About the property

Yellowstone Cabin Rental On Private Acreage Five Miles From The Park's North Gate And Best Wildlife Watching And Cutthroat Trout Fishing!

Charming cabin built in 2009 with two bedrooms that sleeps 5-8 located just five minutes from Yellowstone Park's North Entrance on 26 acres of private property. Perfect for travelers who want easy access to the famous Northern Range and Lamar Valley with its bison, elk, deer, wolves, bears, AND fishing for world-famous Yellowstone cutthroat trout!

This beautiful cabin is unlike all other vacation rental properties in the area. Lying in an extremely private location just above Highway 89 north of Gardiner, Montana, and the Roosevelt Arch, the cabin is easily accessed by a well-maintained, short, 300 yard-long Private Drive.

This setting provides you with total solitude and isolation from any hustle and bustle of the busy roadways leading to/from the park. However, at the same time, when needed, you are just minutes away from restaurants, the market, and shops in Gardiner or a bit further away in Livingston and Bozeman.

Built on a log frame, this cabin has all modern amenities yet has a great amount of rustic appeal including beautiful hardwood floors. It has enormous windows giving you unmatched views of Yellowstone's Electric Peak, Devil's Slide, Dome Mountain, and many other spectacular geological features. Wildlife abound here and deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, or bison are seen on the meadows and mountain slopes near the cabin. Often during the spring and fall, they are standing right in the cabin's yard. No-where else in the northern Rockies will you find wildlife this abundant and close in a natural setting.

Horses graze nearby, and the Yellowstone River, home to world-class trout fishing, leaves the park and passes just a few hundred yards below you.

There are many access sites to the Yellowstone River very near to the cabin, one within easy walking distance (that is a very great fishing spot...just ask our boys!).

Being near Gardiner, our cabin is at the home of the Yellowstone Association, a long-standing educational institute offering numerous courses in the park. The Electric Peak Cabin is a perfect place to stay when visiting and attending these courses.

About Todd Koel

We are a family of six including four young boys who love the Greater Yellowstone Area.

Todd has a Ph.D. in Zoology and works professionally to preserve the native animals here, especially Yellowstone cutthroat trout and the ecosystem they support!

Todd Koel purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Todd Koel chose Yellowstone

We have built this cabin here because Yellowstone Park is the greatest place on the face of the planet. We want to provide an opportunity for visitors to relax and share in the Yellowstone experience.

The Yellowstone River and great fishing are within walking distance of the cabin door. Also the Yellowstone Association and all its educational opportunities are found right near our place at Gardiner.

This is our home and we love it. Come on out here and stay for awhile!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We visited Yellowstone for one week on our 6-month journey from the Netherlands. We had a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately many of the roads in Yellowstone were still closed, however we visited Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, and Tower Falls. We went swimming in the Boiling River (recommended!)and we saw lots and lots of wildlife: hundreds of bison and elk, pronghorn, deer, coyotes, bighorn sheep. We missed out on the bears. We also enjoyed the wildlife around the cabin.

Thanks alot for everything, and to you Justin, Aaron, Ryan, and Tyler for letting us use your bikes!!

Thursday we are leaving for West Glacier (thanks Tod for the route info). A few months in Canada before going back home in July.

Beautiful location, clean well supplied.

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. I was very impressed by how well stocked the cabin is. Pretty much all the equipment needed to cook and some basic foodstuffs. The Paradise Valley is lovely and in full view from the front porch. Quite close to Gardiner and Yellowstone entrance but also private. Lots of resources for observing wildlife, including the 50 elk across the road on most days. We had car trouble and ended up spending more time at the cabin and hiking locally and enjoyed it all.

The cabin was beautiful, clean and very conveniently located. Todd was awesome. Came and introduced himself. It was just wonderful. Saw wildlife. There aren't words to express the beauty of the place you just need to go and spend a week there and you'll know how breathtaking it is. Thanks Todd for letting us use your cabin!!! Rebecca Maurits

Cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Welcoming cabin with beautiful views. Comfortable for our family and 2 teenagers. The kitchen had the basics we needed to make meals and a charcoal grill to BBQ. The location is excellent, maybe a 5" drive into Gardnier. YNP sites are conveniently located! The owner checked in by email and has great instructions in his emails. Be sure to read what to bring. It has detailed information in it which we appreciated. For the price you can't beat it! Thank you Todd for sharing your beautiful place with us.

Our family loved this cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 couldn't have had a better place to stay than at the Electric Peak Cabin. This was our families first trip to Yellowstone and this cabin was a part of making our trip great. It was a short drive to the north entrance of Yellowstone which was great so we didn't have to spend extra time driving to and from the park. Every night when we got back from Yellowstone we would relax on the front porch and enjoy the amazing views. My kids all enjoyed the horses next door and my son really enjoyed using the spotting scope to look at elk across the road (of course now he wants a spotting scope for his birthday but I keep telling him we don't have as much fun stuff to look at as we did at the cabin). I will recommend this cabin to anyone I know that is planning a trip to Yellowstone.

We loved the Electric Peak cabin!

  • 5 of 5

It had stunning views, was quiet and secluded, and close to YNP. A great home base for exploring Yellowstone and relaxing when you get back. Todd was great! Very nice and helpful. We stayed with our family of five. We would stay again for sure!

This cabin made our vacation perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Yellowstone is amazing on its own, but coming home every day to this cabin made our vacation perfect. There is no one else really close by, so you will enjoy quiet nights by the fire. We enjoyed counting the elk herd and antelope every morning and evening in the valley below the cabin (through binoculars of course), the views of the mountains were seen from every window of the cabin. The cabin is comfy and is stocked with more then we were expecting by far. Todd stopped by and is incredibly nice and let us know where we would have the best luck finding certain animals in the park. The town is only a few minutes away and has groceries, a gas station, and many many restaurants and quant little shops. Seriously we lucked out when we booked this cabin. All of our family and friends have been told they need to stay here on their next Yellowstone trip. Thank you Koel family!!!
