Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10

We have the best views and direct access just steps to the beach. We are on the front of the dune with the beach a stone throw away and the front deck looks directly down on shore. We have the best reviews ever - check them out. Newly built with a large covered deck 180 degree uninterrupted view of the beach directly in front and Pass and Gulf; front room overlooks the broad and beautiful San Luis Pass and the kitchen and dining areas overlook the Gulf. An entire bank of windows in the kitchen provides great views of sunrise over the Gulf while preparing breakfast.

Kayaks can be launched directly in front or across the way in the back bay. The far side of the bay is a huge birding and wildlife park that can be boated or kayak/canoe accessed. San Luis Pass and the bay here are known for their championship fishing.

Extensive beaches for shelling and walking and volleyball. Really blue clear water is often coming into the pass from the Gulf and we have some of the best water quality around.

Wonderful breezes blow all summer long. Great view of sunrise over Gulf and a view of the sunset over the back bay. All bedrooms have stone countertops with large vessel glass sinks in the room. Granite countertops throughout kitchen and bar area. Enjoy dinner on the deck looking out on the beaches and lights across the pass. Stone floors throughout entire house with intricate ''rug'' stonework. Great birding route with lots of pelicans, herons, and shorebirds. Beach has limited access to cars and is in process of becoming a pedestrian beach for shell collecting and kids play areas. House has ramp and stair access. Three flat screen TVs with satellite/HDTV living room. Quality kitchenware, linens, towels, etc.

Owner Description: Blake and Diane built this house just before Ike and the house had no real damage. It is the most beautiful location on earth. Blake is an exploration geologist with the 7th largest oil company (no not BP) and Diane is a Speech Pathologist. We have two girls at University (one at St Edwards and one at U. of Montana Missoula). Diane specializes in adopting special need greyhounds.

Why the Owner Chose San Luis Pass: Clear waters of the offshore Gulf come into the Pass giving the area especially clear blue water and lots of shells/sand dollars accumulate on this end of the barrier island. The ends of barrier islands are great places for fish, birds, and beautiful sand dunes. The far away lights across the pass are beautiful at night and provide a view that other areas do not have at night. We built within a community but it is quiet because we have no immediate neighbors.

The Unique Benefits of this House: This house is in a quiet family area. It is the last house on a dead end road that stops at the beach and we have a couple of empty lots one either side of the house so no one needs to listen to neighbors. The beach has limited access so there are never lots of people on the beach. Sunrise comes up across the Gulf and is a beautiful sight from the kitchen, dining room, and front porch. Patches of yellow and orange flowers cover dunes around the house.

About Blake Blackwelder/Diane Blackwelder

Blake is an exploration geologist with the 7th largest oil company (no not BP) and Diane is a Speech Pathologist. We have two girls at University (one graduated from St Edwards and is applying to medical school and one at U. of Montana Missoula). Diane specializes in adopting special need greyhounds.

Why Blake Blackwelder/Diane Blackwelder chose Texas Gulf Coast

Clear waters of the offshore Gulf come into the Pass giving the area especially clear blue water and lots of shells/sand dollars accumulate on this end of the barrier island. The ends of barrier islands are great places for fish, birds, and beautiful sand dunes. The far away lights across the pass are beautiful at night and provide a view that other areas do not have at night. We built within a community but it is quiet because we have no immediate neighbors.

Just the best beach on a barrier island where the clear offshore waters coming into the pass create a setting for some of the best fishing, crabbing, shelling, and bird watching along this coast. Romantic unobstructed view of the lights (west end of Galveston Is) sparkling across the waters of the wide pass at night can be enjoyed from the spacious covered front deck. In the morning there is a spectacular view of the sun rising from the horizon across the Gulf. Sunsets over the bay can be viewed from the back deck. Pelicans flying in long lines are commonplace and come just off the deck. They dive for fish off the front deck. Its a short and beautiful drive along the barrier island to Galveston where there are the many restaurants and sights and activities. From the west side of Treasure Island, one can walk for 20 miles of unobstructed sandy Gulf beach. We have beach volleyballs, but also bring your kite.

Beautiful view of the San Luis Pass

  • 5 of 5

Family of 7 slept fairly well given that one bed was VERY high (luckily we found a stool!) and the bunk beds were very comfy! The kitchen was extremely well stocked (we had to buy a nonstick pan for eggs), and the house was clean and well stocked with paper products. You can't swim off the beach right by the house (only true complaint), but we rented a golf cart and made the short trip to the Jolly Roger beach which was awesome! Our dogs loved the trip, lots of dogs for them to play with on the beach which is why we love Surfside sooo much. The water, sand, sun, MOSQUITOS (😵?), fishing (caught loads of trout and red fish) made a trip we will not forget! Thank you for letting us stay and we'd love to come back very soon!

Fabulous place to relax and enjoy the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We booked a 5-night stay with our 3 adult sons and their plus-one's. What a great beach house! Exquisitely equipped chef's kitchen, plenty of space to spread out. Besides the beach itself, our favorite hangout place was on the 4 big rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the water. Definitely rent a golf cart (they delivered it right to the house) and explore up and down the beach. A shout out to Reel Men Fishing Charters out of Galveston Yacht Basin--showed us a great time and we came back with a ton of speckled trout. This beach house was a very clean, quiet, comfortable place to have some great down time with family. Loved walking up and down the beach collecting sea shells and flying kites like a bunch of kids! Would definitely do it again!

Beautiful, spacious, clean beachfront house - Completely exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I (and our dog) spent a long weekend at Blake And Dianne's house with our friends and their 2 year old son. The house was absolutely amazing, cool (AC), comfortable, well stocked with cooking utensils (pans, coffee maker, blender, etc), and spacious. The beach right in front of the house had some great sea shells for collecting as you walk toward San Luis Pass (slightly north). There is also a beach access at the south end of the neighborhood that is good for walking (headed south) and swimming. I think some of the most fun we had was crabbing (or our version of crabbing). The owners talked about crabbing in the "things to do" suggestions. We had absolutely no idea how to go "crabbing" but got $3 crabbing nets and chicken necks from the Seven Seas market. Even just out by the rocks in front of the house, we were able to catch a few blue crabs! (I'm sure this isn't the proper way to go crabbing, but we were just catching and releasing) Overall I would definitely come back!! We had a great time!

Beach rental

  • 5 of 5

This was the best beach house ever. All the amenities that you need to cook and share with your family is included. The house was clean,, a toilet in each room with access of one from the kitchen. Pots and pan wee available. You are 30 feet from the beach. We want crabbing, but the neighbors got them before us ;). The kids really enjoyed the beach as well as the adults. I felt very safe in the property.

You will not want to leave ! I promise you that !

I had just finished a 42 day hitch Offshore in South America and was looking to restfully decompress and I most certainly found it with this property.

I was attracted to the property because of the vast amount of positive reviews in addition to presence of a handicap ramp which thought would fascilitate my senior canine getting in and out of the house and it most certainly did.

The panoramic view from this house is staggering. When we arrived the temps were in the low 70s and the blue water was running all the way into the San Luis pass. The locals call this location the "Bluff" because of its amazing elevated view of the Gulf extending into the San Luis Pass.

We rented a golf cart from K-6 rentals in Jamaica beach and they delivered it to the house . We had quite the time cruising the beach , neighborhood , and San Luis Pass park which has an entry across the Bluewater highway from the neighborhood.

The Blackwelders were so very accomodating and such a delight .The house was stocked with everything twice over and extremely clean .

So definitely rent this place , rent a golf cart , and enjoy the awesome view.

We will be back soon !!
