Beautiful Views, Amazing Staff
This was our second visit to Ko Olina Beach Villas Resort and it was just as memorable as the first! The penthouse view is truly one of the best on the property. Sunrise from the bedrooms and sunsets on the lanai every day. The staff was incredible - We were on the island several hours before check in and they easily accommodated our early arrival. The actual unit is immaculate, updated electronics, air conditioning, subzero fridge, stove top, wine fridge, etc. Anything you may want to take to the beach, they've got it. Snorkels, masks, boogie boards, chairs, beach towels....all there for your use. We took advantage of the resort's beachfront bar - Michelle's mai tai's and smoothies were something we enjoyed daily! The grounds offer every amenity and compared to other hotels in the area, the resort never feels overcrowded. We'll never stay anywhere else when we vacation in Oahu.
Everything promised and more!
What can I say...we walked in to our penthouse unit upon arrival and were greeted by one of the most stunning sunsets we have ever witnessed (and we have lived in both Arizona and Colorado!) A great beginning to what proved to be a family vacation for the record books! We rented three units from this same owner to accommodate our four families and 13 people (including five grand children under the age of four!) My wife and one of our sons stayed in this penthouse unit. The rooms were spacious, and the great room, kitchen, and dining areas served as the evening meeting place for family dinners and entertainment. The kitchen was well stocked, and there were plenty of beach toys, snorkel paraphernalia, and beach chairs to meet our needs. The resort staff was very accommodating, and the owners were extremely easy to work with. My wife is a masters swimmer, and I was skeptical of the "lap pool" amenity touted in the description of the property. To our surprise this quiet area pool gives priority to lap swimmers, and my wife (and I) enjoyed a great workout every morning in a 25 meter pool! The main pool has a designated area for young children with shallow waters and sandy bottom. What we really liked was the fact that this complex is not a busy resort like the neighboring Marriott or Disney Resort. We could enjoy their restaurants, but could get away from the mayhem, and be around a more tranquil environment!! There is an outdoor bar next to the pool where we did enjoy quite a few luscious concoctions! Oh, and did I mention the balcony! We spent many an evening after the grand children were down to recount the special moments of the day! We'll be back!
the place is fantastic; with every amenity possible, great view and lots of extras for the pool and to entertain the kids! plus, the owners were a pleasure to work with and helped to work around our complicated schedule! thx for making our stay so pleasant!!
Great family vacation spot
Family of 5 (2 parents, 1 grand-parent, 2 small kids 4, 6). We really enjoyed our stay here and would happily come back. The resort property is nice several pools and hot tubs and a nice gym. We had to drag the kids out of the pools to get them lagoon beach which is also perfect for small kids. There isn't an onsite restaurant which was not a big deal. We went in Feb and it felt like the resort was only half full, which was great. Mostly families also enjoying vacation.
The condo itself, is excellent. Lots of supplies (boogie boards, sand toys, etc.) and well equipped for cooking and eating in if so inclined. Very well maintained, plenty of room and a killer view.
Ko'olina is a resort community w/ a Marriot, 4 Seasons, Disney resort and golf course. The ABC grocer is a 3 min drive away (walkable in 10 mins) and has the necessary groceries and good prepared foods (poke, sandwiches, breakfast items, etc.). Other than hotel restaurants, there aren't a lot of restaraunt choices in the immediate area, so we commuted into Honolulu most nights. It's a 30-40 min trip both ways, but for our food tastes it was well worth it. Traffic can look grim but it's still on 30-40 mins in or out during rush hr times, which we tried to avoid.
Very nice - relaxing
Everything was as advertised. Can't beat the view. All top end appliances and TV's and we had no problems. Lots of stuff in the bin for the Kids to take to the beach.
We had 2 parking spots - the closest was way too small for anything but the other was right around the corner and we used that. No big deal.
This place is a little crazy about what you put on your balcony. Don't even try and put a towel anywhere that can be seen. We got our 2nd notice on Christmas day at 9:30am which I had a chat with the front desk about because I was out there at 9:30am working on my computer and that pissed me off (they made a mistake). Didn't get another :-)
Quiet pool is actually a kids pool, just keep them quiet and no floating toys. That was nice as it is a very nice pool (warmest). They did enforce the no toys policy, but no problem with quiet kids.
Beach is nice. Protected lagoons are great for little ones and very pretty.
I played a lot of golf. I recommend the 4 plays pre-pay which ends up being $155/round as opposed to $200-225 if you just play. It is a nice course. I had planned on playing elsewhere but too damn easy when I can walk to clubhouse and put in the dark getting 1st time of the day.
I got rained out on 1 day after 4 holes and they gave me my money back. I could tell that wasn't for sure, but it was a *lot* of rain and I was soaked. So I appreciated that :-)
The restaurant in the Marriott was good if you want a change of pace. We stayed away from the Aulani except to tour it at 9pm one night and the pools were still packed. Not for us.
Wifi worked and was able to stream Warriors games from my mac to their big TV via HDMI.
Nice place and thank you to the owners. We enjoyed it.
First time to Oahu
We had a wonderful time at this resort and unit. The resort was quiet and very close to the ocean. We were very happy that we selected the Beach Villas over the nearby busier hotels. The location was very good for us with easy access to Honolulu, the North Shore, and Costco! It was a very relaxing vacation.
