my career very early under the mentor-ship of my father, Robert Hopp. I started working with my father at an early age, always knowing I would grow up to design and build the best and most beautiful homes, remodels and additions possible.

Bob, as most people called him, had a very strong work ethic. He took a great deal of pride in the work he did for others, always putting forth his best efforts and treating people fairly. Whether it was building a bench or turning out a 100,000+ sq. ft. industrial complex, his “do it right & get it done” attitude built him a reputation that preceded his arrival on the job site that wasn’t measured in minutes, but by miles.

Clients who hired him knew in advance that when he made them a promise, he fulfilled that promise. And what I remember, most of all is that he loved it. Every minute of it! He loved the challenge of “getting it done - on time, and done right.” He was gregarious and hard working, almost to a fault. He loved to entertain. Current events, political commentary, and conversation were probably second only to his love of the written word. And his love for the written word was eclipsed only by the love we saw demonstrated towards Lois, his wife and my mother. He did so much for his family, and friends. Because his parents left this world when he was still very young, he understood, first-hand, how important family is, what it means to have one, and be part of it. As it is said, “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree,” and I gleaned many wonderful attributes from working with dad.

These are the cornerstones, from which I fashion my life, the business, and fatherhood.

Outdoor mountain sports, woodworking, and poetry are my avocations.

Why David Hopp chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

This is our home, in North Lake Tahoe, and after 30 years of living in Tahoe, it was the ambiance of this community that captured our hearts, and its proximity to ALL the activities in which we like to participate.

What makes this lodge unique

A unique connection to ALL of life through the unparallel home's finishes, artwork, hand-crafted furniture, and poetry created by the owner, and what lies beyond the doors of this home and its superb location.

Great getaway home!

  • 5 of 5

Well our experience in Lake Tahoe was fabulous. David's home was everything as advertised and more. We really felt like we were in a vacation home, inside and outdoors. Perfect layout for spending time with your family. In a great location in Tahoe Vista, close to numerous restaurants, a supermarket, quiet neighborhood and just a few blocks from the beach and great hikes. Location was better than I imagined. The attention to detailing of the entire property was evident the moment we arrived. The property is clearly well maintained and ready for us to enjoy immediately. We were greeted by the homeowner and he gave us a great tour of the house and amenities. Simply a beautiful mountain home I'm sure you would enjoy as much as we did!

I want to make this my second home!

  • 5 of 5

Words, and to an extent pictures, can't convey how beautiful this home truly is. If you appreciate good design and fine touches, this is the perfect retreat for bringing loved ones together.

The open floor plan is perfect for bringing everyone together for meals. The kitchen with its Viking range is a foodies playground. I thoroughly enjoyed making pancakes, bacon, and eggs on the griddle.

The decor really added to the ambience of being somewhere in the woods, yet home away from home. The fireplace(s) were perfect for keeping us toasty during the snowy stay. All of the amenities and made this place the equivalent of a luxury 5 star hotel suite.

Best of all, the home has toys to entertain three toddlers for the entire stay. Even a playhouse with slide inside!

David, the owner, also spend almost a whole day shoveling snow/ice out of the driveway when we were stuck.

One might complain about the lack of an up-to-date entertainment system (no blue-ray, HD big screen). But if you want a real retreat and some quality time with people, I can see the reasoning for staying low tech. Although he does have wifi.

The only real complaint I have is in how slippery that top stair to the loft is. Even though he warned us multiple times in person and in writing, I still managed to slip not once, but twice, even while holding the handrail. So seriously heed the words of caution.

Despite that, I look forward to a time in the future when I can return for another stay.

Relaxing and Cozy Stay close to everything

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time over the Thanksgiving holiday. The main living area and loft of the home offers an incredible open feeling where one can relax and interact with everyone. The loft has a desk, couch, reading nook and a beautiful view . This was a big hit . The fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom are all controlled by their own thermostat which was very convenient and a nice touch. The home as a true Tahoe feel and the care and quality of the home exceeded our expectations. A regional park is only a short walk from the house and had a small but fun sleigh ride hill for the kids. Several restaurants are close by along with a grocery store, rite aid , coffee house and several other options. One pleasant surprise was the homes proximity to Northstar village. Even with the snowy weather the drive was safe and easy . Although it was very cold we were able to experience the gorgeous view of the lake and even visit the beach as its a very short drive . I highly recommend this home if you want a relaxing, quiet , beautiful home close to beaches and skiing. David was a pleasure to work with and provided a great walk thru and recommended several places to hike and eat which we took full advantage of during our stay. Thank you David for your flexibility on our arrival and opening your home to us
