About April Peterson

April and Jarl Peterson, we have been married for 19 years, and have 3 boys. We love the outdoors and enjoy being in them. We also love to travel and work outside on our property. My husband is a Captain in the fire dept. he works for, and I work in the dental field. Our oldest son is a officer in the army. Our two younger boys are in high school.

April Peterson purchased this cabin in 2008

Why April Peterson chose Packwood

To spend quality time with our family, doing what we love to do. We spend our winters skiing and summers hiking. We like getting our kids away from the city, and enjoying time with nature.

What makes this cabin unique

Love to take the dog for a walk up Tatoosh and let him play in the river. It's a easy fun walk.

Fun Cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with 2 adults and 3 children. The kids LOVED the cabin. They loved the upstairs loft, games available, and the fire pit was a hit. The kitchen was fulled stocked with the pots/pans/utensils needed to cook all of our meals. The beds were comfortable with comfy bedding. We appreciated that we were able to bring our dog. While you're in a neighborhood it was relatively quiet. It was a nice walk to the creek. Packwood was a great place to kick off hiking to Packwood Lake (dog friendly) and to Rainier (which is not). We'd like to go back to visit Mt St Helens.

Overall, I'd recommend this for families. Not if you have very small children (keeping them from climbing the stairs would be difficult).

Memorial weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was awesome! Although it is in somewhat of a "development" it felt very private & woodsy. It was very well equipped and extremely cozy. We will definitely rent this cabin again.

Cute cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend getaway with our adult kids here. Plenty of room for the 5 of us and a small dog, they didn't mind sharing the loft with several comfy beds. The wood stove kept us warm and cozy every day, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals. We had fun playing board games provided in the evening when we weren't hiking. Great location close to Packwood and White Pass. It's an older cabin but in great shape.

Nice cozy cottage

  • 4 of 5

The home is well stocked with everything needed for a cabin vacation stay, and was very clean. Really liked the dining room/living room area with the open ceiling. Lots of games/movies. No neighbors were there and the house is several miles off main road- so very quiet. Nice back area with firepit and chairs/benches. The owner was courteous and responsive.

The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is I'm a light sleeper and there is no soundproofing. I was in the bedroom downstairs and could hear every creak and snore from the upstairs area quite well. I wore earplugs and did fine. The open loft area upstairs can sleep a number of people, but there is only one bathroom for the house- so anything more than four will be a bit cramped.

Made a great base to do some of the amazing day hikes in Mt Ranier National Park.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a a lovely 2 days in this cabin. It was very clean and the kitchen was well supplied. The beds were very comfy and we slept so well in the quiet woods! There are lots of great hikes in the Packwood area and you are very close to Mt Rainer National Park. We are planning on coming back and exploring more. We would certainly stay at this cabin again!

The owners were super helpful and answered all our questions very quickly. We highly recommend this cabin!

Cozy Winter Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great stay over New Year's. We came to Packwood to snowshoe and visit White Pass and the cabin was a great place to relax in the evenings.

For two people and a dog, it was roomy and could easily fit more. The wood stove was great way to warm up after being outside all day. The whole cabin was pretty cold when we arrived, but it warmed up quickly with the fire. The kitchen add all the supplies we needed and there was a great collection of board games. Everything was clean and very comfortable.

It was very easy to make the reservation and the recommendations on where to eat/rent outdoor gear was great.
