Quite, remote, just perfect

  • 4 of 5

Tucked back in Oak Creek, this was a perfect location. Away from the touristy areas, close to some favorite trails - Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock for hiking and mountain biking. We brought our dog along and we enjoyed morning walks in the neighborhood with lovely views of the Red Rock before we all headed to the hiking trails. Only issue was the coffee pot, I think it might be on its last leg. Great coffee shops in Oak Creek, but we do love our morning coffee. Other than that, we enjoyed the little casita. Casita had all the basics needed in the kitchen. Internet functioned just fine for us.

Pretty casita away from the hubbub of downtown Sedona

  • 4 of 5

We spent 4 nights here and had a great stay. Be aware that the Oak Creek location is a 20 minute drive to Sedona which was a good thing as we stayed during Easter break, when Sedona was wall to wall tourists !

Very comfortable bed, living room has big, soft sofas and kitchen has basic utensils available. We cooked dinner in 2 nights & enjoyed dining in

nearby restaurants the other 2. Quiet area with amazing views of Red Rock Country. Great hikes just down the road on 179N.

Location is about as far from Sedona as you can get and still be in the area. No cell coverage.

  • 1 of 5

when I arrived there was no one there and no instructions. There are 2 buildings on the property and the Web photo shows the entrance to the more attractive one. Place is remote so went back to town an came back out there 2 hours later. Still no one there. Tried the doors on the back building and found the back door unlocked and went in. Found a kids bedroom and a master bedroom. As it had towel sets on the bed, figured thats where - should been. It was 9:30 pm by then. Moved in, locked the door and got into the bed. An hour later a knock came on the bedroom door. I was in the Tennants bedroom. I had to dress, pack up very quickly and come out. Luckily the Tennant happened to have a key to the other correct building. Very embarrassing for me. Next day the owners daughter apologized. Also on that day, I confirmd by E-Mail a massage therapy appointment with her. Probably because of the no cell zone... when the time came for the appointment, she did not appear. She did show up later and advised she had not received my return E-Mail. The stay was problematic and stressful. Also expensive. I am very far from satisfied. I am a VP of a big firm and need to be in constant contact. I could not even contact my friends 8 miles away in the village. No cell coverage!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review, but we have to comment on a few things to let future guests know that they are taken care of. As you can see from all of the other rave reviews, this property is a crowd pleaser in Sedona! An email was sent prior to the arrival day with the address and instructions with information about the location of the key to access the property. The key was there waiting for his arrival and the Casita was cleaned, cool and ready for the guest. The photos online are of the exact property. There IS another house farther back on the property; which is separate from this rental. Apparently the guest arrived, no one was there and he went into the main house (which was unlocked) and went to sleep. A surprise to everyone; especially the guests in that property! There is a landline with local and long distance calling available along with an individual internet service to communicate with friends, family and work. A lot of guests (if they have cell issues) connect to the WIFI and can text and make calls that way. Cell service is spotty through out Sedona and a lot depends on your cell service carrier. We apologize for any mis-communication, and are saddened that you did not enjoy your stay. I hope we can make it up to you in the future. Thanks

A most comfortable place

  • 4 of 5

We spent 8 days here while travelling the west. It was a great location, very quiet, and away from the traffic and crowds of Sedona. We found the cellular issue not an issue as you can always use wifi-calling (most phones have it). We did find the kitchen a bit underequipped for accessories, but still managed to cook up a storm. We would stay here again.

Mi Casa es Su Casa

Very well maintained place. Super comfortable bed. You do feel like the owners care for it as if they lived there. Very comfortable bed and pillows.

Very comfortable retreat, but beware!

  • 3 of 5

We stayed three nights at the Casita. If just basing my rating on the house I would give it 4 stars. Overall the place is very comfortable and quite. The view of the red rock cliffs just outside the door is amazing. We cooked a couple meals there and had what we needed for the most part. (Need a cutting board.) The outdoor grill is functional, but really just a "tailgate" portable grill. The bed was comfortable, heat/air worked great, TV connected to satellite ... we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to a couple wanting to get away and off the grid.

That leads to the reason I gave it 3 stars. The Casita is a few miles outside of town and we had NO cell service at the house. In fact, you have to drive about ten minutes back towards town to get any signal. That is not the owners fault but should be in the listing. The listing does state that there is hi-speed wifi available. While we were there, we could barely get any signal. So little, that we were not able to work in the evenings and had to drive back into town. Having a decent wifi connection is a requirement for me. VERY inconvenient and disappointing. On top of that, the house phone did not work so we were a 20 minute drive from any form of communication.

Like I said, I would recommend staying here if connectivity does not matter to you.

Owner's Response: Regarding the few issues: The land-line in the property has been tested and works. Just no International calls allowed. There IS WIFI. It is not the highest speed possible, but seems to be adequate for the guests. We have tested it inside the property and out on the porch as well. Cell phone is spotty in all of Sedona. Verizon works better in Sedona but with other carriers the service is spotty even in the downtown area of Sedona. Being surrounded by mountains and the beauty of Sedona does not always lend itself to technology. The BBQ Grill has been replaced! We hope to see you soon!
