Overlooking a forest of rare Monterey Pines and a half mile to the spectacular Pacific Ocean, this house is here for you to pause from whatever you do. Take a deep breath of clean fresh ocean air, listen to the sounds of the forest and let your mind wander. Think of it as a place for punctuation in your life, where fresh ideas, clear uncluttered thinking and laughter can come naturally. That is what this place is all about.
Deep, restful sleep has no price. And you will notice that we spared no expense on the beds, the most comfortable we could find. The separation of the rooms is also designed so you can sleep better, more restful here than anywhere else. Featuring 2 master suites, one with King Bed & 1 with Queen bed and adjoining bathrooms, in addition to a 3rd bedroom with a Queen Bed & full bath close by.
During the day relax in the comfortable living area which has panoramic views of the ocean and forest. Enjoy the ambiance & cozy warmth of a fire in our Avalon Stove style fireplace as you experience the peace & serenity our home brings you. If you don't want to completely disconnect, we have very high speed cable WiFi and everything you need to plug in when you feel like it and a desk with a view so you can use your computer to record your thoughts.
In front of you is a very old virgin forest that is teaming with wild life. There are ten redwoods on the property that are up to seventy five years old. You will probably see deer many times, wild turkey occasionally, quail, and the rare bob cat strolling through the area. Immediately in front is a family of highly territorial woodpeckers, blue Jays, Red Shouldered Hawks, Turkey Vultures and a pair of Golden Eagles.
At night, step out onto the deck. Look straight up on a clear night and see the Milky Way Galaxy and the stars brighter than you can remember. Listen closely and you will hear the seals barking on the beaches below. A few miles north on Highway 1 are nesting elephant seals on protected beaches that you can visit up close. Hearst Castle is only a few miles from here and you can view whale migration from tours out of Morro Bay.
Finally, the wine country out towards Paso Robles on Highway 46 is one of the best kept secrets in California. Here there is a collection of about 150 wine makers who have gone the independent route and still consider winemaking an art form. They pride themselves in producing the finest wines that can rival any in the world. If you like great wine please check out some of our favorite discoveries, Denner, Tablas Creek, Peachy Canyon, Moonstone Cellars, ZIN Alley, Whale Bone, Calcarious, Donati and Eros. Make yourself at home. Exhale and create the next chapter of your life.

This home is one of the few in Cambria that sits directly above a forest with a completely un-obstructed view of the ocean.
It is beautifully built with a spectacular layout which adds to the comfort and relaxation you experience. It is the perfect place for a vacation whether it is for a few nights or the rest of your life.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. It has a calm, peaceful atmosphere and helped us relax & enjoy all the beauty of Cambria. I am amazed at how refreshed and rejuvenated we are after a few days here. We enjoyed looking at the fabulous scenery and the deer and turkeys that visited the backyard. It was a great time for our family. Thanks for sharing it with us! Wow!
We could not have been more pleased. The home was comfortable and well-appointed, with three nice bedrooms and baths. Thank you for making this available!
We recently stayed at this home when my husband's family came for a visit from India. Everyone loved the home. It was roomy, super clean and convenient to everything we wanted to do. Ocean views were lovely. Deer visited morning and evening. The home is designed to take advantage of every view opportunity with all rooms having either an ocean or woodsy view. Nice quiet neighborhood, nice neighbors as well.
My mother-in-law especially enjoyed sitting in the window seat while enjoying the scenery. Downtown Cambria is just a very short drive. Hearst Castle is just a few miles away. Very relaxing property and wonderful area to just enjoy a nice slow pace.
Spent a week in this comfortable home and could not have asked for better accommodations! The place was spacious, nicely decorated and very well equipped. We appreciated the attention to detail throughout the house--little "extras" that made our stay even better, like the throws in the living room, notepad and pen by the phone, soap and lotions in the bathrooms as well as lots of fluffy towels. Lovely views of the water and forest from virtually every room and frequent sightings of the very bold resident deer added to the ambiance. We loved Cambria and altho we traveled far afield almost every day, our favorite place to return to was Cambria and our home away from home!
We have rented a number of properties in Cambria and this is near the top of the list. We loved the luxurious feel of the home. It's the little things which really make a house feel as though the guest is welcome - the throws in the living area available to snuggle with, plenty of towels and not just those white scratchy ones so many rentals use, a lighted makeup mirror!, easily understood instructions on everything from the door locks to the DVD, garage door openers (you wouldn't believe how many rentals give up on those), binoculars, and clean, clean, clean.
The views were amazing, and we found the extra patio chairs in the garage for sitting out.
Yes, the kitchen will eventually need updating as well as the master bath, but we had everything we needed to prepare our meals and both the kitchen and the baths were very clean and well maintained. The dining room chairs were heavy - we found it difficult to move them, but other than those minor points, everything was amazing and felt so homey.
We are looking forward to returning on our next visit.
Chartwell Manor was the perfect gathering place for our Sister Friends 2016 wine tasting vacation. We chose the home based on the three bedroom, three bath layout paired with the amazing pine forest and distant ocean views. My sister and I shared the big master bedroom and our two best friends loved the privacy of their own rooms and bathrooms. The house has modern furnishings and the outdated kitchen and bathrooms did not detract from our comfort or enjoyment of the home. We almost skipped this rental because of the bright blue kitchen tile, but we hardly noticed it while we were there. The kitchen and bathroom counter tops are higher than average, which was a delight to our tall friends and still easy to reach for us average height sisters. The beds are also tall and have pillow top mattresses that are soft and comfy. The bathroom towels are big and fluffy. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans and utensils for cooking and a generous supply of wine glasses. A previous guest left behind a half bag of charcoal briquettes for the outdoor Weber grill. Had we not been exhausted from several days of touring the nearby vineyards, we would have purchased Hearst Ranch steaks from the tasting room in San Simeon and fired up the grill. The nights were cool and the gas fireplace was a welcome feature of the house. The couch and chair are plush and comfortable enough to fall asleep on in front of the fire. A second comfy chair in the living room would be nice, as three adults on the couch is a little too crowded. Though there are houses nearby, most were unoccupied this time of year, giving us the impression we were alone on the planet as we sat on the back deck enjoying the stunning sunsets. We all agreed we would definitely stay here again.
We three couples met half way to celebrate four days over the 2015 NY holiday. It was the perfect place for us! We cooked together in the nice clean well appointed kitchen, dined at the awesome dining table and sat around the warm fire looking out at the beautiful view while catching up. At first we were concerned that everything would be closed for the holidays but had no problem making reservations at The Sow's Ear & Robins Rest. both excellent recommendations by Debbie. We visited wineries, walked Moonstone Beach and had a great time watching the Elephant Seals. Then we'd come back to relax again and it really did feel like coming home. We really appreciate the fact that we could stay at such a lovely home. Many thanks!
The sport fishing is located in Morro Bay and there is also an estuary with wonderful bird & sea life.
