The ad was an accurate depiction of this property. We enjoyed it very much. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location was good. A few notes:
1-the pool isn't private
2-the bed was comfy but could use a foam topper (sheets were sooo soft!)
3-parking is doable but be patient
4-kitchen could use a few more dishes even if you're not cooking formal meals. Also they need a blender for drinks by the pool 😀😀
For our short stay (3.5 days) this little cottage was great. The kitchenette was useful and we did cook a few meals, but be warned that there is little space on the actual counter so plan to use the counter height table they have next for extra meal preparation space. It was so nice have a bathroom upstairs and downstairs so that we weren't having to trek up and down the entire time! The pull out couch was quite worn out, and could probably use a cushion topper or a new mattress (my sister and I could feel the metal grid and legs through the mattress...which got old after the 2nd night). This was not a problem for us, but could be for people expecting a completely private space but there is a larger house across the Koi pond that also has tenants which we could not tell if they were also renters or permanent. It did not pose a problem with our stay, though my grandma was under the impression the pool would be for our use only and was a little startled when a guest of the larger house rounded the corner (they did not stay though, and allowed her privacy) but just a heads up.
The location was perfect and allowed us to be able to walk right to downtown (about 10ish minutes depending on how leisurely we walked) and there were awesome restaurants not even a five minute walk from the house! Charleston was perfect, and for a long weekend or couple's getaway I would definitely recommend this location!
Great pool house for my wife and I. Really enjoyed the seclusion in the middle of downtown and the house had plenty of charm. You can feel close to King St, yet so far away. Will definitely keep in mind for future trips to Charleston. Perfect for two people.
We brought our kids (8 and 6) to Charleston for two nights and a full day of exploration. This was the perfect spot for us as it is within close proximity to everything and it's one of those unique and special places that helps make a vacation more memorable. My wife and I used the second floor bed and my children slept on the sofa bed. We did little more than sleep in the cottage house, but really appreciated the beauty of the cottage and the property on which it is located. My kids loved the koi pond and could have swam in the pool had it been a little warmer and we had more time. The parking was a little tight, but we managed and anyone else could as well- it's worth it! The uniqueness of the property is something I enjoyed immensely and will not soon forget! It would be perfect for a couple looking for a romantic getaway and is great for a family of up to four people. I would definitely stay there again!
The house was absolutely charming! It was clean, classy and perfect location for sight seeing. The visitors center and museum are a quick walk as are stops for the free shuttle and places to eat. We never moved the car. Recommend Hominy Grill a few blocks away. Just be prepared for tight parking and shaky footing on brick walkway. Would return .
Tucked away in a cobblestone alleyway, this cozy villa is perfect for a charleston getaway. Plan to park and walk or take a carriage ride to get around the historic district. Parking space is a tight squeeze for a large vehicle but we found the easiest way to get our pick up in so not a major issue. Very comfortable layout and beautiful enclosed courtyard make for a very private cozy stay. Great location we walked around the immediate downtown area and easily drove 20 minutes to nearby attractions such as the South Carolina aquarium and across the harbor to patriots point and the mount pleasant area. Would stay here again to try different restaurants and see more sites. So much in the area can't go wrong.
There are horse and carriage rides, multiple walking tours and historic house tours located just several blocks away. Many local boutiques and restaurants are easily available and walkable to enjoy during your days. Local farmers markets and festivals occur regularly here in our city at Marion Square conveniently located just 4 blocks away.
