RiverSpace is a large, bright private room at one end of a country house. Surrounded by 16 acres of forest and meadow on a quiet country road, this is an ideal location for anyone who wants distraction-free time to write, study, meditate or just get away from it all. Although the ocean is only ten miles away, this is a different climate zone--often sunny and warm when the beach isn't! RiverSpace can be a quiet retreat or home-base for exploring the gorgeous scenery of the Oregon coast. It can be a sanctuary or the starting point for great mountain biking on miles of forest roads. You can sink deep into the natural world, where the only sound is the murmur of the river, the only lights come from the stars overhead, and the air is full of the rejuvenating scent of fir and cedar. However you choose to spend your day, your warm cozy room awaits you--and oh yes, there's a hot tub from which to gaze at the moon! It's quiet and private, a perfect getaway for a few days or more. Well-behaved dogs are welcome--it's a super place for a dog vacation too!

I'm a writer working on a nonfiction local history book. I've lived here for 20 years. I love this area because of the easy access to nature and I have hiked all of the trails and many of the forest roads in the area. I'm happy to share info about things to see and do--and most important: where to eat!
Andrea purchased this studio in 1999
This is my personal residence. RiverSpace, the rental unit, used to be the master bedroom. With its own private entrance, deck area, and access to the hot tub, RiverSpace provides a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting, nestled in the trees but still close to the beach, the little town of Yachats, and great hiking trails. Many of my guests tell me this is a 'sanctuary' where they find tranquility and restoration of mind, spirit, and body. I really enjoy sharing the beauty of this place with others.
Privacy; peace and quiet; natural beauty; wildlife viewing (elk frequently roam across the meadows); places to walk along the river, up on the ridge, or along the country road; easy access to the beach, local shops and restaurants, and various tourist attractions such as the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. After an active day on the beach, you return to a cozy room and a rejuvenating hot tub.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It is about a 15 minute drive from Yachats, but it is a beautiful drive so it never felt that long. There is no telephone (which is noted in the ad) and although there is wifi, the connection was relatively weak. This wasn't really an issue for us as we weren't in the room that much, but a stronger connection would have been nice as we could have used the connection to make phone calls through facebook or skype. The location was gorgeous and had we had more time there we would have probably really enjoyed taking some long walks near the property. Andrea was lovely and her dog Sy was super friendly. The hot tub was a huge plus and we enjoyed it both nights we stayed. We would definitely go back!
We had a lovely stay at Riverspace. It was the perfect getaway after long days at the beach. The space was peaceful and clean, it had everything we needed. Lots of privacy on a piece of beautiful property, which our pup enjoyed exploring. Andrea was great, respectful of our privacy but very welcoming, helpful and friendly. It doesn’t have a full kitchen as described, so we brought our camp stove to use on the deck that worked great for meals we wanted to cook at the house. We will defiantly stay again when we’re back in Yachats! Thanks Andrea.
Andrea's RiverSpace was a great experience! It was cool exploring Yachats and Cape Perpetua during the day and relaxing in the hot tub at night. Andrea was very helpful when we asked her questions and even gave us homegrown strawberries as we were heading out! Thanks for sharing your home and we hope to come back next year for another quiet, relaxing, weekend getaway :)
River Space was as private and relaxing as advertised.
A quiet escape in the woods.
A beautiful drive up Yachats river road, and then you're home in a secluded, tree-shrouded getaway.
We stayed here for our wedding anniversary surrounding Memorial Day weekend. Slept in each morning, then went out for adventures along the gorgeous Oregon coast.
Andrea and her dog Sy are very kind and gentle. She has thought of everything, including complementary coffee, which was very much appreciated. We loved the luxurious hot tub, which was very clean; she takes great pride in maintaining and keeping it that way.
Highlights: We only did free activities, and there were plenty of them! hiked Cape Perpetua.
Great food and live music every night both at The Drift Inn and Luna Fish House.
Explored along the coast, scenic outlooks, we saw a whale! The Haceta Head light house, strawberry beach had a lot of seals to watch. We got pretty close to them.
Local events in Yachats-farmer's market, the craft fair and the ladies' club pie social.
We drove north to Newport one day and saw the sea lions barking on the dock, walked Around the shops, but never made it to the acquarium:
Discovered old town Florence and loved it! Had an enjoyable time there.
Driving along the coast is a treat in itself. Beautiful scenery in God's creation. We explored the beaches, ran around at the dunes, did some geocaching and had a very positive experience with the locals and tourists alike.
Thanks again Andrea! We hope to return and stay in Yachats again someday.
Riverspace is a beautiful property on the Yachats River. A nice, meandering drive from downtown Yachats...just the space we needed for reprieve from busy life. Andrea is friendly and kind and knew just how to walk the line between hostess and giving space/privacy. She was helpful in giving us tips on where to eat (Ona was a nice fancy place and Drift Inn is always good, but we pretty much parked it at the Green Salmon Cafe), look around, etc. The space itself was clean and open, beautiful property view. The hot tub was amazing - clean and works perfectly. The bed was comfortable (I am picky about that!). We will be going back for sure! Highly recommended property and listed accurately/as described!
The property was everything we had hoped for and more. The room doesn't have blinds so the sun wakes you up early, but other than that it couldn't get anymore perfect. There's no stove so we brought some left overs to microwave and ate out which was just fine. Lovely place. The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed.
The central Oregon coast features great choices for activities, from fine dining to mountain biking, shopping to kayaking. The beach is just 15 minutes from the property and many other attractions are just another 10 or 15 minutes away--all along very scenic drives. The Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area offers miles of trails through coastal forests, tidepooling, spectacular views, and an interpretive center full of information (and helpful guides) about this area. There are three lighthouses within a 45 minute drive of the property. Alsea Bay to the north offers fishing, crabbing, clamming, and kayaking--and equipment rentals to support each activity. The bay is a designated Significant Birding Area where you can see eagles, herons, many species of ducks, etc. In the fall, Yachats features the annual Mushroom Festival--or you can just go foraging through the woods to identify and collect an incredible variety of fungi. RiverSpace is on a forest road that connects to a network of gravel roads that are perfect for mountain bikes. The Pacific Ocean is just 15 minutes away, with long sandy stretches of beach and also trails along rocky bluffs where you can see 'spouting horns' of ocean spray--and out to sea you can spot actual whale spouts as the huge marine mammals pursue their annual migrations between Mexico and Alaska. Many guests plan day trips--north takes you to Newport's Aquarium and the Hatfield Marine Center, plus lots of fun restaurants and shops. South takes you to Florence and the remarkable sand dunes, plus more shops and restaurants. And Yachats itself offers plenty of opportunities for shopping and dining--unique businesses where the owner is usually on hand to give you personal attention.
