We stayed three nights at the Casita. If just basing my rating on the house I would give it 4 stars. Overall the place is very comfortable and quite. The view of the red rock cliffs just outside the door is amazing. We cooked a couple meals there and had what we needed for the most part. (Need a cutting board.) The outdoor grill is functional, but really just a "tailgate" portable grill. The bed was comfortable, heat/air worked great, TV connected to satellite ... we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to a couple wanting to get away and off the grid.
That leads to the reason I gave it 3 stars. The Casita is a few miles outside of town and we had NO cell service at the house. In fact, you have to drive about ten minutes back towards town to get any signal. That is not the owners fault but should be in the listing. The listing does state that there is hi-speed wifi available. While we were there, we could barely get any signal. So little, that we were not able to work in the evenings and had to drive back into town. Having a decent wifi connection is a requirement for me. VERY inconvenient and disappointing. On top of that, the house phone did not work so we were a 20 minute drive from any form of communication.
Like I said, I would recommend staying here if connectivity does not matter to you.
We enjoyed our stay. Spot is very comfortable and is quiet and secluded. Good views right outside. We'll equipped for most needs. Bit out of town of village of oak creek with limited cell reception so take that into consideration. Wifi worked well. Would definitely stay there again.
My wife and I went in late March, and it was actually pretty cold outside with lows in the 30s. I was a little worried that we would be cold when I first saw the wall heater. After I found the other 2 high quality space heaters and turned one on in the living room and another in the bathroom, I was warmer than I was in my own home. I would joke with my wife about it being "5 star luxury". I loved sitting in the recliner at the end of a day of hiking with a beer. For the price the experience was much more relaxing and nicer than any Marriott hotel I have ever been to. Laundry, microwave, stove, and oven worked well. All the utensils and cooking supplies I needed including a grill were available. It looked like they even left some of the cooking ingredients from previous guests like oils, pepper, and vinegars making for much less left overs and waste.
Other normal supplies you would expect from a hotel were available including shampoos, soaps, detergents, extra blankets, and tons of towels. It was very easy to find the house. I never actually saw the manager, but I never needed to either. The key and any information I would need was waiting at the house.
The house was perfectly sized, tidy, clean, and functional for 2 people. I might have been comfortable with a single child but any more and the sleeping and bathroom situation would have been doable but certainly crowded. It was a very nice neighborhood with a short 20 minute or less drive to downtown Sedona. The longest drive we ever made was 34 minutes the West Fork trail. Bell Rock is only minutes away and we ended one night with a climb to the top.
We brought our five pound yorkie. He had no accidents but I picked the location because the floor was tiled just in case. They provided some sheets that were meant for animals to lay on.
This little guest house is ideally located in a quiet neighborhood in Oak Creek very close to Sedona but out of the fray and 5-10 minutes from Bell Rock and Cathedral Rock. Many nice restaurants nearby. An IGA 3 minutes away or Whole foods 15 minutes if you're inclined to cook in as I was. Immaculate, nice sized bathroom, bed was comfortable, living area nice, good selection of cable, well- cooled or heated depending what I needed. The next time I plan a trip to Sedona I'll be checking to see if this available as my first option.
We were a little concerned about the owners being in the back house since we have had some issues at other places we have rented with owners dropping by unannounced, but we had no issues here. We were welcomed when we arrived and given some good tips about the area and then we were left alone for the rest of our stay. The neighborhood is very quiet. We even saw a family of deer walking through the neighborhood one night. We were quite comfortable in the casita.
we really loved this place...it was the most beautiful place we stayed and i absolutely will recommend it to you.
Nicole helped us with directions and made us feel really welcome.
the whole area is wonderful to get out and walk and just feel the gentle wind.. so different than staying in a hotel near some airport!
The little house is in an enchanted garden, and you can walk out and see bunnies under the starry sky...
I hope i get to visit again.
