About A. Fakhimi

Hello, my name is Alex Fakhimi and I am a dentist living in San Diego with my wife and two children for the last 19 years. I moved here because of the beautiful city and the amazing weather as I'm sure why it is such a hot spot for vacationers. I use VRBO regularly for my own vacations and I know what it takes to offer a high quality house with the best amenities as well as convenience to local attractions, restaurants, etc. I pride myself and my homes to being some of the best you will find on VRBO. All of our guests have been quite pleased for going above and beyond their expectations regarding their stay in our home. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have; and enjoy your stay. Alex,

A. Fakhimi purchased this estate in 2009

Why A. Fakhimi chose Mission Hills

I chose to buy a vacation rental in San Diego because it's where I live, and for families from all over the world to be able to come with their families and friends and enjoy this amazing city, just as my family and I enjoy everyday. In fact I live only a couple of miles away from all of the vacation homes I have in San Diego. I believe it is one of the most beautiful places in the world that you can visit anytime of the year, not to mention the world renowned San Diego Zoo, Sea World, LegoLand, Convention Center, and many more attractions. That's why it is called the "Finest City in Ameria" and 'Sunny San Diego'

What makes this estate unique

Some of the Unique benefits you will enjoy staying at my property are: the panoramic views from the house, the luxury of the house with beautiful decorations, furniture, elegance, privacy, pool, jacuzzi, BBQ, the stunning view from the huge roof top deck, The convenience to all San Diego attractions within a few minutes. Great place

  • 5 of 5

Loved this place. Short walk to Old Town San Diego and a great spot to hole up for a week with your crew. I would definitely try to stay at this property again.

We'd Come Back

  • 4 of 5

If you are thinking of coming to San Diego with a large group, take a look at this property. While not perfect, there is a lot going for it.

What’s to Like

• Just off I 5, and about one mile down the street from Old Town. 10 to 15 minutes to Balboa Park, the zoo and the waterfront; 10 minutes to Sea World and Belmont Park;

• Nicely decorated, up to date house,

• Multi-level roof-top decks and side patio, all with great views

• The beds must be new- not one complaint. We were a party of 12 and everyone slept comfortably

• The back-yard layout (with patio furniture, hot tub and pool) is terrific

• The owner is responsive. While we were there the dishwasher stopped working properly, and it was replaced 1 ½ days later.

What to know

• This home is built on the side of a hill, and the first-floor entry is about 20 steps above the street. This is not a property for anyone with mobility issues

• A few other renters have complained about the noise from I 5 and the airport, which are both visible from the house. If we opened the window or sat on one of the decks, we could hear the road noise or an occasional plane taking off but, even then, we didn’t notice it much. Inside the house, we didn’t notice it at all

• We’ve made a few suggestions to the owner about adding to the kitchen wares and monitoring the housekeeping crew a little more closely, but nothing we suggested was a huge issue for us.

• A few days before we arrived, a neighbor busted the gas line that feeds the pool heater. We learned quickly that it pays to have the pool heat turned on in March. The kids tried the pool once and were in and out in less than a minute. Days there are warm, but the pool really cools off during the night.

If we were doing another family vacation in San Diego, we’d come back to this property in a heartbeat.

Great location, lots of space!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property with another family while our husbands attended conferences at the convention center. We were two families of 4, 4 kids under 4. This house was the perfect amount of space, the pool (which we were glad we paid to have heated in February) was wonderful built in entertainment for both kids and adults. The location can’t be beat. 10 mins from Balboa/Zoo area, right across the highway from the airport. Some previous tenants posted that airport and highway noise was excessive, but we didn’t find that to be the case at all. Yes, you can hear some noise, but it did not keep anyone up at night. Being that we traveled by air we appreciated the beach/pool towels on site as well as a kitchen stocked with utensils and equipment. Our only criticism is that the house seems to need a good deep clean. Some of the drawers in the bedrooms were not able to be used by us because they were full of brochures, TV manuals, cables, wires, and crayons.

Ali, the owner, was very responsive through the booking process and answered any questions we had.

Tips for future travelers-

1. Schedule grocery delivery from Vons, for right after your arrival. It was key with hungry kids and tired parents.

2. When renting a car, only small SUVs and cars will actually fit in the garage. Example- a Ford Explorer did not fit. There is street parking, however.

3. There is a crock pot/slow cooker on site.

Perfect location for first-timers visiting SD! House was good, but...

  • 4 of 5

This is my first review on VRBO, but I'll make it brief.

Pros:

- Location - it's a 10-15 min drive to downtown/airport/SD Zoo/Cabrillo and it's walkable to Olde Towne.

- Very clean house and grounds

- Hot tub heats up in 15 and is user-friendly.

- There is plenty of free street parking

Cons:

- The sound of the highway/airport is actually pretty loud, especially in the living room/anywhere with windows facing the airport/highway. This is coming from someone who sleeps with a fan on for the "white noise" - it's noticeably loud.

- The refrigerator has drawers that are broken and had black particles in the ice.

- Most of the appliances (dishwasher, clothes washer, some light fixtures in bedrooms, hot tub light) did not work well. Example: we rinsed all dishes before putting the in the dishwasher, but when the dishwasher was done, the glasses and plates were peppered with food particles... kinda off-putting.

Overall, it's a very cost-efficient alternative to paying for a resort for a large group and you simply cannot beat the location/proximity to the touristy things, but the appliances and noise prevent it from being 5/5.

Surpassed all our expectations...

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful week with our extended family. Everyone enjoyed your place. We were there for our son's wedding at The Brick Venue....perfect location....well-stocked kitchen for entertaining. Close to the airport...which came in handy as well. The spa with the swimming pool was a big HIT. Plenty of room and privacy. Loved the various decks and outdoor seating areas for lounging and visiting family and friends. It served as a great gathering place for our family dinners.

Noise was abundant outside, but good windows and doors kept it out. We had an exceptional week and your house was the perfect setting for it.
