My husband and I bought this home as a second home for ourselves. After two years of looking, we found our dream home! We have loved and shared this home with family and friends and have wonderful memories and look forward to more! We purchased this particular home because we wanted privacy and beach. A place to escape the city, but not so far as we could not escape for a weekend. A place to allow the kids to run, and feel safe. A place to sit, have a glass of wine, a fire on the deck, and enjoy the views. A beach to fish and the kids to build log "huts" out of beach wood. A place where the teens would have an indoor play area and could play thier music and we wouldn't have to listen! A place we could get away by ourselves, or bring family and friends. We hope to share this so everyone can experience beautiful Whidbey Island!
Sam - Property Manager purchased this estate in 1998
Our recent stay at this beautiful Whidbey Island home was wonderful! First of all, the view cannot be beat. We spent every evening on the deck, eating dinner, using the fire pit and just enjoying the expansive views. Our kids also loved the hot tub. The location on the water is ideal. There's a rather steep staircase (128 steps to be precise) to the beach but that did not deter our children, who spent hours there every day playing in the sand. They loved how private it was; had the whole thing to themselves! The home is well appointed; we cooked almost every meal there. The game room in the guest house was an added bonus. The property manager was extremely attentive and easy to work with. I asked about extra blankets and an iron; he brought them by the house himself the next day. All in all, I couldn't ask for more in a rental home and if the opportunity ever presented itself, my family and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
We just returned from an amazing family vacation at this waterfront retreat! The location and setting are perfect! Our best memories are cooking (they have everything!), sitting by the firepit, enjoying the waterfront (birds, boats, cruise ships), hiking down the steep path to the wonderful beach (easy for the young ones) or to the state park next door and driving the short distance to Langley, Coopville, Deception Pass or Ft. Casey.
The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is because the bed and couch hide-a-bed in the guest house should not be used. We used all the beds as we had 12 people with us and the two couples who were sleeping in the guest house were extremely uncomfortable. There are some thick pads you could put on the floor but you would need good sleeping bags or a lot of padding on top of them to be comfortable.
Sam is a very easy manager to work with and we thank him for a magical family vacation! I hope we can return and I am sure he will be replacing the beds!
The first thing I'll say is that the descriptions and photos that the owner has listed are very accurate. We spent last week at this wonderful house with our family - three adult couples and one teenager. Everyone was happy being there. The house is beautiful, the kitchen a great place to cook (we ended up cooking at home more than we had planned because it was so much fun). I think our favorite time of the day turned out to be coming back in the late afternoon and having our cocktails and dinner on the deck, often while observing the resident bald eagle catching fish! I could say a lot more great things about this house, but I'll finish by saying the owner/manager was friendly, helpful and responsive when we had a (minor) problem. It was fixed rapidly. Couldn't have been a whole lot better.
Our family had a wonderful time (6 Adults, 2 children) over Thanksgiving. Sam was a delightful host. The house looked just like the photos with the added plus of a well equipped kitchen, our family loves to cook. The view of the water was incredible. The kids especially liked the game room. We highly recommend the house and will return again.
Our family stayed here over Thanksgiving and walked the rainy beach, played games, and enjoyed the fantastic view. A wonderful place with a very helpful and thoughtful manager. I would certainly recommend it to those who want a sophisticated escape from the city in an elegant home.
We feel a world away when we stay at this beach home! Our family of 5 stay here every year and is our favorite getaway! There is lots of room for us and our friends. There are lots of things to do for the active types from indoor basketball, ping pong, horse shoes, hiking, running, beach combing, and my favorite: fishing! Or we just absorb the sun, a good book and the view from the deck! Our favorite things at night are games, cards, hottubing and sitting around the gas fireplace (After barbequing salmon, of course)! We highly recommend this getaway! I'm sure it'll become one of your favorites as well! Daren.
