Washington Square House - Accommodating up to 10 guests.
Luxury Living Savannah's Washington Square House, a 4 bedroom, 4 bath house accommodating up to 10 guests, is on Savannah’s picturesque Washington Square one and 2 blocks from River Street! This square, on Houston Street, is near the site of the old Trustees Garden. It was named for George Washington. For many years, until the mid-20th Century, this square was the scene of the biggest New Year's Eve bonfires, many often taller than the houses around the square. The Seaman's House, operated by the Port Society to serve the needs of visiting seaman, is on the southwest side of the square.
This circa 1790 - 1810 Historic Washington Square House is an 'Award Winning' Historic Restoration. After setting vacant since 1992, the amazing miracle is that the house retained the vast majority of its original details! The original stair case, heart pine floors, all doors and hardware, windows, plaster ceiling medallions, bead board wainscoting, fireplaces and mantles, etc, etc.
The painstaking restoration was conducted by stringent guidelines laid out by the Department of Natural Resource in Washington D.C. These guidelines were followed in order to save the historic integrity of the home and its significant contribution to Savannah’s Landmark Historic District. All of this and and 2 blocks to River Street!
No expense was spared on this Million Dollar Luxury Home. The period correct modernization of the property includes a formal Living and Dining Room, gourmet kitchen, sun room, a lovely courtyard and fountain for enjoying alfresco dining and relaxing, and of course; lavish, luxurious bathrooms!
Note: When combined with the two bedroom, two bath Washington Square Carriage House, which sleeps up to 4 people, the entire property provides comfortable accommodations for up to 14 guests.

The property was Beautiful and so perfect for that old Savannah feel. Perfect for a girls weekend. Nice walking distance from a lot of stuff. I would recommend this place to anyone!
While not cheap, you get what you pay for. Very comfortable and perfect for our family.
We chose this home because we had four couples who were spending a week in Savannah and this home had a bathroom connected to each of four bedrooms. We also loved the location as we were within walking distance of the Riverfront and also downtown. Even venues further south of downtown weren't that difficult to get to. We really enjoyed the sunroom which I don't recall being pictured. We were able to have breakfast in the home quite a few mornings and it was nice to have enough seating for the eight of us. There were enough pots and pans and dishes to use but it is a little short on dish towels and such. The owners do warn you so if you are going to do much cooking there, heed the warning. Also, you will need extra dishwasher detergent but the Kroger isn't far to make any purchases you need. Most people probably don't do as much cooking as we did because there are so many wonderful restaurants and two that are really close - the Pirate House and Cha Bella. We just loved the atmosphere of the home as well the courtyard. Anything which needed to be fixed was quickly taken care of with a phone call to Luxury Living. Don't be put off if you go on "maps" and get the street view. This is not a fancy neighborhood on the exterior, especially on that side of the street, but it is nice, especially on the inside as previously mentioned. We had one car that could be put in the garage and another that had to be parked in front but it wasn't as tricky as we thought - there are kiosks nearby to get the passes but we just plugged the meters as we weren't there all the time to need an all day pass. Watch for the signs for the street sweepers as mentioned in some other reviews. However, the street sweeper came one extra day that was not posted on the sign. The car wasn't ticketed but the noise was unexpected. That will be anywhere in Savannah. We would definitely stay there again - it was wonderful!
We rented The Washington Square House for a women's book club weekend and it did not disappoint-it was hard to leave! The location was awesome, 10 of us cabbed from the airport and walked everywhere in town, dove into all kinds of wonderful culture, shopping and dining. Savannah is just beautiful, and this was the perfect place to stay to experience it, wonderful accommodations!! Highly recommend :)
We chose this house for our first Girls Weekend. We also rented another condo for the overflow. The location to River Street, the trolleys, and shopping! couldn't have been better. Parking is always at a premium so the one designated spot really helped. You will not be disappointed with the house BUT watch for street sweeper times.. or you'll get a $15 ticket like 5 of us did. :) Buy the parking passes if you're going to be in Savannah for more than 2 days.. its worth it.
The house is beautiful and tastefully decorated. We had 21 women coming and going for 3 days. Between the kitchen, dining room, living room and sun room, there was plenty of mingling room without feeling the least bit cramped! The bedrooms have high end linens, bath towels and clean crisp decor. The master bath with the jet tub is awesome!! Bedrooms are all on 2nd floor except a very small bedroom at the front entrance. It ended up being too tight for 2 adults so my mom slept on the daybed in the living room which was very comfortable. The long staircase can be tricky for the elderly or anyone with knee/hip problems.
Our group ages were between 22 and 90.. this house was perfect for us and made the weekend even better. The listed photos don't do it justice. Rental company was easy to work with.
We had 9 ladies stay here on a bridge club trip in April. The house has beautiful antiques and is well appointed. Everything that we needed was in place, including hairdryers and extra linens and towels. The interior and exterior are full of Southern charm. The kitchen was a great gathering place and the sunroom was such a nice addition. Three of the bedroom are extremely spacious. The downstairs bedroom is a bit cramped, as the bed is located in a alcove. Baths were all great and very clean.
The location is very central to all of the city and is an easy walk to anywhere. This is a wonderful house for a weekend or a longer stay. The rental agency was easy to work with and they allowed us to store our luggage in the garage after check out time, as our flight was late in the day. I highly recommend this great house.
